The Movement Is Growing

| October 24, 2019

GDContractor, re: his new gun: 1941 Colt, COL. Robert Sears–Ordnance inspector (only 27,000 bear his initials). This pistol was one of 1500 shipped to Springfield Armory on 29May, 1941. Unrefinished. Not Arsenal rebuilt. Sweetheart grips, handmade. There’s a good chance this pistol killed Nazis.

It seems that the notion of a state, county, or municipality declaring officially itself a “gun sanctuary” is growing more than I had realized.  The article below, from a city in California located on the CA/NV border, is from July, but it is still relevant. The article about a growing number of gun owners in the Boston area is recent and also very relevant. As I indicated in the FGS article, the movement to create sanctuaries is growing, and we should keep up with it.

If you all like this, I will continue to post these reports.

The city of Needles, CA, is rebelling against the state’s strict gun laws, which do not recognize concealed carry licenses from other states.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/jul/16/needles-california-second-amendment-sanctuary-guns

From the article:  Now that the Needles city council approved the “second amendment sanctuary” resolution, the city of Tehachapi, over 200 miles away is looking to pass similar legislation.

Williams is hoping that other towns like Eureka and Lake Tahoe will follow suit to create a coalition of “second amendment sanctuary” cities that can take their efforts to California legislators.

“I don’t know if it’ll go anywhere but at a certain point you have to make a stand,” Williams said of the potential to have a “carve-out” of looser gun laws for border towns. – article

From Tennessee:  https://www.wbir.com/article/news/jefferson-and-sevier-counties-added-to-the-list-of-tennessee-gun-sanctuaries/51-7dc5d786-5960-4426-9893-7d398102bb0c

Commissioners in Jefferson County said it was important to them and members of the community to show support for the Second Amendment.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Jefferson and Sevier Counties are now considered “gun sanctuaries.”  They join Monroe, Blount and Loudon Counties who previously passed similar resolutions.

Both counties passed the Second Amendment gun sanctuary resolutions Monday night at their county commission meetings. This comes after the Town of Dandridge passed a similar resolution earlier in October.

It’s more like insurance.

For instance, One of the sponsors of the sanctuary resolution in Jefferson County, Todd Kesterson, said in a statement:

“We are seeing how many politicians on the Federal level are working toward gun confiscation in efforts to skew or change how the 2A reads. We feel like our freedoms are under attack and wanted to join several of our surrounding counties in letting the State and Federal Governments know that we disagree with these efforts.” – article

And in Massachusetts: https://www.patriotledger.com/news/20191018/as-debate-over-gun-control-wears-on-more-and-more-south-shore-residents-are-getting-licensed

In 20 communities south of Boston, the number of licenses issued from 2013 to 2018 was almost 50 percent higher than the number issued in the six years prior.

In 2009, 10 people were issued gun licenses in Hull, a town with a population of a little more than 10,000.

By 2017, the number of licenses issued in the town had shot up to 109.

Hull isn’t alone. Across two presidential administrations representing both parties, endless gun control debates and countless mass shootings, more and more people on the South Shore have sought gun licenses. – article

So there you have it: this ongoing reaction to politicians squawking about gun control this and that, and Mordant Idiots like O’Rourke pandering in his ignorance to the lowest common denominator (and making an ass of his slacker self) is demonstrating one of the principles of physics: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and we are seeing it at work, sometimes live on camera.

Being a “Resident” of the DPSRM, you would be surprised how many people here are armed. My gun club has over 200 members now and most clubs are seeing a membership increase. We can only shoot at designated ranges.

When I joined my club in 1991, there were six people in the new members class. The last class had over 100. It is people from all walks of life and cuts across the political spectrum.

So we aren’t all Scarf wearing, Latte sipping, liberals. But we even have those in the club because they are realizing what Bullsh!t the gun laws are.

Same thing happening here and it is driving
crime down but they won’t say that:

https://www.pressherald.com/2019/10/23/overall-crime-in-maine-has-declined-more-than-50-in-seven-years/

JacktheJarhead

I saw this the other day, not getting a lot of coverage by the MSM. But, yeah, crime went down when people can defend themselves, who woulda thunk it!

