2nd Amendment is Not Yet Under Fire

| December 16, 2019

“Societies exist under three forms sufficiently distinguishable. 1. Without government, as among our Indians. 2. Under governments wherein the will of every one has a just influence, as is the case in England in a slight degree, and in our states in a great one. 3. Under governments of force: as is the case in all other monarchies and in most of the other republics. To have an idea of the curse of existence under these last, they must be seen. It is a government of wolves over sheep. It is a problem, not clear in my mind, that the 1st. condition is not the best. But I believe it to be inconsistent with any great degree of population. The second state has a great deal of good in it. The mass of mankind under that enjoys a precious degree of liberty and happiness. It has it’s evils too: the principal of which is the turbulence to which it is subject. But weigh this against the oppression of monarchy, and it becomes nothing. Malo periculosam, libertatem quam quietam servitutem* . Even this evil is productive of good. It prevents the degeneracy of government, and nourishes a general attention to the public affairs. I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.1 Unsuccessful rebellions indeed generally establish the encroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions, as not to discourage them too much. It is a medecine necessary for the sound health of government.” – Thomas Jefferson to James MadisonParis, January 30, 17872

The 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution is not under fire here. It is the right of the people to bear arms, a federal law. We the People are under fire.

It is the politicians who are brainless control freaks, afraid of their own shadows, and who happily assert that people are out to get them, who want to get yer guns away from you. Beto’s “Hell, yes, we’re gonna take yer guns!” may have gotten some applause from a limited audience, but it simply shows that he is a parasitic slug pandering to the lowest common denominator… and now he’s out of the race.   And can you actually imagine Pelosi ever saying that people want to shoot her when she isn’t even worth the cost of a bullet?

Be grateful for small things, people.

Gun Rights Watch’s map of gun sanctuary counties in Virginia covers 99% of the state. Note that on the map of states that have gun sanctuary counties, nearly all of Virginia is green, and there is a full list of counties and cities/towns that have passed gun sanctuary resolutions.

http://gunrightswatch.com/news/2019/11/24/virginia/virginia-has-become-an-overnight-tidal-wave-of-second-amendment-sanctuaries/

The same movement is now underway in Texas, which does not have restrictive gun laws and wants to make sure that things stay that way.  The problem in states like Illinois is that the guns on the street in the hands of teenagers are stolen from various sources, including those boxcars parked in the South Side railyards, and handed out like candy to teenagers.

Someone please tell me what business a 13-year-old kid has being in a car late at night, driven by someone in the Latin Kings gang, and shooting and killing a complete stranger, who happened to be a nurse in scrubs on his way to his family’s home with a basket full of laundry?  Yes, the cops do have this snotnosed jerk 13YO in custody now but have not given out any other information about him. There is more to come on this, which I will post when it is appropriate. The man gunned down was a good man, per his girlfriend, his friends and his mother. He had NO gang affiliations. He was, in fact, aiming at being an ER nurse to help people on the front lines of violence.

Yes, the violence has to stop, but all the legislation in the world will not stop it. It has to be stopped by people who are sick of it. It isn’t the guns at fault here.  It’s the people who misuse them.

It’s possible that Northam’s idiocy can get him recalled from office – yes, citizens can do that. At the state level, it can be done in 20 states including Virginia, and while there is nothing to indicate that the other 30 states have such laws, it may become a necessity.

In the 20 states that allow recall elections, citizens can vote to remove an elected official from office at any time. Typically, the recall process consists of gathering a certain number of signatures on a petition in a certain amount of time. Beyond this, details of the recall process vary by state. The following information explains these processes and provides a list of each state’s laws governing the recall of state officials. – http://www.ncsl.org/research/elections-and-campaigns/recall-of-state-officials.aspx

At the bottom of this page is a map of the states that allow recall of elected officials. Virginia is only one of them.  In that state, it might be a good idea for the head of the local National Guard units to tell Northam that the Guard is not meant to confiscate legally owned property and that this ain’t the 18th century, either.

Sorry I didn’t post this sooner, but the discussion needs to be carried far and wide and the emphasis should always be placed on those who try to overturn any Constitutional right that I, for one, do not take for granted. Those who wish to confiscate our property in the form of guns may decide, if we do not resist loudly and often, that they have the right to billet troops in our homes with no compensation, and to tax everything they can see (which they try to do, anyway) because….

