Some Gun News

| October 9, 2019

This court decision was handed down  in March of this year, making an officious bimp of a mayor look as silly as she was. She violated both state and federal (Constituional) laws, and was told so in plain English.

https://www.nraila.org/articles/20190322/illinois-court-throws-out-deerfield-gun-ban

The ridiculous mayor should have known better, but she set the test pattern for this kind of thing, just because she thought she could do whatever she wanted to, regardless of the law. Whether she will win the next vote is immaterial. She annoyed a very large group of taxpayers because she thought she could get away with it, and violated a Federal law: 2nd Amendment, as well as a state law regarding gun ownership.

I don’t  know when her term comes up for expiration, but she may just lose her job over violating these laws when elections come up.

This is one way to stop the gun grabbers like Birdbrain O’Rourke, who shouts ‘Hell, yeah, we’re gonna take your guns!’ into a public microphone. Whether he and people like him like it or not, the law at local, state and federal levels is on the side of freedom. And whether they like it or not, their noisy supporters are outnumbered by the rest of us.

I would like to repeat what I’ve said before: the right to bear arms does NOT mean that anyone is required to own a weapon of any kind. Period. It simply means you have the right to do so, if you so choose.

I haven’t done a recent check up on sanctuary counties and states, but that may very well become a “thing”.  It seems to be expanding.

She clearly didn’t think this one through (Which tends to be the case more often than not; case in point, Prohibition and the current War on Drugs.).

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Civilians should be able to own the same kind of arms that the Military troops are issued. Back in 1776, the colonist owned the same kind of rifles/muskets as the British troops were issued to keep it even Steven. I wondered how it would have sounded back in the day telling the Colonists that they shouldn’t be allowed to own a battle field “Assault” flint lock rifle/musket. B&B (biden and beto) would have been hung or shot back in the day if they said that.

And the third. British soldiers were

and the other deals with a mans wife.

Not just that, some people owned their own Artillery Pieces as well back in that day!

That pic is of what the PDRofMD considers an antique, and is free of many of the more onerous firearms restrictions. Like the mandatory 7 day wait on “restricted” firearms* with the State Police finding one “Not Unapproved” to claim one’s purchase at the dealer or other FFL.

Yes, they are that stupid.

*all “modern” cartridge using hand guns and any scary looking long arm, including some shotties.

Good stuff. This is probably causing their heads to spin. They don’t seem to realize that many of the American people just don’t want what they are selling. Great to hear that their scheme is beginning to fall apart (did it ever have a chance let alone even stand a chance?).

ArmyATC

Contrary to popular belief, there are many conservative folks in Illinois. They live mostly in central and to a greater extent southern Illinois. They are very pro-2nd Amendment. I saw this first hand when I attended a gunsmithing course at a tiny college in Southern Illinois. Most of the instructors were conservative and the president of the college asked us to build a custom AR-15 for him which we presented to him in his office. Real no-nonsense take no shit folks. They detest northern Illinois in general and Springfield in particular.

At least the Mayor is not as nutty as AOC, who wants to abolish prisons:

Saw the article on the Daily Wire about that. My God, talk about someone who will most certainly hang themselves if you give them enough rope.

The Turks have started air strikes on Kurdish positions. Kurdish allies, who were instrumental in dismantling the Caliphate, are dying at the hands of Turkish forces.

Those that continue to support Trump are complicit in this.

I would have posted this in a thread about the topic. However, “inexplicably”, the blog has ignored Trump ordering US forces withdrawal from Northern Syria and abandonment of our Kurdish allies. So there has not been discussion about it here.

Also, Turkey was supportive of ISIS allowing and facilitating Europeans who wished to join ISIS in their efforts to travel through Turkey into Syria.

More than 1000 of those ISIS fighters, that Turkey supported, are now going to be in Turkish custody.

Turkey open.y supported the Islamist Army of Conquest in Syria. Providing training, weapons, funding, and even safe haven.

