Who’d have thought coming in to this year that due to COVID we’d witness the rapid descent into authoritarianism that we’ve seen. In Michigan the governor keeps instituting unconstitutional orders and when the courts find against the petty tyrant, she does what other dictators do and just continues doing the illegal stuff.<\/p>\n

As an aside, Joe Biden loves him some unconstitutional government mandates, saying \u201cThere is not a better governor in the United States of America than Gretchen Whitmer. That\u2019s a fact,” last week. ? “Fact” you say? I do not think that word means what you think it means, Mr. Vice President.<\/p>\n

And so it was in Miami that the Mayor instituted draconian COVID policies, violating the state governor’s order that businesses should be allowed to remain open (albeit at reduced capacity if local conditions require). The Miami mayor’s order shut down all businesses in the city from 12am-6am. If there’s a study about how COVID is\u00a0 more transmissible during those hours, I’ve yet to see it. Seems like an absurdly arbitrary, capricious restriction.<\/p>\n

A Miami strip club challenged a county-wide curfew that was imposed months ago at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and won, according to the business and several reports.<\/p>\n

Tootsie\u2019s Cabaret and other local Miami businesses are no longer required to abide by a 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. curfew after a judge ruled in favor of the gentleman\u2019s club\u2019s lawsuit, which sought to overturn Miami-Dade County’s restrictions, local affiliate WSVN-TV reported.<\/p>\n

The New York Post reported Judge Beatrice Butchko ruled on Friday that Miami-Dade\u2019s curfew conflicted with Florida Gov. Ron Desantis\u2019 order, which prohibited local governments from imposing certain COVID-19-related limitations on restaurants and bars, such as those that prevent such eateries from being able to operate at 50 to 100% capacity indoors, according to an executive order.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Miami-Dade curfew orders conflict with [Desantis\u2019 order] because they prohibit Tootsies from operating,\u201d Butchko wrote in granting the temporary restraining order against the curfew, according to the Post. \u201c[T]hey prohibit employees and contractors from working and they reduce capacity to zero for the entire time subject to the curfew.\u201d<\/p>\n

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez wrote in a tweet on Saturday that officials had already appealed Butchko\u2019s decision.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Now the single moms of Miami and the people that support them can once again conduct their dirty, sinful business in the wee hours of the morning as God intended.<\/p>\n
