This is predicted go on with the Sun reaching its deepest solar minimum by April 2020 and then a new cycle will begin with a Solar Maximum in July 2025. The unanswered question is whether or not the Sun will wake up and starts its usual sneezing and burping solar flares, or just go on snoozing. We haven’t really had a Dalton or Maunder Minimum in a while. During the Little Ice Age, a lot of discoveries were made in all aspects of society, and eggs were nearly worth their weight in gold because the winters really were cold enough to freeze them solid. What came out of the Little Ice Age? Exploration and discovery, inventions, the Industrial Revolution…. there’s a long list.
If you think the weather is erratic now, well – just blame it on the Democrats, okay? They have a wealth of hot air with no substance to back it up, so it’s a perfect match. And those people who want to put us all on wind turbines and solar power want to take us off gas & oil products for cooking, heat and lelectricity…. because Gorebull Warming is going to burn up the planet! Sorry, but that won’t happen until the Sun becomes a red giant in 4.5 billion years. (It would be nice if they actually knew anything, wouldn’t it?)
Lake Michigan has an elevated surface level of 33 inches above previous levels. This is being watched closely in all the Great Lakes by the Army Corps of Engineers, because they will the people who move in to repair damaged shorelines. If it’s possible to repair damages, they’ll do it, but there is a vast erosion cycle of Lake Michigan shorelines going on now, threatening houses built on those ancient dunes (left over from the last glacial meltback) and unless someone has magical powers, Michi Gamu and Gichi Gamu (Superior) are not going to slow their attacks on those shores.
And while I”m at it, Al Gore (bull) is now supporting AOC’s GND, because it does not have to have any substance to it to get his support. Not a joke:

I do believe in Climate Change!
The climate of Earth will change, as the planet goes through its thousands year cycle. The poles shift, and eventually (in a few million years) what we know as Magnetic North will be closer to Magnetic East (or West depending on which continent you are standing). The poles will melt and refreeze. The continent of Antarctica will be become a new beach resort, and all those ancient maps of conspiracy theory will be forgotten because…well its real! Nothing mankind can do will compare with the threat of Mother Nature and how she spews CO2 into the air in her anger (volcanos) or dumps water (rain) or dries lands. What we can do is take head from some experts out there and learn to reclaim land (there is an amazing story on using cattle farming to reclaim desert land)! We can use renewable resources (so we are not beholden to a government or big industry) and reuse materials so we don’t have to pollute and destroy…it is not about one resource being better than another, but the economy of use! Our Native American ancestors used everything they could and wasted none, but they were stuck in a paradox of advancement. If they had learned to smelt iron, but not poison the land, mine resources but also build underground shelters in the dug out hole to protect themselves when Mother Nature reared her head…they would have resisted the invaders, or at least learned to live in harmony and teach the immigrants to respect the land!

I think you have been drinking the Kool-Aid about the “noble red man” who “used everything and wasted nothing,” living in perpetual harmony with Mother Nature. You should watch the movie, “The Robe.” Also, read the book, “Captured by the Indians,” first hand accounts of those captured by the beloved Native Americans. There is a cliff in Wyoming called “Buffalo Jump” because the beloved Native American ancestors drove herds of buffalo off the cliff. You really think less than a hundred Indians could utilize all of the carcasses of over a hundred buffalo? The only reason our Indians had little impact on the environment were there numbers and lack of technology. You can’t have wheel ruts in the prairie if you haven’t discovered the wheel. Ever wonder how carbon neutral it was when your Mom or Dad were being burned alive by some tribe that captured them, all for the entertainment of the tribe? They were also quite fond of using those they captured that they let live as slaves. Sorry to disillusion you.
Some Indians were environmentally-conscious in their own way. Others were every bit as destructive as Europeans are accused of being, if not more. Many tribes also practiced slavery. Many tribes held some rather unfortunate views on the acceptability of rape. Some tribes considered murdering a rival’s children a perfectly acceptable practice of warfare. Many, many tribes are unrepresented today because they were slaughtered by other tribes over political and/or economic rivalries (such as what land belonged to whom; property was very much a thing, contrary to popular belief) long before any Spaniard, Italian, or Viking crossed the Atlantic.
I think that is why they were referred to as “savages” for about 250 years. Seems it was based upon many decades of empiric evidence aka inconvenient history.
The thriving Anasazi civilization disappeared because their verdant and fertile patch of northern Arizona became a desert over a span of less than 20 years. This happened a millennium before the first internal-combustion engine of any kind was fired up. This climatic shift also destroyed the Mississippian Mound-Builders and the ancient Lake Titicaca civilization in Bolivia.

Anyone paying attention over a few decades will begin to notice patterns emerging. The climate changing warmer/colder, FBI unauthorized investigations, We’re also due to have a bunch of de-regulation coming up soon as well. Yeah, nobody wants to read histories anymore…easier to repeat them.

I’m in favor of solar heating my living room and the entire south side of my house. Cuts my gas usage bill just a tad.
Here’s a video on recent snow events in the Middle East. The narrator is promoting stockpiling based on the idea that all governments (including US?) will take control of food supplies. I can see that in Europe, but not here. We do a lot of trade with Mexico for fresh stuff, year-’round. He also has a list of sources.

I know this was tongue-in-cheek, and I’ve been too busy to jump into this thread for the most part, but I just wanted to point out that climate and weather are different.
It’s a bit like saying how my weight changes daily, hourly even. But that doesn’t mean that epidemiological studies on obesity that show a growth trend are somehow false.
Oh, we all know that, LC. It’s the Greenbeaners aka Warmunistas (and their political enablers) who can’t tell them apart. 🙂
I read a very interesting article about how Scotland is trying to stay in the EU instead of Brexiting with England, and how badly things went for the Scots during the Maunder Minimum (1600s) with the widespread cold and food shortages. I don’t think we’ll face that here, but we might face higher prices. Depends on how the weather goes and whether or not Spring is delayed next year and thereafter.

Al Gore Junior could not be reached for comment, but I’m sure that he’ll tell us to send him more money. Talk about a huge hypocrite, he owns many properties he inherited from his Father, one of which has a large zinc mine on it, and not one of his mansions has even a single solar cell or power windmill on it. Just like the other limousine/Lear Jet liberals, he’ll travel via a private jet and limousine to stay in a hotel suite larger than most single family homes to appear someplace to tell us to eat bean sprouts and ride the bus!
And isn’t John Kerry also jumping on this pony now? Guess the ketchup business is weakening.
Just as the American Taxpayer and citizens have been expected to be the police force of the world for the last hundred years, now we are expected to pay a tax to clean up the world and adjust the climate. As everyone else has commented we have had climate change/weather since the atmosphere started forming. Paying another tax ain’t gonna change that. As Ex pointed out in the article we shut up/get rid of the politicians and we get rid of a lot of hot air. That alone could trigger another mini ice age.
We have roughly 150 years worth of weather records. Maybe records that we record now exist because there was no one at that place/point in time when a certain section had record snow/rain/earthquake/high wind/flood or whatever. This blue marble gonna continue to rotate ol Sol and buzz thru space until either we blow it up with nukes or the Cyborgs/Klingons/Romulans/Kardashans/Borg/Terminators/Marvin the Martian come by and do it for us.
ps Right now I have a fairly good supply of cookies…and ice cream.