They also refused to engage ISIS militarily taking a “neutral” position on ISIS while funneling money, and weapons, providing ISIS fighters safe haven, and training ISIS militants under the pretext of training Free Syrian Army and Army of Conquest. Turkey also frequently conducted air strikes and artillery strikes on Kurdish positions and Kurdish bases, sometimes in suspicious timing prior to ISIS counter attacks. Though a Turkish regime defenders claim ISIS was just exploiting the Turkish strikes on the Kurds without any prior coordination between Turkey and ISIS.

Turkey was an ALLY of ISIS.

the Kurds were ISIS most fierce enemies.

Trump has given Turkey the green light to kill Kurds,

Approved, even if off topic.

Commissar

No, I am not fine with Tiananmen 2 you addled relic.

Trump literally gave Xi the green light to do whatever the CCP wants to do to handle the protests, explicitly saying it is an internal Chinese matter.

So fuck you for claiming I am the one fine with Tiananmen 2. Your shitbag MAGAt is literally and explicitly fine with it. He even defended the last round of crackdowns saying Xi is acting responsibly because “the protestors have been protesting for a long time” and the protests “are bad for trade”.

You are so full of shit.

AW1Ed:

You did the right thing, even if Commissar hijacked Ex-PH2’s Post AGAIN.

Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that no matter what POTUS does, Commissar will be against it and will post his disagreements on TAH. As others have shared, if POTUS found a cure for cancer, Commissar may say something negative about that.

It seems as if POTUS lives Rent-Free in Commissar’s head. Just as Maxine Waters, Hillary Clinton, Adam Schiff, Al Green, Jerry Nadler, Nancy Pelopsi and so many others, Commissar just can’t let go and move forward. It is obvious that POTUS has become an obsession with Commissar. Perhaps his obsession is related to him being Bi-Polar which he freely admitted he suffers.

Commissar, I hope you find peace. Other viewpoints are always welcome here because being open minded is healthy. We all don’t have to agree on everything.

Commissar

No matter what POTUS does?

Why the duck aren’t you upset about abandoning the Kurds?

Oh, wait, you already gave your answer; “no matter what POTUS does” you will be fine with it.

Also, Why the hell is this blog ignoring this? You all bitched about every single damn thin Obama did. Even wearing a tan suit once.

Yet fucking crickets on Trump.

Bullshit. There is no way in hell this blog would have ignored the sudden US pullout from Syria and the abandonment of the Kurds, as well as turning over ISiS prisoners to ISIS allied Turkey if a dem had done it. There is no way in hell this blog should be ignoring it, no matter who made the decision. It is insane. There is no excuse for it. And this bullshit is why the blog has dropped to worse than the 350,000,0000th ranked website globally. It shows no consistent ideals or beliefs. It stands for nothing. All that criticality and defending your “principles” during the Obama era was clearly bullshit… It was never about principles it was about attacking the other party. The most cogent example was the quarterly updates this blog published on Obama travel expenses which reached $98m total after 8 years. When Trump exceeded that in his FIRST year this blog suddenly ok with presidential travel expenses. Trump has exceeded $100m on GOLF EXPENSES alone. Taxpayer money he transferred to his own pocket by going to his own resorts to gold and charging the government for the expenses of the entire presidential staff and security network traveling and lodging at his resorts. You all ranted about budget Obama deficits for years. Trump raises the deficit by 26%…oh deficits are fine now apparently. He raises AGAIN the next year by 68%…yep, perfectly ok. You all whined about Hillary’s corruption and taking money from foreign donors through here charities, I did too. However, foreign influencers cyclically booking dozens of rooms in Trump properties and paying for them while leaving them empty as a loophole to pay Trump millions of dollars? Apparently corruption is only bad when it is the other guys. What the hell do you all stand for at this point? Is this just supposed to be a safe space and virtue signaling circle jerk? This blog even lost it credibility on being a “Guardian of Valor” when you all made excuses and gave a pass to Trump claiming dodging STDs in the 80s was his Vietnam, accepted… Read more »

