Well, she’s back at it and in the news over the past couple of days.
“When she was an Army nurse during the Vietnam War, DeSanti rappelled from helicopters to treat wounded soldiers.”
Once again, the media – in search of a feel-good story – will publish anything without verification. In this case, we had DeSanti’s fakery on This Ain’t Hell for anyone to look up.
At least she didn’t advance in rank over the last 5 years.

From the pictures on Military phonies it looks like she is rocking at least seven overseas service bars-three and a half years worth. Seems unlikely that the National Personnel Records Center wouldn’t be able to account for at least some of that service.
If you look at that rack of hers, it is a jumbled mess. The fact that she’s including a GCM (with no stars) says volumes about her complete ignorance of the military.
And her “awards” change places with whichever game she’s running this time.
point of trivia PH2, the army doesn’t use stars or oak leaves on the GCM they use a bar kind of device with knots. It’s very distinctive.
OK, then stars are a Navy thing.
USN, USMC, USCG use stars…Army uses knots on a bar, USAF uses oak leaves.

If Ole Margaret is “Retired” as she said she was, she should have no problem showing others her Retiree Military ID card along with a DD214.
She can also easily print out her DFAS Retirement Pay or show a copy if she receive her monthly copy in the mail.
She also should be able to show her Award Certificates along with Orders for her awards.
She should have pictures of herself in uniform from the 1960s to 2000.
There are folks out there that are still in denial about Ole Margaret’s lies. I’m still curious to hear stories from folks who claimed they served with her.
Also curious to hear the rest of the story how she lost her daughter and two brothers on 9-11.
Bet they just don’t want to have anything to do with her because of her habitual lying.
I’m sure that she’s NOT telling the truth about losing her Daughter and two Brothers on 9/11. One, a list exists of those lost that day and two, she’s a proven 24K Pathological Liar!

I have had the unfortunate experience of meeting Ms. Desanti based on a called received from a retired Col. In Long Island New York. This person told me to help her when she arrived in Arizona I was not surprised to receive a call tonight about such actions. She stayed at my home free rent I took her to MVD, local VFW, connected her with a realtor, helped her with picking up furniture and house maintenance. A family member of hers hit my friends truck Desanti was present at the accident and later denied she hit the truck. That was the last time I saw her. She is a character. She was arrested once and spent time in lock up. My mistake was I helped her for 2 reason elderly and a veteran. God knew I did her right. I hope this media shame will change her heart. God loves us all I hope she is connected to God to help her.
Air Force Veteran – I’ve been wondering if she has a criminal record. How many times has she been arrested? Has she ever been convicted of a crime or served time in jail or prison?

Who said anything about them keeping a copy of anything? What liability exists by simply looking at supporting documentation to verify eligibility??
Various places make me verify my identity prior to doing something like cashing a check or boarding a commercial aircraft. None of them KEEP my drivers license or even make a copy of it – they just look at it.

If that is indeed the case, the national organization has some serious ‘splanin to do.
I figured that’s exactly how they do these things. Everything is donated, so there’s actually a bit of an incentive for them to find bodies to fill the planes/buses.
This is exactly why seven years ago I stopped donating to any organization whose mission is to serve veterans. I focus my giving on hunger, homelessness, and education issues in my community. Way too many thieves, liars, and scammers in the “veteran” services arena to risk contributing to their cause.

Hack would like to just throw this out for consideration. If indeed she did retire, just tell us when, where, and under what command she retired from. A Lieutenant Colonel who was awarded a Silver Star retiring after 30 years would be a big deal, Hack is quite confident that the command would have a ceremony with a few photographs taken and a write up in the base newspaper. It would probably even merit an article in Army Times, as a female recipient of The Silver Star is such a rare event. Hell, there would probably be photos and a press release for receiving The Silver Star. Or maybe the Public Affairs Officer at every command she was at dropped the ball.

I have my own doubts that her claims of being a nurse have any validity at all, but that’s just me.
Several people have checked the New York database for registered nurses, and she does not appear in the registry.
The way she pinned on her “US” brass on her uniforms tells me she never served. I also love how she is sporting the WWII ribbon for WAC service from 1941 to 1945. Maybe she just threw darts at the Medals of America catalogue.
Also, she likely has the PTS of D from treating those severely wounded soldiers who died in her arms on the battlefield, so where’s her support mutt or support cat?
She needs the Battle of Hoth ribbon/commemorative medal set to round out her rack.

Was she an RN or LPN? There was a HUGE difference between those in the 1960s/1970s, although things have changed a LOT since then.

