Northeast Harris County stepfather shoots stepson in possible act of self-defense, police say

By Stefania Okolie
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a domestic shooting in northeast Harris County.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of Isetta Lane near Sweeney Road after a man was allegedly shot by his stepfather during a dispute.

Police believe the shooting may have been an act of self-defense.

An elderly couple lives at the home with their stepson.

Family members tell police that the 38-year-old stepson may have been violent with them in the past.

Saturday night, things escalated even further and police say the elderly stepfather pulled out a gun and shot his stepson once.

Authorities say he was shot in the stomach and taken to the hospital.

He underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Knife-wielding woman shot at nightclub, police say\

By WAYNE K. ROUSTAN
A woman was shot after attacking a nightclub owner with a knife, Fort Lauderdale police said.

It happened about 10 p.m. Friday at 905 N.E. Fifth St., said Detective Tracy Figone.

The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for a single gunshot wound, Ficone said.

It was not immediately known what charges were pending because the investigation was ongoing, she said.

The incident occurred in Flagler Village at the Glitch Bar, an adult arcade — also known as a “bar-cade” — with free pinball machines and video games and themed alcoholic beverages.

“The Glitch Bar experience can be defined as part local watering hole, part vintage arcade and part late night party,” according to its website.

SC homeowner sees man snatch package from porch, holds him at gunpoint, police say

BY DAVID TRAVIS BLAND
A man who took a package from a homeowner’s porch found himself in the sites of a gun Friday, according the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested and charged Marvin Marshall with petit larceny following his attempt to snatch the package from the home, an act in which participants have become known as “porch pirates.” The home is on War Admiral Lane in Moncks Corner, the sheriff’s office said.

A deputy said in a report that Marshall claimed he was driving around Friday afternoon, looking for lawns to cut when he began to have car trouble. Marshall pulled over to see what was wrong with his car.

While inspecting his car, Marshall saw a package near the front door of a house, a deputy said. He went to the door, knocked and no one answered.

“At that moment Marshall thought it would be a genius idea to take the package and put it into his car,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.

It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood. —JAMES MADISON

Role playing a porch pirate on “War Admiral Ln”. Genius!

I saw that too, but ya beat me to it.

BTW, what’s your excuse for being up so early?

My dogs think they need to go outside and get fed every morning at 5:15. 🙄 ☕

Always have to take good care of “the children”, no matter their species or age.

(Continuation of top story:)

And when the stepson is released from the hospital, he will find his clothes and possessions boxed and piled up on the front porch, and all the door locks changed.

The Porch Pirate story reporter and his/her/its editor needs to learn the finer nuances of spelling.
In this case, it’s “gun sights”, not “gun sites”.

Sister Mary Grace needs her big ruler too. How about the “petit larceny?” Was it a small box? Or was there a pastry 4 count involved? Or should it have been “petty larceny” from a racing guy named Richard? And what about Ms Thang at the “Adult Arcade?” You get a free lap dance with a high score on the pinball machine? Did she take a knife to a gun fight? And why IS GDC here so early? Catching up on war profiteering after the holiday? /s/ And Ex-PH2 must be feeling better stirring around this morning? Too many questions?

Real nice Bay rhetta 92 you gots there Mister. That is, if you are into that sort of thing.

I make $200K a year, working from home, by making jingoistic comments on military blogs. Usually, I’m all done by noon. It’s a hard life.

Believe the origin of ‘petty’ IS ‘petit’, and you would have to look at the law as written to know whether charges of petty larceny or petit larceny are appropriate.

Believe the sarcastic humor dripping from my comment should be obvious. Maybe next time I’ll use the large /S/ instead of the small /s/. Read thru it again and if you don’t express mirth at a high decibel level see the supply Daddy Claw and he will issue you a sense of humor. I could explain the syntax intended but it loses a lot when you have to ‘splain them Lucy.

It’s like understanding the cartoon that shows a puzzled looking Mexican next to the hose and the sign that says ‘Fire Jose’ – too many languages are confusing sometimes.

Porch pirates. It’s why I live where I do, out of the line of sight of these clowns.
I know, I know: it won’t last forever, but there’s always someone home in my neighborhood.

I have a fair sized shrub hedge in front of my front door.
If you weren’t following the delivery truck and didn’t see him make a stop, you’d never know there was a package on the porch.
