VOV reports his Father in Law, a Korean War Vet, is one of the veterans in the Holyoke soldiers home with the virus.

Just lost a dear friend the 14th due to Covid – went to the hospital 3/31, was intubated and in the ICU quickly. Cong couldn’t kill him (’68-69 I believe) but the Chinese did.
Finally found a home number for another… former infantry RTO, also Vietnam – turns out his cell died and I tracked down his home phone finally.
All: make sure your friends have multiple ways to reach you, especially if they are at long distance!

I live in the PDRofMA and try to stay current on the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home catastrophe. In the last three weeks, at least 38 veterans have died from COVID-19. An additional 99 veterans and 79 employees have tested positive for the coronavirus. Medical personnel from the National Guard are augmenting a clinical control team. At least 44 residents who tested negative were moved to the Holyoke Medical Center.
The MA attorney general and the US Dept. of Justice are conducting a joint investigation to determine whether criminal charges should be filed. Prayers for recovery to VOV’s FIL and to all the infected residents of the home.
Lifting up my petitions before the Most High, Brother.

Hey all, not to hijack the thread at all, but earlier this week I found out that my aunt and uncle in Philadelphia were hospitalized with suspected Wuhan flu. Tuesday it was confirmed, and I just got word that they’ve taken my uncle off the vent, comfort measures only… Aunt doesn’t seem quite as bad, but too early to tell.
Great news Fyr, Thanks for letting us know. We hear so much about the suffering that folks are going thru, but very little on successful recoveries. We include your Family in our prayers for continued healing.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Yeah, it sucks, but even with it hitting home personally, this STILL isn’t worse than the flu. I have siblings that are all wound up with the stupidity you might expect, and the thing is, if this had been the seasonal flu, they wouldn’t say a word… Sadly both of them had / have multiple co-morbidities, so it’s not surprising that it hit them especially hard.
So very sorry, Ff. Hope your Aunt pulls through, and is immunized from the virus.

Thanks all. Still no updates, other than my dad is now in the hospital with a pulmonary embolism, and due to this ChiCom virus, I can’t visit him… Fuck me!
