Authorities: Boy Justified In Fatal Stabbing Of Home Invasion Suspect In Allentown

ALLENTOWN, N.J. (AP) – A juvenile who fatally stabbed a man who was attempting a home invasion robbery was justified in using deadly force because he acted in self-defense, authorities have determined. Luis Nieves, 48, forced open the door of an Allentown home around 5:30 p.m. Sunday and started attacking the youth, who lived in the home, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office.

Nieves struck the youth with a metal cane during the struggle, and the boy stabbed Nieves.

Nieves and the youth were both taken to the hospital, where Nieves was pronounced dead a short time later. The youth, whose name and age were not released, was treated for undisclosed injuries and was later released.

Police: Man says he shot teen in self-defense

Traci L. Miller
ANDERSON — A teenager was in serious condition Friday after he was shot multiple times by a man who said the teen was trying to rob him at gunpoint.

Darrian Parkhurst, 23, of Anderson told police he shot Quentin Steffler, 18, of Anderson in self-defense around 4:09 a.m. Friday, according to Maj. Joel Sandefur with the Anderson Police Department.

Parkhurst told police he shot Steffler multiple times after Steffler tried to rob him while Parkhurst was sitting in his car in the 1500 block of Nichol Avenue, Sandefur said.

Steffler was found in the roadway of Laurel Street, near the 1500 block of Nichol Avenue, with gunshot wounds, Sandefur said. Parkhurst stayed at the scene of the shooting until police arrived, then was taken to the police department for questioning. Police said he was not under arrest.

Man won’t be charged in fatal light-rail stabbing near Mall of America

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office will not file charges in the fatal stabbing this week on a Blue Line light-rail train in Bloomington.

In a news release, the office said the 67-year-old man suspected in the Thursday stabbing will not be charged “as we would be unable to disprove a claim of self-defense.”

The stabbing occurred about 1 a.m. Thursday after a verbal altercation between two men as the northbound train left the Mall of America station. They exchanged words, which led to a physical fight. At one point one of the men pulled a knife, officials said.

Anthony Demetrius Watson, 45, of Minneapolis, was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis, where he died.

“…unable to disprove…” Sounds a lot like PDRofMD’s “Not Disapproved” when applying for a registered firearm license. Read the rest here: Star Tribune

Slow start to the work week, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. I’m good with that.

Resistance to sudden violence, for the preservation not only of my person, my limbs, and life, but of my property, is an indisputable right of nature which I have never surrendered to the public by the compact of society, and which perhaps, I could not surrender if I would. — JOHN ADAMS

One of my old GF’s carried a nickle plated
Raven in her purse. She ran off with a biker who
is now dead. Good.

There is a lot to unpack right there…

So, can we take a knee at any Kobe memorials?

To “raise rape culture awareness” – of course.

USAF RET

You won’t hear a peep about rape……and i am shocked there isn’t already a statue in the works.

I think the reporter at the Post that started tweeting that after the announcement has been suspended for “stepping on her colleges news story”. Apparently you can’t talk about what a bad person he also was at the same time you praise him for how great he was lately!

Allentown –>PA not NJ Friggen fake news outlet.

Hondo

Actually, Allentown, NJ, exists – and is considerably closer to Philly (about 20 miles) than Allentown, PA (about 35 miles). It’s just east of Trenton. It might even be considered part of the greater Philadelphia/Trenton metro area.

So yes, the article could well be
referring to an incident in Allentown, NJ.

“Slow start to the work week…” Oh I wouldn’t say that Bro. Two POSes on the never ending dirtnap and another with a good potential for a nice staph infection. Maybe if that POS had been shot with something like that most beautimous Wilson 1911 instead of a fugly peashooter (a) he would be dirt napping too, (b) wouldn’t have been shot multiple times, (c) Wilted Willy woulda had hisself a nice trifecta of DRTs for a Monday.

“What is it with Allentown?” Well according to one of the commenters on the video link that ‘beans provided, it’s a nice place if you like getting shot. There was NOTHING wrong with little Katie “Scarlett” Johnston the broadcast reporter in the story linky. If my CBS local had her I might watch them. She needs to be kissed…and often…by someone who knows how.

“…unable to disprove.”?!? ?daHell?!? Newspeak at work? Paid by the letter/word? Bonus for making awkward sentence structure?

Sympathies to the families of the folks that died in the chopper crash. Not much of a basketball fan here, and have NEVER tried to make a sports player any type of hero. Way yonder more respect for the lowest ranking REMF wearing the uniform of our country that the highest paid prima donna making large bucks to play a game. Zero respect for any that disrespect the flag and/or force their attentions on unwilling females.

David

The MN phrasing sounds like ‘damning with faint praise’ and should be translated to ‘we think he’s guilty but also know we can’t convict so why press charges’.
For some reason people think guns are “clean” defenses and knives are “dirty”. Never understood that.

Never bring a cane to a knife fight especially if you want to raise cane. I caine’t believe he tried using a cane.

There was an incident around 1997 at the Tucson mall. Some ute trying to better himself decided he’d be even better with a new ride. The elderly gentleman who owned the Cadillac disagreed, and beat the ute senseless with his cane. Police were quick to state that this was not the preferred method of dealing with a carjacker, the alleged thief was unavailable for comment.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

A cane can be used to start a Mutiny, and of course a lot of you have heard of the Cane Mutiny.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

I left out the letter i in caine mutiny to save the ribbon ink, caine’t I?

David

Cane can alsobe used to beat a member of Congress.

Nothing is as sweet and good as a hot buttered cat headed biscuit covered in real sugar cane syrup.

Steve1371

My wife and I are going to Fla. in a couple weeks. Is there any place down there I might get some of those cat head biscuits down there?

5th/77th FA

Steve1371, get off the interstates onto the old state or federal routes into the downtown areas of just about any small town in the South. You’ll find a locally owned/operated “City Diner”, “Kountry Kitchen”, or similarly named “City Cafe.” They’ll have ’em. For chain stores food, the best to try would be Cracker Barrel, they make an excellent biscuit and a good cornbread muffin. Just about all towns now days do have a website you can go to and it’ll list a contact # and usually a list of local business. If you just gonna wing, look for a place with local tags, cop cars, or utility trucks. Fast food wise, you can get lucky at a Bojangles. Have fun, be careful. Don’t y’all get goofy with Mickey and Minnie.

Steve1371

Thanks for the tips! We are not going to Disney. Been there done that. Hope to do a little fishing and plan to go to the Orange Blossom Opry.
