A Navy corpsman suspected of wounding two other men in a shooting in Frederick, Maryland, was himself shot and killed by military personnel. The shooter drove from the scene at a business park to nearby Fort Detrick, where he was shot and killed by base security. The two men who had been shot and were transported by helicopter to a Baltimore trauma center, where they remain in critical condition.<\/p>\n

Officials identified the suspect as 38-year-old Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, a Petty Officer Third Class<\/em><\/p>\n By Stephanie Pagones<\/strong><\/p>\n An active shooter emergency at a Maryland business park near Fort Detrick on Tuesday morning left two male U.S. Navy sailors wounded, with one still considered critical hours later, and the suspect, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, dead, officials said.<\/p>\n Officials on Tuesday afternoon identified the suspect as 38-year-old Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, a Petty Officer Third Class assigned to Fort Detrick who lived off-base in Frederick.<\/p>\n Woldesenbet allegedly began shooting with a rifle inside a Navy-related business at the Riverside Tech Park, causing people inside to flee, Frederick police and Fort Detrick officials said at a news conference. Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said detectives are still trying to determine a possible motive.<\/p>\n Lando called the shootings “very tragic.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