Commissar, you are as dumb as a stump. Just another Bobbing Head, sucking up whatever the Talking Heads offer for indoctrination. For those of us who are more “up” on things current military, this is a much more accurate description of the situation. There is a map associated, and if I find a way to get it here, I will add it. But for now, read this, slowly if necessary, and chew on it. “OK Folks, “Plickee” everybody is going nuts over the removal of about 100 US Troops from Prison Camp Guard duty in northeast Syria and to bring them and their support units home. Folks before you touch the Zippo to the gas soaked scalp, let us cut the BS from the Congressional Employees of the Military Industrial complex. You can’t tell the players without a scorecard, the map below shows the area occupied by the Kurds over the centuries. Now if you look at the Syrian/Turkey/Iraq border area, that southeast area of Turkey is now mostly flooded by the Ataturk Dam Project, you will see few roads, few towns. Few areas to stage a campaign against the Kurds in Iraq. Now there are four different Kurdish groups, we will work on two, the Peshmerga, our allies, over 60,000 strong well equipped, extremely well led, and superbly trained by the “Quiet Professionals” of the US Army Special Forces, and who President Trump will continue to supply and support, even with air cover, if necessary. They are allied with the Syrian Defense Force, and they will probably work together, surrendering Syrian land, if necessary, and moving East back to their homeland. The other group, mostly concentrated in eastern and southeastern Turkey are the PKK, a Marxist/ Maoist group who have been on the US and world Terrorist list since at least the mid 1980s, they have been the PROVOS, Bader-Meinhof, Japanese Red Army, Black September like group of Turkey blowing up civilians, murdering etc. They are not our friends and allies. Thanks for bringing this to us.

Oh and BTW, re the seagull? I pretty much ignore him. He don’t like it when you confuse him with facts. Trump is trying his damndest to get us the eff out of those sh^tholes. I wish him luck with that.

Commissar

This is fucking bullshit. An excuse being made after the fact the defend Trump.

The areas Turkey is attacking right now and planking to move into are S.D.F. held areas. They are NOT PKK areas.

S.D.F has been the backbone of our fight against ISIS and S.D.F has been allied with and assisted by US special operators.

Yes, a significant percentage of S.D.F are Y.P.G units as well as other militia elements that are supportive of the PKK.

But the S.D.F. has been an ally of ours during the fight against ISIS. Our most effective ally.

The fact that some S.D.F. elements are associated with and support the PKK is a bullshit excuse assholes are using to justify abandoning our allies AFTER the fact. We were fine with being allied with S.D.F./Y.P.G. units during the fight against ISIS.

The PKK is a political party. It is militant and anti-Turkish. But it has a lot of support among the Kurds in areas in and bordering Turkey.

Using the fact that Kurds living in and near the borders of Turkey are supportive of the PKK as an excuse to allow Turkey to attack them is bullshit.

They fought alongside the US against ISIS. Abandoning them is bullshit.

A book of matches can be quite the tool for “I aim to misbehave”. Also for ” cold and wet! Fire, save my ass!”

Flint and steel never run out of fuel, and work when wet. The modern versions are great.

A Zippo can still be used when out of gas. The “flint” (ferocerium) sparks reliably, and will easily light good tinder.

rgr769

For the benefit of those who are not into the old-timey pistolas, the photo is of a cased Colt Model 1860 Army percussion revolver. It is the civilian model or private purchase model, as it lacks the removable butt stock blocking screws on the frame. The green labeled round can in the upper right compartment contains percussion caps for the pistol. The case contains everything necessary to load and fire the weapon.

ninja

Ex commented:

“And if guns are so very, very bad, why does Hollywood keep making movies loaded with such weapons at all levels and glorifying the use of them?”

Because the majority of Hollywood are hypocrites. They follow the “Do As I Say, Not As I Do” rule. Look at all the Hollywood Hypocrites with Climate Change and the MeToo Movement as well as other morale issues.

Majority of them live in an Alternate Reality World. That is why they are called Actors and Actresses. They can’t handle the truth, so they live in their own little World, surrounded by their Bubble.

