Buzz Aldrin gives surprising response when asked about protecting himself from coronavirus

Col. ‘Buzz’ Aldren, USAF (Ret), fighter pilot- 66 combat missions in Korea, two kills, academic- Doctor of Science, Aeronautics from MIT, and the second man to walk on the moon, is taking reasonable precautions to protect himself from the Wuhan Virus.

Buzz Aldrin, who spent three weeks in quarantine after returning from the moon decades ago, is self-isolating amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“Lying on my ass and locking the door,” the former astronaut told ARS Technica when asked what he was doing to protect himself.
While the virus causes only mild or moderate symptoms for most people, the elderly and those with underlying health conditions face greater risks, according to medical experts. Aldrin, 90, was the second man to walk on the moon. He spent three weeks in quarantine after Apollo 11 returned in 1969. Along with fellow astronauts Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, the trio was escorted from their life raft to the U.S.S. Hornet and put into an Airstream trailer known as a mobile quarantine. They were then flown to Houston where they spent their time in a secure building, according to the tech magazine. The men spent three weeks inside the Lunar Receiving Laboratory to prevent the spread of any possible contagions they may have brought back to Earth.

Hang Tuff Buzz and take care of yourself. Not too many left that did a “real moonwalk.” Loved the travel voucher, seen that somewhere else, may even have been here. Know all about travel vouchers, 20+years of filling them damn things out, every.effing.day! I prolly drove 4 times the # of miles they flew during that 20+ years. It was well over 2 million, just for bidness.

I thought I knew a lot about Buzz, but surfing his Wikipedia page led me to his old man Colonel Edwin Aldrin Sr. Genuine military aviation pioneer. First CO of Army test pilots. Worked for Billy Mitchel and was social friend of Orville Wright and Jimmy Doolittle.
Retired as a colonel after 39 years of service from WWI through WWII and Korea (was in the reserves for that last one). He was in so long he survived the Air Force’s name change from the Army Air Service, the Army Air Corps, the Army Air Forces, and finally into the proper USAF.
Also, Buzz’s mom’s maiden name is Moon. I do think I’d heard that before, but it’s still funny.
