Uber driver accused of killing passenger takes stand, gets emotional during court testimony

Author: Janet Oravetz, Dacia Johnson
DENVER — Closing arguments are expected to begin Tuesday afternoon in the case involving an Uber driver who’s accused of fatally shooting his passenger on Interstate 25 last year, according to an update from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

Michael Hancock’s trial began last week. He’s accused of shooting and killing 45-year-old Hyun Kim on I-25 near the University Boulevard exit in June 2018.
Hancock took the stand to testify Monday morning to tell a jury his story of what led to the shooting death of Kim. Hancock, who pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the case last November, said Kim attacked him during the in-app ride last year.

While on the witness stand, photos of the victim in his car were shown. Hancock looked away from the photo and became choked up. He also cried on the stand when the 911 call from the night of the shooting was played.

Several members of Kim’s family, who were also in the courtroom, cried as the photos were shown.

When Hancock was asked if he was in fear for his life when he saw Kim reach for something, he said, “100 percent.”

A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government. — George Washington

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”
A great quote, (One that I live), but not attributable to ol’ George.

Denver; Being drunk and horny, Mr. Kim, doesn’t mean your Uber driver is drunk and horny. Contrary to what Hollyweird wants us to think, the majority of men prefer girls to flirt with them. No more Cream of Sum Yung Guy Soup for you.

Lumber City; A sleepy little wide place in the road small town that shows hood rats are every where. On the Golden Isles Hwy to Jekyll and St Simons Islands. For the railroad buffs here, the bridge crossing the Ocmulgee River is a trestle with the turnstile in the middle. Steamboat and barge traffic was heavy thru there way back yonder. They prolly called in the GBI cause Lumber City don’t have but about 3 popo total.

The Missouri State Motto of “Show Me” means the popo wants to see what you are holding. BB is lucky that neither the popo nor the armed citizen shot his dumbass self.

Quiet weekend in Chitcongo, only 3 DOT and 11 WRT. Hood rats take some time off?

Had some of the in country troops way back yonder tell us that Czech weapons were built as well as anybody elses and would kill you just as dead.

More of our current crop of congress critters need to pay heed to George’s words. But then again to them, George was an old, white, slave owning dude, in rebellion against the benevolent King, and traded correspondence with Tom Jefferson on the cultivation of hemp. He coulda been a King himself, but decided to give that piece of paper a chance to build a freedom loving nation.

Well yeah, no one would post something that wasn’t 100% Legit. Not even a disbarred lawer, or a Chippendale SEAL wannabe. But those naysayers at the George Washington Heritage Association keep claiming that they cannot find any reference to old “wooden teeth” saying that.

He fled to his GF in Mexico and she

Handling an all-steel 75 after handling a crop of striker-fired plastic guns is like picking up a chunk of bank vault after Tupperware. No comparison.

Buddy of mine has a VZ58, the Czech equivalent to an AK, and has nothing but good to say about it. I’ve had a couple of different CZs and they have been uniformly stellar.

In re: that first item, the Uber driver was attacked by his passenger, who defended himself (and is visibly upset at having to do so), but it’s all his fault….

Okay, the family wants something out of this. Taxi drivers get held up routinely, or at least, they used to be held up regularly, and no one complained if they kicked someone for it. Does it not count if they are cab drivers instead of Ubers?

Mug shot gold. I’m going to take a wild guess that Bernie Bailey, the guy who slugged the Pulaski County deputy, might have had an accident and fell down some stairs a couple of times on the way to the slammer…