Fortunately, some DO have a good head on their shoulders. The rest are attention seekers who throw temper tantrums when they can’t get their way.

A Proud Infidel®™️

“Majority of them live in an Alternate Reality World.”
Yep, the ones who ride around in private jets, limousines and huge opulent Yachts, then stay somewhere in huge hotel suites to tell us to eat bean sprouts and ride the bus!

rgr769

Nope. Percussion caps are little copper cups a little over 1/8th inch in diameter which contain fulminate of mercury. They are pushed over steel nipples in the rear of the cylinder. When the hammer strikes a capped nipple, a small explosive flame is vented into the chamber, igniting the black powder charge, which propels the bullet or ball down the barrel.

In response to your last question, Hollywierd continues to portray gunfights because they are exciting to watch. Sort of the same reason they always show horses galloping all over the scene, as walking horses aren’t very exciting to watch. I think it is “all about the Benjamins,” unless they are trying to sell us some Progda propaganda.

11B-Mailclerk

The first ones were Mercury Fulmanate and Chlorate. Later ones were a chlorate type without the mercury. Current ones are Lead Styphanate, similar to cartridge primers. (And also mostly non-corrosive, unlike the originals)

The paper toy caps often use the old non-mercuric Chlorate mix.

AW1Ed

“Are those percussion caps like the rolls of caps for cap guns back in the 1950s?”

In a word, no. Although you would quite possibly shut down an entire airport if you had those in your luggage these days.
*grin*

The percussion cap performs the same job as the primer does in a modern pistol: The hammer or firing pin strikes it resulting in a tiny explosion which ignites the main powder charge.

Shoot and Reload.com

Fyrfighter

That being said, such a system was used, once upon a time..

AW1Ed

The exception that proves the rule- in this case the exception applied to a specific case established that a more general rule exists.
Also why in a large part why firearms are so damned interesting.
Thanks,Fyrfighter.

5th/77th FA

We had in our display items an original 1858 Springfield .577 caliber rifled musket that used the Maynard system. It would also take a standard winged percussion cap. That particular rifle was confiscated from the Federal Arsenal in Augusta when Georgia seceded and issued to a soldier in the Co E 3rd GA “Governours Guard”. It was carried and used thru most of the war in the 3rd and 7th GA Rgmt. The soldier who had it had been wounded and sent home on medical leave near the end of the war. He left it at home and carried a 10 bore double barrel shottie back with him since he had been reassigned to teamster duty. The rifle was still in good firing condition, for blanks and live rounds. There was one very ragged roll of the Maynard Caps still with it that we never used. Unfortunately, a few months after we returned it to the owner, her home was broken into and the rifle stolen. I’m sure it is in someone’s very private collection since it never showed up in the pawn shops data basis.

From the what it’s worth dprt, that matched set of toy “cowboy six shooters” with the holsters in even fair condition would prolly be worth more than that rifle. 1950s toys are highly collectable these days.

Graybeard

One of our church members’ father and family manufactured those things.
He has some interesting collection, I understand.

rgr769

Except the role primer was meta foil. The tape primer system was abandoned within a year or so because of its unreliability. It was replaced by indivisible winged percussion caps.

11B-Mailclerk

Weirdly, there was a tool sold that could turn beer-can aluminum and capgun paper caps into useable percussion caps for cap-n-ball guns.

Fyrfighter

Now that’s cool! yeah, the tape system didn’t last long, for the obvious reasons, but as Ed pointed out, firearms history is just so damn interesting! With all the different routes designers took to get to basically the same end point, it’s just a testament to human ingenuity.

Of course, that’s because the idiot progs who run Cali blamed the electric company over recent wildfires and sued them for damages so now they are now striving for absolute safety. Left out of that is the fact that green morons that are part of the idiot prog alliance have made it impossible to cut trees so that limbs don’t hit power lines and cause wildfires, but since they really, really meant well I guess that makes it OK.