OldManchu

You can only shoot at designated ranges? Where in the world are you living? Honestly I can’t decipher the DPSRM unless it’s the Democratic Peoples Socialist Republic of Maryland?

Fyrfighter

Sadly, my “designated range” is currently down for renovation.. the abandoned real estate sign I was using for a target hanger had sustained irreparable damage, and I’m waiting for the snow to melt before I put up two steel plate racks… wish me luck

Any orphan firearms looking for sanctuary can find it at Firebase Magnolia. They will be loved unconditionally, fed a steady diet of clean cartridges and fresh Hoppes Oil. Those that are confused over their caliber orientation can have their own “safe space” closet. Shy ones will have their own door to hide behind. Those that are proud of their caliber will have their very own wall to hang out on. The sure ’nuff sexy ones will be in the bedroom. I promise to love honor and cherish each and everyone, til death do us part.

Maybe these other cities need to take a look see at the Kennesaw Georgia Ordinance for an idea on how it is done. While they’re at it they can compare the crime rate to the city and the outlying areas.

SFC D

D’s Cantina is also welcoming orphaned weapons. We offer a warm, low-humidity climate, safe spaces for all, and weekly field trips.

Toxic Deplorable Racist B Woodman

Ditto Woodman’s Wigwam for Wayward Weapons.
They need not all be tubular bangy weapons.
Edged and pointy works too, sharp or dull. They will all be carefully cared for, oiled, cleaned, sharpened (as appropriate).

And in spite of my nom de plume, any color is welcome through the door, even pink. (It’s not your fault you were made that way)

Even cast iron skillets are welcome.
(ducks, scoots under ExPH2’s skill-et-ful aim)

MRS D has a compact 1911 at the cantina… with pink grips. We celebrate diversity.

A Proud Infidel®™

A Proud Infidel®™ Manor also ALWAYS has a special warm, dry and safe place for any wayward and lonely firearms where they will steadily be fed ammo followed by a cleaning and oiling!

But, guns are evil!

If we can save just one single life by turning in all your guns, we must do it.

Think of the children!

And why do you need a gun anyway? You can hunt with bows. Or better yet, play video games. That way you don’t hurt any poor animals. Animals feel pain too. Veggie burgers are better for you too.

The safety of our nation requires that you turn in your guns.

Peace!

Toxic Deplorable Racist B Woodman

More childrens’ lives are saved in gun defense than in quivering cowardice.

Now why did you have to bring former Sheriff Israel (The Coward of Broward) into the discussion.

Florida recently made his exodus permanent.

Bye.

He’ll start up an armed security business and be telling people how his armed guards will protect them from the criminals, just like some of our POSers.

“A principal source of errors and injustice are false ideas of utility. For example: that legislator has false ideas of utility who considers particular more than general conveniencies, who had rather command the sentiments of mankind than excite them, who dares say to reason, “Be thou a slave;” who would sacrifice a thousand real advantages to the fear of an imaginary or trifling inconvenience; who would deprive men of the use of fire for fear of their being burnt, and of water for fear of their being drowned; and who knows of no means of preventing evil but by destroying it.

The laws of this nature are those which forbid to wear arms, disarming those only who are not disposed to commit the crime which the laws mean to prevent. Can it be supposed, that those who have the courage to violate the most sacred laws of humanity, and the most important of the code, will respect the less considerable and arbitrary injunctions, the violation of which is so easy, and of so little comparative importance? Does not the execution of this law deprive the subject of that personal liberty, so dear to mankind and to the wise legislator? and does it not subject the innocent to all the disagreeable circumstances that should only fall on the guilty? It certainly makes the situation of the assaulted worse, and of the assailants better, and rather encourages than prevents murder, as it requires less courage to attack unarmed than armed persons.” – Thomas Jefferson (via Beccaria’s Essay on Crimes and Punishments, c.1764)
The antis believe they can legislate the Heart of Man in the most despicable of characters.

