Jackson couple awaken to find man holding baby breaking through their front door
The neighbor thought a man running into his home on Verdemont Drive was an intruder and fired his gun.

By Morgan Howard and David Kenney
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Harlen Cavett and his wife were in bed asleep in their Verdemont Street home when they were awakened by the sound of broken glass Monday morning around 6:30 a.m.

“We heard a loud banging at our door,” Harlen Cavett said. “By the time I came out of the bedroom, I see the person in the glass.”

Cavett says suddenly the man burst through the door. He raised his gun and fired, and then stopped stunned to see what was in his arms.

“I saw he had a baby girl and he was holding the baby like a human shield,” Cavett said. “He ran through my house and went in there and got in my bed holding the baby as such in my bed.”

Harlen says the man started mumbling strange things. He called police who arrived and removed the man and baby.

Both had minor injuries from breaking through the glass.

“My thought was they were coming in to actually hurt us,” said Cavett.

2 dead, including gunman, 15 injured in Kansas City shooting
Authorities said a nightclub security guard killed gunman.

By Jon Haworth and Bill Hutchinson
A 25-year-old woman was killed and 15 people were injured outside a Kansas City, Missouri, nightclub on Sunday night when a gunman let loose a barrage of shots before he was gunned down by a security guard, authorities said on Monday.

The shooting happened outside the 9ine Ultra Lounge, where several hundred people had gathered, many celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs’ American Football Conference championship and a birth to the team’s first Super Bowl in 50 years, said Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas.

“We’re here today because something happened last night that marred what was an exciting night, a euphoric night for the people of Kansas City,” Lucas said at a news conference Monday afternoon. “First of all, this city will never stand for this type of gun violence. We will continue to try to stop it before it starts and we’ll make sure that with any investigation we’re bringing folks to justice.”

He conceded the shooting mirrors “a problem in Kansas City.”

“We’ve said a few times that it is an epidemic of gun violence. We’re losing too many lives. We have too many people shot each year,” the mayor said.

That MS story is interesting.
Was the man kidnapping the child?
Was he saving the child?
Were drugs involved? (sounds like they were)
In this case it’s GOOD that the homeowner missed his target.

We may have to wait awhile, but hopefully more details over time.
Or, maybe we’ll never know.

Or it could be as simple as the country song “Jackson”;
“we been talkin’ ’bout Jackson
ever since the fire went out….”

Nah. Nothing is ever that simple.

Slim pickin’s indeed, but never a shortage of idiots trying to harm innocents. Kudos to the good guys with guns and prayers raised for the KC dead and wounded. There is a plethora of idiot, no writing, no proof reading, no syntax using reporters. “Sister Mary Grace to the detention hall please. Bring your ruler and pencil.”

KC story already disappearing since there was no crazy white dude with a scary black rifle involved. It was another example of black on black crime, going by the pictures of the victims shown on the clip. Claw may want to spin up the Whiz Wheel for Jahwan. *sigh* Check out the comments on the KC story. I went thru the FIRST page of them and not a single one was blaming Trump. A goodly # screaming for more gunz control lawz.

That first case is why I also have pepper spray in my night stand. In my small studio apartment the door is pretty close to the bed and I’d most likely have a second or two to work through escalation of force. The ax is also near by. Also glocks throughout the apartment, you know, just in case.
That space cadet is lucky, sounds like the kid will be ok-ish.

Re the gunpron, magpul for whatever reason doesn’t make OD SGA stocks for the 500 anymore. My dream 500 is the brushed Nickel on the Mariner combined with an OD stock and pump. The thing os pricey but if your going to buy a tool make it a great one!

I stumbled on to a 500 ATP in a pawn shop years ago- original finish and wood furniture. Love that thing! I call it Splatterblast…

Great find! Truly great guns. Anytime I see one in a gun store around $200 I buy it.
One can never have too many ‘parts guns’.

Gotta love the prejudicial words used in the ABC story (just like the dims impeachment fiasco), that the gunman was “gunned down” by a security guard… how about they say “the gunmans rampage was ended without further harm byt the quick thinking and accurate shooting of a security guard”… nah, doesn’t stick with the narrative that gunz are bad…

But don’t worry, the media isn’t biased…