Last, but certainly not least, this article contains drafts of two bills the current Governor of Virginia has proposed to support his gun seizures. The part about cutting off utilities seems to be gossip, but nothing surprises me any more.  https://johnbwellsnews.com/virginia-governor-reportedly-orders-plans-to-cut-electric-phones-internet-for-gun-confiscations/

Like I said, this ain’t the 18th century, people.

Remember, there are more of us than there are of them. I think that’s what spooks them the most.

Well we just moved to New Mexico over a year ago
And every please outside of the people’s republic
Of Santa Fe and Albuquerque is now a firearm safe
Place thanks to all the crazies forcing crazy gun laws down our throats

AW1Ed

Nearly 400 million firearms in the United States, and an estimated 30 to 50 BILLION rounds of ammunition.

Let them legislate- this Genie isn’t going back into the bottle- and their laws are unenforceable.

Great post, Ex.

Here’s hoping that they get their asses handed to them at the ballot box without enough cheat votes to keep them in Orifice!

Can’t wait till Thursday to mention this, but your last Thursday’s pasta, sausage, tomatos recipe turned out great when I made it last Saturday.

Spot on and very timely post Mi’Lady. The 2nd A is the amendment that protects all of the other Rights that we were endowed with by the Founders. And, so very unfortunately, ALL of our Rights are under assault by the very people who are charged with the elected sworn defense of same. It is true that these people are afraid of us. Just as the frog placed in the pot of cold water doesn’t realize the burner is turned on until it is too late, so we were finding ourselves. Enough people were realizing this and the power hungry control freaks then decided to attempt to further divide We The People by any method that they could. Kinda sorta the same thing that the politicians, business leaders, and the media did in 1860.

I do not fear very much the invasion of our land by a foreign power. I do have concerns that we will be destroyed from within by the “free sh^t army” and their handlers.

Molon Labe….Never Surrender!…Never Retreat!

Since Our Natural Rights (read:God given) were Enumerated, since the time when only the Citizens’ Militia had cannon and gun, since the time of the FIRST attempt at Liberty, there has been but one side to yield, the Militia.
We have traded Our tools of Freedom, Our rifles, for Our chains one link at a time.
If this time we don’t evoke Lexington, next? The time after that? When they finally put all resistance in jail or worse?
Tyranny can be the softest of powers until it has enveloped everything you see, then the hardest overnight.
Let us fight now, let us quash this hardening of the foe of Liberty.

The Free Shit Army just doesn’t understand that a government big enough to give you everything you need can also take away everything you have. In the words of Harry Dean Stanton, “I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees.”

Roh-Dog

I wish this FSA would just look around at the filth, decay, sit down and have a long think about how it all happened.
The rot here in central CT has one root cause: out of control government spending, full stop.
Damn the demons that sold the future for votes!!!!!
‘Angry’ doesn’t even come close…

A Proud Infidel®™

IMHO the D-rat party and the left have brainwashed their FSA in their effort to turn the United States of America into a third world shithole with NO middle class, just filthy poor peons and an extra-rich privileged elite, nothing else. Those useful idiots of the FSA who think that they’ll be rewarded by being part of the elite will instead be just occupants of mass graves somewhere just like how the likes of Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Pol Pot and others disposed of their useful idiots once they were no longer deemed useful.

^ this times 20.20 x 10^45!!!!
I wonder if Our Constitution has any mechanisms to enforce Free Markets by ensuring Individual Sovereignty?

Show me a law abiding criminal and i’ll show you a gun law that works….

Until then it’s just all about control(3 shots 3 x’s or close) and keeping your powder dry.

A Proud Infidel®™

Yes indeed, when was the last time anybody saw criminals lining up to turn their guns in as soon as a new law was passed?

Obligatory cool movie clip, of course:

Not according to the FBI and DOJ.

Roh-Dog

A little birdie told me the letters can go to FISA and get ‘look around’ warrants, you’ll never know ‘cause its a pencilwhip secret court.
PATRIOT Act my left nut.

rgr769

Yes. They are called “national security letters” and they send them to whichever company they choose for all your data. For example, they can go to your internet provider or your phone company and obtain whatever digital info they have on you. No judge or court will ever see the letter or the FBI/DOJ’s reasons for seeking the info.

