Man shot and killed while searching for intruder in his rural Columbia County basement

DAILY REGISTER STAFF
LEEDS — State and local authorities are investigating a suspicious death after a rural Columbia County man was found dead in his basement while reportedly looking for a possible intruder on Friday night.

Police: Redding man confronted by armed citizen at gas station after kidnapping woman

By Alayna Shulman
A Redding man beat a woman he knows and kidnapped her sister before being confronted by an armed citizen who noticed the victim was “in distress” at a nearby gas station, officers said.

Police said it all started shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, when people began reporting that a man was fighting with two women on the lawn of a home on the 2000 block of Westwood Avenue.

Sgt. Todd Cogle said the suspect, 44-year-old Carl Dudley Hulsey, was gone by the time officers got to the scene, and one of the women he’d attacked told them he’d also assaulted her sister and driven off with her.

While searching the area, officers got a tip that Hulsey and the woman had been spotted at the nearby Win-River Mini-Mart and gas station, Cogle said.

As officers headed to the gas station, calls started coming in reporting a man there pointing a gun at another man, police said. Cogle said it turned out a citizen with a concealed-carry permit pulled his gun on Hulsey because he could tell the woman was there against her will, so Hulsey ran away through some fields.

Redding Police Sgt. Brian Torum said citizens don’t necessarily intervene with crimes that often, but in this case, it was clear that the woman needed help.

Suspected burglar shot by Munford homeowner

by Eryn Taylor
The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office said a homeowner noticed that his surveillance cameras outside his home were being moved so he got his gun and went to see what was going on. When he went outside he found a man in his yard who then lunged at him.

That’s when the homeowner reportedly shot him.

The Leeds story is a suspicious death. Wonder how much the wife knows about the “rest of the story”?

Armed citizen stops a dirtbag. Who’d a thunk?

“…found a man in his yard….homeowner reportedly shot him.”

Our very own VOV needs to give the congress critters lessons from the George Mason book.

Is Para as a double stack 1911 still being made?

Almost all concealed carry .45 models have single stack mags because double stacks make the grip too thick for good concealment under clothing.

Not as the Carry, it is a single stack. Pretty much limited to big boy sizes in double stack .45s. Oodles of 9m and some .380 double stacks about the size of the Para shown. Besra even makes a 14+1 version of the Thunder only .1″ wider than the original.