I applaud those who regard the Constitution as supreme law. I do have a problem with people sworn to uphold the law and Constitution being placed in the position of needing to choose which when the two are conflicted. Perhaps we need a legal tribunal review of any proposed law prior to its congressional votes as a screening. If, on a simple reading of the law, unanimous approval of the Constitutionality of the proposed law is not given, it does not go onto a vote.

Roh-Dog

That is the function of the bicameral nature of direct representation in the House and Senate —one may argue that the hoi polli were never meant to directly elect Senators as a check on States’ Power — and the Judical, Ethics and Fudicary Committees of the Chambers.
The ‘interpretation’ (for lack of a better word) of the US Constitution and the creep of extra-Constitutional Departments, Bureaus, Commissions that are willed into existence by a Congress shirking their duties allows these corrupt, racketeering organizations to be beatified by continued inaction.
The task and purpose, therefor size, of our government needs to be brought back to a point where it represents the People, not the alien bureaucracy.

A Proud Infidel®™

Just MY personal opinion:

Gun Control Laws and the politicians that pass them do little more than aid, abet and embolden violent criminals by assuring them via legislation that Law-abiding people will be conveniently unarmed VICTIMS.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

I may be wrong, but I recollect a majority of these lawmakers are attorneys, but they fail to consider cases like DeShaney vs. Winnebago, Castle Rock vs. Gonzales and Warren vs. District of Columbia, which all substantiate that law enforcement has no legal duty or responsibility to protect.

USMCMSgt(Ret)

Thank you, ma’am.

rgr769

The rationale of those decisions is that LEO’s only have an obligation to protect the public in general, at large, and in the abstract, but have no legal duty to prevent criminal acts perpetrated upon a specific individual or organization. In some states it is known as “law enforcement immunity.” Basically, if you suffer harm or damages because of a crime and because LEO’s failed to act or acted negligently, you have no right to sue them for the harm caused by the criminal.

OldManchu

uh…. RACISM!

Yeah that’s it.

Thunderstixx

It never ceases to amaze me at how stupid libturds are. They actually think that disarming law abiding citizens will stop all the gun violence.
Victor Davis Hanson takes this one on.

26Limabeans

Was that a gunshot at 02:15?

11B-Mailclerk

The pale folks who demand disarmament have often gone to great lengths to isolate themselves from “those places” and “those people” who they perceive as the source of crime and from “Bad neighborhoods”.

Yes, their view is explicitly racist. Just don’t expect any admission from them. For entertainment, ask for an explanation of who lives in the “inner city” about which they care so much, and “bad neighborhoods” from which they distance themselves.

So? They believe themselves in a “good” neighborhood with “good” school and “mostly good” people, relatively free of “crime” (those people). Thus they fear “good” people “snapping” more than mugging. Weirdly, they seem to envision lots of folks on the verge of “snapping”, and thus seek to distance other folks from arms.

That obsession kinda gives one a peek inside their thinking.

They fear -you- thusly. Not the very real crooks they simultaneously avoid, yet guilty coddle, but -you- as their projection of edge-of-sanity “snap” outburst.

Their whole view requires obedient passivity, controlled by an elite. They know that requires an unnatural submission, thus some anger. They want to isolate the neighbors from the means to lash out, as they seek to isolate themselves from the “bad” people.

A very different bunch see the problem as “uppity” folks not “knowing their place”. They want you to know that you better stay in your designated role. None of this “independence” stuff. The bosses protect the loyal. Take what you get and do as you are told, by your betters.

Neither is healthy, or has anything to do with Liberty.

11B-Mailclerk

That does not stop them from acting as if they were. And they tend to become lynching-angry when not respected as such.

Mass immigration = left wing government = speech and gun control. Any questions? When your Republican friends repeatedly stabbed you in the back by supporting open borders for the last 40 years they made gun control inevitable. There’s nothing politically you can do about it now.

Docduracoat

Gun sanctuary cities are a great idea!
Using the leftist concept of immigration sanctuary city against the leftists shows how absurd it is to selectively follow only certain laws.
Ignore any reason they give for gun bans.
The only reason to disarm the citizens is so you can oppress them.
Criminals can be left armed since they are oppressed anyway.