ArmyATC

The greatest thing the left has going for them right now is their dishonesty and the ignorance of the electorate. The left routinely lies about guns and gun owners, constantly fear mongering about those “deplorables and their assault rifles.” The general population eats it up in their ignorance of guns in general. I don’t know how many conversations I’ve had on the subject where I correct a few points and the person I’m conversing with says, “I didn’t know that.” Education is key. But make sure your facts are correct. The left loves to paint our mistakes as lies while claiming their lies are mistakes. And they have a complicit media to help spread their lies.

Then they change the gun control product every few years, relabeling it to make it more confusing and palatable for the unknowing. Hence we go from “assault weapons” to “assault rifles” to make them even scarier and “gun control” to “gun safety.” Who can argue against gun safety, even if it is a cover for the original product gun control? This happens whenever the people start catching on to what the left is really trying to do. Same shit, different package.

SFC D

I have an elderly widow lady next door, she’s probably the most rabid Trump / gun hater I’ve ever seen IRL. Constant facebook screeds about Trump, conservatives, and mexicans too. MRS D and I help her out with stuff from time to time, you know, the neighborly thing to do. If she only knew how I voted or the guns I may or may not own, she’d probably stroke out. God only knows what would happen if I showed up to help her, wearing a MAGA hat.

Mason

Shirt tail relative is one of those. She one time openly lamented that she wished “we” could take all the Republicans, put them in one place, and “just kill them all”. This was back in W’s first term. I can only imagine the vitriol towards anyone on the right she spews now.

Stopped by this lady’s house on my way home from drill once. She asked if I’ll “have to go to that awful Iraq.” I tell her I’ve volunteered a couple times but haven’t been selected. “You volunteered!?!” Couldn’t wrap her head around the thought. Which shouldn’t be too surprising since her husband hid from the draft through deferments and playing ROTC.

A Proud Infidel®™

It sounds like they’re of the breed who would claim that they also served even though it was just a semester or two of ROTC! I myself have a wacko liberal Sibling, she’s a Bernie-head, thus I have to answer “Yes” if I get asked if there’s any mental illness in my immediate family.

David

I question the headline. The 2nd is not under attack? Really?

Cameron Kingsley

I firmly believe there are a lot of things that are are about to change in the US. Mainly the way the government is ran and operated. The government really needs some more screws put into it (like term limits). Hopefully it will be reduced to the size it should have been under Section 8 of the Constitution, using the powers that are specifically delegated to it (that’s my ideal government).

A Proud Infidel®™

Especially Term Limits for Legislators, IMHO the DC lifers are the root of most of today’s problems!

“Politicians and diapers both need to be changed often and for the same reason.” – Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)

Cameron Kingsley

Amen API!

Docduracoat

I don’t see how you plan to recall the governor of Virginia.
He won by a majority of the votes.
The blue cities and the northern part of the state near Washington DC have more voters than the rest of the state.
Pro gun voters turned out in droves to try to prevent the blue wave.
Without some kind of electoral college all the states are subject to the tyranny of the majority in the cities

Fyrfighter

Dead right Doc, Colorado is a perfect example of that!

Perry Gaskill

Available data seems to indicate that a permanent lock on political control by big cities is not a given. The three largest metro areas in the country, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, are losing population. A lot of the urban dominance myth is a result of big-city news media bias, and former Obama administration pro-city policy.

The demographic reality is that roughly 20 percent of the population is urban, 20 percent is rural, and 60 percent is suburban/ex-urban. As much as the New York Times would hate to admit it, the near-term future is still suburbia no matter how much that idea might be despised by millennial hipsters in Brooklyn.

Here’s a link to an opinion piece by columnist Joel Kotkin which details what some of the issues are likely to be in the next election. Kotkin is not a fan of Trump, nor of the Progressive side of the Democrats. What he also seems to get wrong is not making a distinction between Trump illegal-immigrant versus legal immigrant policy. Still, the column is worth a read:

This is a lengthy but good flick about the Nuremburg Trials. Go toward the end where Goehring is on the stand and he goes on about how the Nazis had planned to stay in power at all costs once they got there and that’s just how I see today’s D-rats:
