Prosecutors will not charge man in Lone Tree apartment shooting death after self-defense claim
Man accused of assaulting him will not be charged either

Blair Miller
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. – Prosecutors said Friday they will not formally charge two men involved in an October fight at a Lone Tree apartment complex in which two handguns were pulled and a woman was shot and killed.

18th Judicial District Attorney George Brauchler and Chief Deputy District Attorney Gary Dawson announced Friday morning – ahead of 45-year-old Justin Chaney’s 8:30 a.m. court hearing – that they would not charge him with murder in the Oct. 18 shooting death of his neighbor , 24-year-old Kelly Kiess.

Brauchler and Dawson also announced that Kiess’s boyfriend, 22-year-old Andy Bernadeau, would not be formally charged with third-degree assault or any other crime for punching Chaney before the shooting at the WestView at Lincoln Station apartment complex on Park Meadows Drive in Line Tree.

Court documents had signaled that Chaney was claiming self-defense in the shooting, and the prosecutors said Friday that they had determined that was the case, along with investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. They said that they had determined that they did not have a reasonable likelihood of successfully prosecuting a murder charge against Chaney.

Another Three of a Kind today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes; one each DRT, inconvenienced, and in the wind. All-in-all a solid week for the good guys.

Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached, and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of. Notwithstanding the military establishments in the several kingdoms of Europe, which are carried as far as the public resources will bear, the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers, No. 46

A 3 of a kind is always a winning hand when it’s backed backed up by the works of the Saintly John Moses Browning (Howitzer be his name)

Ahhhh yes, the black haired beauty with deep dark eyes….. Wouldn’t mind a few night moves with that one.

Happy Thanksgiving y’all! Be sweet puppies to one another till I gets back.

Remember to keep on your toes come Friday. Keep that F5 key lubed and limber. A lot of people will be on Thanksgiving holiday, and ready, willing and able to attempt to dethrone you from your much vaunted attempts at a WOT 4-per. (or is it 5-per by now?)

I’m usually working at that time. But this Friday I’ll just sit back with the libations and popcorn and watch.

Florida Man strikes again. At 60 years old, you’d think he’d have learned another line of work, or would be getting ready to retire.

I’m in my late 60s (how da hell did THAT happen?), and have no plans to retire yet. But I’m not in the business of burgling.

There is something about a woman with a bullpup that excites me. I wonder if she can change a tire and rebuild a carburetor?

Better yet, can she make and bring me a sammich?
