Young robbery suspect shot dead by Houston man, police say

By Jay R. Jordan
One of two young robbery suspects was shot and killed during an attempted robbery in east Houston early Friday morning, according to police.

The pair, who are possibly juveniles, attempted to rob a man inside an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Fleming Drive, near the East Freeway, around 3:30 a.m., according to police. During the robbery attempt, the victim managed to pull a gun and shoot at the suspects, striking at least one of them, police said.

As the robbery suspects fled, one of them collapsed and was pronounced dead by paramedics. It is unclear if the second suspect was struck or captured.

Investigators work to unravel Weaver incident that left ‘stranger’ dead

By Donna Thornton
A woman reported to police and her father that a stranger was on her property Thursday night.

Her father got there first. Vehicles collided and shots were fired, and the incident ended with the stranger — who had not been positively identified by police Friday morning — dead.

According to a press release from Weaver Police Chief Wayne Bush, police got a complaint at 10:09 p.m. from a Lone Oak Drive resident, saying a man was on her property.

She had called her father before police, the chief said. Responding officers found her father, who lived nearby, had confronted the man as he was trying to hook up a truck to a camper located on the property.

The woman’s father tried to detain the man until police arrived, but he started to speed away. The father fired a shot from a pistol at the vehicle, trying to disable it so the man could not drive away.

The suspect fled at a high rate of speed on toward the only entrance/exit to Lone Oak Drive, but the woman’s father took the shorter route to try to cut him off and prevent his escape.

When he tried to block the suspect’s path, the suspect hit the back of the father’s truck, pushing the truck into Saks Road.

Two die in separate incidents

Separate violent incidents last week resulted in two deaths.

On Dec. 4 at approximately 9 a.m., the Bolivar County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call from a homeowner in the 4000 block of MS Highway 8 East.

He said three male subjects were attempting to break into his home and that shots had been fired.

Deputies arriving at the scene found Aundra Lambert Jr., 20, had been shot and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival to Bolivar Medical Center.

The two other suspects, Tyler Cameron, 20, and Jermaine Jones, 22, were apprehended with assistance from the Cleveland Police Department.

Both Cameron and Jones were charged with attempted burglary, shooting into an occupied dwelling and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Later that evening at approximately 10 p.m., Cleveland Police responded to a 911 call at 511 Lee St.

Police Chief Buster Bingham said officers arriving at the scene found Devonna Hutton, 36, lying on the ground.

A female subject was over Hutton performing CPR.

Pafford EMS arrived on the scene and determined Hutton had suffered a stab wound and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Ben Williams, 46, who is accused of stabbing Hutton after the two got into an argument that resulted in an altercation.

Been a rough day today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, so I’ll leave the totals and remarks up to the usual suspects. Hasta Mañana.

The Mrs. AW1Ed whomp you upside your head? Working too hard? Best take care of yo self! Who else are we gonna get to herd these cats? btw, Happy Herd Your Cats Day, today.

Off course I know you gots these all lined up the night before, and nobody appreciates it more than this old dog. That’s why I gave you a multiple choice of excuses… err…reasons for having a “rough day.” Imma gonna go with the “celebrate the win a little too vigorously” for $1000 Alex. Been a good while since you could celebrate a Navy over Army win, the Mrs prolly whomps you upside the head on a regular basis, and the cats are herding like a puppy tracking on a leash.

You keep it up, I’ll restock the fixin’ for the Irish Coffee. Nobody ever mentions it, but that addition of the “Sites that link to this post” feature is cool as hell. I get lost over there every Sunday.

I loved the army NAVY game outcome but what’s with those ugly helmets that Navy wore? Not talking about the numbers on them just the rest of the design.

Nice looking Korth wheel gun. When I shot comp, I had a Gunsmith down in Kennelworth NJ put on a Bo Mar rib, front and rear Bo Mar sights on my Mod 14 S&W .38 4 in. barrel wheel gun. great in Police L matches and used my duty issued Mod 10 S&W .38 4 in. bull barrel in combat matches. We used leather 6 rd. drop pouches on our duty belts and a number of years later, we used speed loaders until 9/11.
