Too Crude, or Not Too Crude

I am really tired of the pencilnecks trying to run the show.

A Marine One-star is under scrutiny for having a rough vocabulary?  https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-corps/2019/07/31/marines-reprimand-1-star-alleged-to-have-bullied-subordinates-and-devalued-women/

Granted, it’s from this past summer, but I’m always interested in what, if anything, goes on in the closed-off minds of SJWs and their ilk.  They are always easily offended and quick to point out everyone else’s fault, but get their undies in a bunch if someone reciprocates.

Having read both of these articles, I’m mystified about something: Marines are rather famous for their somewhat abrasive approach to a lot of things, including how they address other people. It looms large in their legend. In the 1960s, I ran across a couple of Marines whose vocabulary could melt the steel bumpers off a pickup truck, but they were perfectly nice people otherwise. One of them even held a door open for me when my arms were full of junk from the supply locker.

Of course, some personal self-expression may be inappropriate behavior if used too loosely, which may be this Brigadier’s problem: he apparently can’t keep his Big Fat Mouth shut, and seems to have a warped sense of humor. And he’s probably surrounded by SJW wimmins, who take offense at just about everything these days when someone should have the backbone to tell them to quit their bitching, shut up and get to work. But that’s just my take on it.

However, in this era of SJWs & pencilnecked intimidation, telling someone ‘Get your sorry ass back to work’ is considered socially unacceptable by the target, who wants to spend his days slacking off as much as possible but still getting a paycheck for it.

Likewise, there are always people looking to get ahead who will stomp on anyone to do so, even if later they were found to be engaging in quackery. That is a common attitude: “I don’t like EllTee So-&-So because he/she/it made me do some actual work.”

So – you have two sides of the same coin here. One side has the Marines on it, and the other side has the people who want to find fault with everyone else.

I am really tired of pencilnecks running the show.

Political Correctness is ruining the military and the country. There is no way that a training instructor, DI, DS, etc. could talk to today’s kids, like my trainers, from Basic, through AIT and Jump School, I was trained by “rough talking” NCOs.

  2. Toxic Deplorable Racist B Woodman says:

Tsk. I hope this BG is exonerated, we need more “rough talking” leaders in the military, all branches.

I’ve had two colonels that were fired. Both would have gotten along fine about 20 years ago.

I agree that the PC culture is BS and that what the military needs are people who don’t fit into “polite society” when at work. They also shouldn’t be brought down by snowflakes that are “offended” (now one of the most meaningless words in the language along with “RACIST!!”).

There is something to say, however, for being savvy enough to guard your tongue knowing what the climate is. Getting drunk on cheap vodka in your Russian village and going off about how crappy The Party is during the Soviet era wouldn’t have been smart. Talking about homosexuals in a derogatory manner in the Obama era was also not a smart thing to do. You do have to know your enemy. Sadly, I had to be very careful about who I talked to about certain subjects during my time in (95-19). That didn’t make me cowardly, just aware of the political climate. I would expect smart senior officers to know what is the kind of thing that can get them canned. Not saying they shouldn’t speak their mind about important matters, just that they should know that, “Hey Lt, that shirt makes you look like a faggot” is not a wise thing to say in 2014.

“Hey Lt, that shirt makes you look like a faggot.”

Senior officers should always watch their six by adding this qualifying remark: “Not there’s anything wrong with that.” LOL

        • Ex-PH2 says:

What – my Roy Rogers shirt with the bolo tie with the silver dangles at the end doesn’t look MANNISH enough fer ye, CCR?

And I had such a crush on Roy until Dale Evans said she wanted to have him stuffed and put on exhibit, because he did that to Trigger. I never did find out what happened to Bullet.

I recall having a complaint lodged against me for saying “OK, boys and girls, back to work”. What saved me was that I also said ‘boys’… but I was advised to skip that phrase in the future.

Wasn’t it Harry Truman who compared politics adversely to playing piano in a whorehouse?

  4. The early 1900 era Marines are turning over in their graves right now.

Agree. I’m tired of another Pencilneck: Adam Schiff.

    🤔😤

    People call me crude.

    F**K PEOPLE.

    I’m direct.

  7. 5th/77th FA says:

Did not know that there were so many snowflaked, sissy punks in the Military these days. I try my best to watch my language, especially around Women & Children, however I do realize that sometimes it takes a profane word or two to get the message across.

Good luck gen’rul, seems like you gonna need it.

  9. Frankie Cee says:

A crusty assed Master Sergeant jump school instructor, with 3 combat jumps from WW-II, worked me over, verbally, by asking: “Would you screw my wife?” That is a question, when asked of a PFC, that has no right answer. Any cadre asking it today would be out, on his ass.

  10. SFC D says:

My pa (LtCol D) was a master in the effective use of profanity. I don’t believe I ever once heard him use the words “outstanding”, “incredible”, “fantastic”,or “absolutely” without the appropriate profanity inserted as extra syllables. Used appropriately, profanity is like an enhanced exclamation mark.

  11. Graybeard says:

Personally, I don’t like to use profanity. (When significantly frustrated, I have been known to exhibit a knowledge of the terminology, but I don’t like to.)

That said, anything short of blasphemy is water off a duck’s back, as far as I’m concerned.

    • Ex-PH2 says:

Profanity is a mere morsel of speech in many cases. I have known people who could reduce someone, some tough guy, nearly to tears simply by the use of an extended vocabulary of words that had the same meaning as profanity, but were far more elegant when delivered just so.

It’s a skill to be envied.

  12. Mustang Major says:

Profanity is overrated as a motivator.

  13. Dennis - not chevy says:

When I was on instructor duty, a troop was giving me a ration of (it wasn’t) shinola that I was in no mood for. I got in his face and said, “Airman, if you have something to say to me, grow a set and say it!” I’m glad that was about 30 years ago.

  14. NHSparky says:

Meh. Cursing is the crutch of the inarticulate motherfucker.

  15. Honor and Courage says:

The libbs, and the PC crowd will not be happy until the see Female POW Brothels’, and female Soldiers bodies piled up on a beach like Normandy! Then they will be screaming, at the Leadership! Either way you can’t win an argument with them. Can you imagine living in the Jungle with no personnel hygiene, leeches rats and wearing the same Uniform for months! Yep! 4 female soldier in every squad and at least 2 in every fox hole!

  16. RetiredDevilDoc8404 says:

Sweet Jumped Up Jesus, when I was in Basic at Lost In The Woods in the state of Misery you could tell how much the Drills liked you by how colorful the names they called your mother were… Anyone remember the BS Gen. Mattis got over saying it was fun to brawl and shoot the rag heads in A-stan and Iraq? People had an absolute conniption, that was tame for him; get him out around his Marines and you’d see the PC Police and SJW’s heads explode. We are witnessing the emasculation of the Marines if this PC crap is allowed to stand.

  17. OWB says:

Here’s an overly simplistic solution to the problem: If you don’t want to hear rough language, don’t go places where rough language is likely to be heard. Don’t want folks pointing and laughing at you? Then don’t go places you know are likely to produce language you don’t want to hear demanding that everyone but you change their behavior.

  18. Green Thumb says:

Back in the day if you did not swear every other word, nobody paid you any attention.
