Bel Air man slashes would-be burglar Wednesday with knife, will not be charged, sheriff’s office says

By JAMES WHITLOW
A Bel Air man stopped a would-be burglar from entering his home after he refused to give him money Wednesday night, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 1200 block of Athens Court in Bel Air around 11:50 p.m. for a report of an attempted burglary. As they drove there, deputies were told the person was still trying to force his way into the house.

When they got there, deputies saw 38-year-old Mark Brandenberg of Bel Air still trying to gain entry to the home, police said.

Brandenburg was bleeding from apparent knife wounds to his upper body and taken to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. He was later transferred to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. He is now in stable condition, police said.

The initial investigation determined that Brandenberg approached Stephen Brown, a 26-year-old who lived nearby, and demanded money from him, according to police. Brown was outside his home at the time and refused, so Brandenberg allegedly tried to follow him into his house.

Alleged burglar shot, killed; another suspect arrested

By: Julia Dendinger
TOME—An attempted burglary in Tomé Sunday morning has left one Valencia County man dead
and another in custody.
Valencia County deputies were called to a burglary in progress on N.M. 47 in Tomé shortly after 7 a.m., Sunday, March 22. When they arrived, deputies found Jason Shadron, 41, of Los Lunas, dead in the front seat of a stolen pickup truck.

Valencia County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Joseph Rowland said items left at the scene
identified a second suspect — Sammy Armijo, 40, of Los Chavez — who fled on foot.
The department isn’t releasing many details about the Sunday shooting since it is still under
investigation, the lieutenant said.

“Somebody at the home fired the shot that killed Mr. Shadron,” Rowland said. “There is no known
association between Jason and Sammy, and the people at the residence.
“It appears the two of them arrived together in the stolen truck, which we believe is the truck
reported stolen by Armijo’s in-laws.”

Armijo was found and arrested late Monday afternoon, Rowland said.

“We located a vehicle that was associated with (Armijo) driving around. We stopped it but he was
not in the vehicle,” Rowland said. “The driver said he got the vehicle from Armijo’s in-laws on Peyton Road (in Los Chavez).”

Wonder if Mr. Armijo will be charged in the death of his partner-in-crime, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. He would be in Florida, which makes me smile.

Cap-n-ball guns will do the job. One has to understand their quirks, and their proper use, but they are more than sufficient if more modern choices are contra-indicated.

I prefer the Remington New Model Army, but am quite happy with Colt’s offerings.

I have a ’58 Army and I’d rather get hit with a Bazooka than that .454 lead ball.

Dahell everybody at? I know that the comment count on the FGS is normally lowerer, but still. Y’all need to give an accounting of yourselves. Myself I have been otherwise occupied and missed the doubling of the WOT Count and have yet to get to ‘Ed’s musings. I’ll get to both.

We will take credit for the poor man’s trifecta in that 3 dirtbags have been removed from society, albeit only one for all time. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the other two will catch a good staph infection or the onset of sepsis. A broken taint from Mr. “Tiny” will work too, as always.

Slight nit to pick, knowing you were in a rush to post these up and get back to attending Mrs AW1Ed’s needs. There is a Valencia County FL and it is full of dirtbags that bring us entertainment here on the FGS. However, this particular Valencia is in New Mexico. You are forgiven, but be careful…You may find yourself sentenced to being an Admin of a milblog, eating mid watch rations of fish head soup and kimchee.

Ahhh Mr. Sam Colt’s 1851 Navy, a .36 Caliber bronzed beauty. The Baby Brother to the .44 Army Colt’s Revolver. Another Sam, Griswold in this case, he too a former Connecticut Yankee, converted his manufacturing facilities in the town of Griswoldville, Jones County, Georgia to the production of this very design in 1862. He produced nearly 3600 of these very fine revolvers until ‘Cump Sherman’s boys came thru on their Retreat to the Sea. They burned the entire town with the exception of Mr. Griswold’s Home. If anyone were to run across an original Griswold/Gunnison “Reb Revolver”, I’d be willing to pay them, oh I don’t know, at least a coupla hundred USDs for it.

It is bad enough that were are forced to buy things, it is even worse that we are forced to pay taxes for things to be purchased for others with our money. The gubmint is just in the business of redistributing income.

Odd how the Navy has always preferred smaller balls, mmmhnnhh?

I concur with loving the 1858 Remington Army, but for sheer sexy lines the 1860 Army has ’em all beat. If Heather Locklear and Gina Gershon in their prime had a pistol as a love-child, it would be the 1860.

ah, the old “it’s not how big you are it’s how well you use it” canard. In bullets at least, size DOES matter. Ask yourself, would you rather be hit by a supersonic phonograph needle or a thrown bowling ball?