I believe cannot be an Army Nurse Corps officer unless you qualify by training as a registered nurse (RN). Anyway, that is what the requirement was back in her Vietnam times. According to one RN I know quite well, her commissioning requirement was a graduate degree (BS) in nursing from a college/university or completion of a three year nursing school course while participating in the Army program to commission Nurse Corps officers as 2LT’s.
A BS isn’t a graduate degree…minor point. Graduate degrees start above the Bachelor’s.
Correct me if I’m wrong IDC SARC, but my Sister is currently a practicing CRNA, she started out by achieving her RN Degree followed by her getting her BSN which she was in the top of her class in, thus getting her admission to CRNA School which she graduated. SO thus if Maggie DeSanti was truly a US Army Nurse then she OUGHT to be able to show a Diploma from a Nursing School which Maggie DeSanti HAS NOT done just like how Maggie DeSanti hasn’t shown any proof of Military Service so far.
NO Nursing School Diploma yet, thus I call TRIPLE BULLSHIT on Maggie DeSanti.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are the highest paid nursing specialty.
a CRNA is a Graduate degree Nurse (MSN). Most programs require not only a BSN to apply but also at least a year in critical care nursing such as ICU.
Some CRNA programs (few) now will accept an ADN/ASN nurse with critical care experience (and other pre-req’s)they will then “bridge” to MSN training by picking up courses they lack for the BSN and enter the 24 months of additional MSN training to complete CRNA school.
Nursing degrees can be very confusing. the lowest educational level is the certificate nurse (non-degreed..and genrally rare), then the ADN/ASN (majority of nurses), the BSN, the non-practitioner MSN, and even the non-practitioner PhD nurse. All nurses start being nurses when they complete their certificate, ASN/ADN or BSN programs and then pass a national board…the NCLEX. Only NCLEX graduates can legally call themselves RNs.
From there you have the non practitioner graduate/doctoral types that are administrators or researchers but not practitioners.
Then you have the practitioners at the MSN/PhD/DNP level which can be CRNAs, FNPs (family nurse practitioners)etc etc that all have their various specialties as advanced practice nurses(ANPs)they are mid level providers. The crux of their expertise lies at the MSN level..generally on par with Physician Assitants (PAs).
For example an FNP takes care of generally stable patients in a family practice setting … like a similar PA, but is not the same as a Family Practice Physician even if the nurse earns a PHD or DNP. A Mental Health Nurse Practitioner would be similar to a PA in the mental health setting…but neither is a Psychiatrist even at the PhD or DNP level. The nursing doctorates are pretty much used to set a nurse apart on a resume and don’t impart a wider scope of practice than they had at the MSN Practitioner level.
Though a nurse may practice “independently” in theory…most states require them to have a physician supervisor much like a PA.
I meant graduate with a BS in nursing.
Even us fans of China Beach know that one… betcha she don’t.
According to the National Archives site, 80% of the Army records destroyed were for personnel who were discharged between 1 Nov. 1912 to 1 Jan. 1960. If they existed, which we know they don’t, this cows records wouldn’t have been touched.

Question: weren’t the Army nurses sent to Fort Sam Hood down in Texas during the Vietnam war for specific training? If so, wouldn’t there be records of that?
Better yet, I would think there would be a master database listing of all Army nurses, at least by name and potentially by commissioning date. There is one for SEALs and I think there is one for Ranger School; you would think there would be one for Army nurses, who after all are fairly limited in number as compared to other Army MOS’s. Would the Army Nurses vet association know of and/or have access to such a database?
Well, yeah, there might be. Don’t know. There are records on just about everything.
You have conflated two different Army bases. Fort Hood is named after John Bell Hood, a Confederate general; it is located near Killeen, Texas. Fort Sam Houston is located adjacent to San Antonio, Texas. The Army Nurse Corps school was located there during the “Vietnam Times.” All newly commissioned 2LT nurses were sent there for the Army Nurse Basic Course, which I believe was five or six weeks. She would have been given a certificate for that upon graduation. And yes, there would be a personnel file document called a DA Form 66, which is the basic personnel record for all Army officers back in the day. It would show all her schools, civilian and military, all her qualifications and awards and all her duty assignments. NPRC takes screens shots of portions of that document when they do a FOIA response. Most of the information for the DD-214 is also taken from that form, as well. But since Moldy Maggie ever served, we will be getting another one of those “no records” letters.

The Maricopa County Association for Combat veterana (MACV) is the group who named a community college nursing scholarship after Margaret DeSanti. Just like the VFW, they didn’t verify her for admission.
Could you imagine the young student that is the recipient of this scholarship – only to find out that Maggie is a fraud?
The real question is: was she actually a nurse of any kind, e.g., LPN or RN? I have my own doubts about that part.

BTW, US Army Officers CAN have Good Conduct Medals. Some Officers got their Commission thru OCS (prior Service). Some West Point Officers who went to the Prep School at Fort Belvoir, VA before they went to West Point also have the Good Conduct Medal.
There also may be other US Army Officers who were Prior Service that got there Commission thru ROTC or Direct Commission.
So it IS possible for a US Army Office to have the Good Conduct Medal.

