Live Stream from VA National Cemeteries

Join us in honoring Veterans and service members with the solemn dignity and respect they have earned

Each VA national cemetery will conduct a brief wreath laying ceremony, accompanied by a moment of silence and the playing of Taps. In keeping with CDC guidelines to limit large gatherings, the ceremonies will not be open to the public. Learn more: VA national cemeteries to commemorate Memorial Day.

Thanks for these linkys, I’ll wade thru those and do some virtual watching. The Chinesecommunist Originated Virus Infecting Disease of 2019 (COVID19) will not affect our usual plans to pay Honors to those that “gave all.” The Rifle Squad will gather here and we have a small number of out of the way Church Burial Grounds and Cemeteries that have an assortment of Vets from all wars, many that were KIA. Just us and them. We’ll say some words and fire a Rifle Salute. Probably won’t fire the mortar this year. Some of that crew is deployed right now. I hope my Bag Piper can make it, his pharmacy is considered essential and his back up pill peddler is deployed also. Can’t have a drug store open unless the pharmacist is on site. State Law.

Only Army Mom

This really makes me sad. Last year, I was at Arlington for the Wreath Laying and rode in Rolling Thunder. We all knew it was the last Ride, which made the once in a lifetime part very true for me.

I’ll be at my local National Cemetery this year, stay-at-home orders be damned.

One day a year. One day that we are asked to pause, recognize, honor and remember. Let’s get that message out, particularly to all those bemoaning their loss of BBQ, beach and shopping fun on “their” traditional summer kick-off day. Yep, we should celebrate, but celebrate because we pause, recognize, honor and remember why we can celebrate.

A few of us (certainly less that the law mandates) will be gathering to replace the Boy Scouts who are not allowed this year to put out the flags at our local Veterans Cemetery. The staff was going to do it all themselves, on their own day off, no pay, just because. We told them to feel free to do that, but that they would have help doing it. Our trouble is in keeping the crowd small enough to be legal!
