Detectives: Golden Stop Liquor shooting ‘self-defense’

CALEB LUNETTA
Detectives investigating the Golden Stop Liquor shooting that occurred Feb. 2 believe the store owner acted in self-defense when he reportedly shot and killed a suspect during a robbery.

“It’ll be presented to the district attorney,” sheriff’s Lt. Robert Westphal said, adding that he doubts the district attorney will press charges against the store owner.

Based on his investigation, Westphal believes the store owner acted in self-defense during a shootout in the store that left a store employee shot one time in a “lower appendage,” and the alleged robbery suspect — identified by the coroner as Brandon Nicholas Burris, 25, of Canyon Country — shot six times in the upper torso.

1 killed during shooting at Greenway-area store, police say

HOUSTON – An incident at a pawn shop in Houston’s Greenway area climaxed in a shooting that left on person dead Saturday, according to officials.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. at a pawn shop in the 3800 block of Richmond Avenue, near the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Weslayan Street.

Shortly before the shooting, an argument unfurled between pawn shop employees and several customers, police said. Soon after, shots were fired by employees and a truck backed into the pawn shop’s storefront.

Neville Li works at Pepper Tree Vegan Cuisine right next to the Pawn shop and recalls hearing the shots. “We heard two gun shots and I saw a truck ramming into the store next to us and it broke all the windows,” said Li.

A suspect fled the scene in a truck following the shooting. Police recovered that vehicle near the pawn shop, but are still searching for the suspect.

A trifecta to start the work week, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, with a spare in the wind. Not bad at all.

This one hits pretty close to home.

Nothing like a trifecta of DRTs FIRST thing of a Monday Morning to get Wilted Willy well on his way to recovery. Send the spare to distract the Nurse Ratched on his floor.

Real nice little hide-a-way hand cannon you gots there Mister. Good to see another boarder repeller that’s not a fugly little phuquer. A whole new meaning to the term, “get a pair of 38s!”

In your spare time teach your old dog self these new tricks…in addition to your other duties. If all else fails…get a bigger hammer. Can always be worse. The uniform of the day could be bike shorts and a fuzzy pink robe.

“According to officials, initial reports suggest that the victim was forcing his way inside of the home when he was shot by someone inside”

Important lesson here…make sure they are “inside”
and bleeding out on the floor when the police arrive.
Oh, and don’t forget to police up your brass.

Uh.. if the ‘victim’ was shot outside and dragged in, you are at minimum on the hook for screwing up a crime scene and your testimony will be suspect at best. Moving the body is very, very bad advice.

Messy. Very very messy.

Blood. Piss. Shit. Innard bits.

Yeah. No.

Folks who say “move the body indoors” have never -seen- a shot-dead body, let alone manufactured one.

“Contact gunshot wound”. I suggest you -not- look that one up. Seriously. Know that the shooter may be significantly decorated with the shootee, as may be adjacent everything. And even a plain old gunshot wound makes a significant mess. Fatality also tends to be fluidicly productive.

Yeah, no.

And “policing up your brass” at a shooting scene is also felonious tampering with a crime scene. The shoot may have been righteous, but you just bought felony-level slam-time by your psot-shoot antics.

Where do people get this stuff? Oh, right. Range commandos with zero creds or experience.

Sheeeeesh….

I made no mention of moving the body.
My point was to hold your fire until they
are inside the wire….so to speak.

Better yet, know the self defense laws in your state, have a good lawyer on retainer, and don’t forget to train, train, train, and practice, practice, practice.