You bring up a good point regarding the possibility of her wearing her husband’s GCM… that being said, I remember being told that the wearing of GCMs by prior enlisted personnel who were later commissioned was strongly discouraged.
Oh, come on man. Some of us prior enlisted delight in wearing our Good Conduct Medal(s), along with Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon.
It’s one of the few ways we can recognize our own kind.

Served with an 0-3 that had been an E-6 in the Viet of the Nam. Got a butter bar battlefield Commission, had the GCM and the CIB. His 0-2 to 0-3 was also awarded on the field. He was getting caught up in the RIFF of ’73. That was the FIRST time I observed the WPPA got to bat for a good officer that didn’t have a ring to knock.
Wonder sometimes if the headknocking that Tommy and The Bear had going on was because Tommy didn’t have a ring to knock. I guess when you can ring bells with the big guns, you don’t need to knock a ring.

Ninja – Have you noticed that there was no press coverage of Margaret being hired as a firefighter? Years ago it was a rarity for a woman to enter this profession. If she had attended a two-year hospital two-year or four-year college directly after high school she would’ve 20 – 22 years old registered nurse. If she had put in 30 years of the Army she would have been at least 50. That’s above the age limit to be hired to fight fires.
I imagine old Maggoty here is fighting quite a bit of fires this week.

I do know a Spouse is still entitled to TRICARE, that is, if the Veteran was covered before they passed away.
There have been cases where DFAS discovered Spouses not reporting their Better Half’s demise. The Spouse was still collecting the Veteran’s Retirement or Disability check.

Friend – A HM1 is an E-6 Hospital Corpsman. FMF is the Fleet Marine Reserve. They are Navy medics who are assigned to the USMC.
Walker said in a email he’s a retired above…asked for proof before I donate. 🙂
FMF is a designator it does not stand for Fleet Marine Reserve. It means the HM1 …Hospital Corpsman first class (E-6) has qualified for and is authorized to wear the Fleet Marine Force qualification badge.
It replaced the FMF ribbon. I’m one of the old goats that qualified for both.
HM1(FMF)John Smith is how that written be written as an official title.

After 20 years of service squids go to the roles of the Fleet Reserve (hence the reason the Fleet Reserve Association or FRA exists) until 30 years have accumulated in total and are then transferred to the retired roles.

Then, there is the alternate reality Vietnam where POSers ran amuck – repelling out of helicopters, running hit and run missions behind enemy lines in Cambodia, and North Vietnamese prisons jammed to the gills with POWs. Let’s not forget those that were pulled out by their hair from 3/4 submerged cages and forced to play Russian Roulette. Much of this history is captured by sole-surviving members of their units when ambushed and a fierce fire fight ensued. A disproportionate number of them had their best friend die in their arms.
The Prisoner of Zenda is a much better story than that. So is Howard Pyle’s version of Robin Hood and His Merry Men. And then, there’s Treasure Island, Moll Flanders, and all those 19th century Regency romances by Georgette Heyer.

Yeah, Licensure involves a multi-step process and Background investigations …your name has to be correct and consistent all along the way. State Boards and the NCSB are very particular to prevent fraud.

Federal/DoD employment for Nurses (and doctors) requires that the medical professional holds a license in one of the 50 states. They do not need to hold a license in the state in which they are stationed, but they do need a valid license in good standing somewhere.

I suspect that Ol’ Maggie decided to impersonate a “retired” Army Nurse for fun and fame because it is double good. First, people generally have a favorable view of nursing as a profession. Second, the public now holds soldiers who served in combat in high regard. Plus, no one is going to be that impressed by an E-4 who was a ward orderly in some little known military hospital. She had the whole Florence Nightingale thing going for her as an a fake O-3 nurse. Then she decided to up her game with promotion to LTC and stories of daring do just like Jan Spann. She may have even read Jan’s bogus book. Then she went a bridge too far with the Silver Star. She may have dropped it because someone told her about the database of all SS recipients. The real unanswered question is whether she is delusional or knows she is a fraud. We’ll likely never get an answer to that question, unless one of her children spills the beans.

There were some females flying around II Corps in a Huey in Jan. or Feb. of 1971. They were fashion models from Chicago on some “morale building” junket. They came to LZ Center when I was assigned there as a battalion staff officer in 3/21st Infantry. But there was no rappelling involved. We staff-rats even ate lunch with them. I felt like I was in the twilight zone, as it was the first time I was in the presence of a female in quite a while. I asked their O-3 pilot if this wasn’t a little dangerous flying them out to firebases. His response: “Maybe for them, but not for me. Otherwise, I would likely be flying you booney-rats into a possibly hot LZ. Plus, I get to hang out with these gorgeous babes.”
