Prosecutors: Sub officer with a drug dealing side hustle busted!

| September 19, 2019

A lieutenant stationed aboard the guided-missile submarine USS Michigan is facing a court-martial trial over allegations that he distributed illegal drugs. (Mass Communication Specialist Seaman William Carlisle/Navy)

What was this idiot thinking? All that expensive training wasted for supplementary tax free income and no doubt samples of his products. I’ve been to Seattle and it would take weapons grade stupidity to get busted selling drugs there; they’re everywhere. I’ll bet someone dropped a dime on his ass.

By: Geoff Ziezulewicz

When he wasn’t serving as a submarine officer, a Navy lieutenant dealt drugs in Seattle, military prosecutors say.

Assigned to the guided-missile submarine Michigan’s Blue Crew, Lt. James W. Hendren, 27, has been charged with distributing cocaine in November and extasy in July at unnamed locations in the Emerald City, according to charge sheets provided to Navy Times.

Near the submarine’s homeport of Bremerton in January, Hendren allegedly began trying to cover up his illicit moonlighting by deleting web searches for “how to pass a hair follicle test” and “how to delete icloud storage,” moves prosecutors believe were designed “to impede and obstruct the due administration of justice.”

Authorities suspect Hendren also tried to influence the potential statements and testimony of an unnamed person, allegedly saying “we can come out of this okay” if the two had a consistent story against a third person whose name is also redacted in the records provided to Navy Times.

Dumbazz teh stoopid mofo. Now you know why they call it dope. I’m wid ‘Ed here… Fierce competition in that area for dope peddlers, so the profit margins have got to be slim. Dippy here is an 0-3 making north of 4K a month (?), plus bennies (?)…dahell you thinking boy?

DD, forfeiture P&A, hard time in KS, or does Navy have a special brig for this level of dumbassery.

He’s an Officer so he’ll be looking at getting a Dismissal, the Officer version of a DD.

Somehow I made it through 24 years in the Marine Corps (20 active duty as an officer) without getting arrested, relieved or otherwise disciplined. How, you ask? By not doing bad shit! I found it actually quite easy. Something’s illegal? I didn’t do it! I was gone for weeks or months at a time on TAD (TDY) or deployment and cheating on the wife was never a problem! How? By not considering it to be something I would ever do!! It just wasn’t that hard!

The one thing that I was actually concerned about getting me in trouble was my mouth and its propensity to make noise that sounded a lot like my political opinions. One of my last gigs was being the HQ Company Commander at a HQ Battalion. We had a tranny in the Battalion (thankfully not in my company). My tendency to say things like “that woman is not actually a man” is the kind of thing I risked my career over in the latter stages of my time in.

Rules to avoid this crap, overheard from a wise USAF senior NCO…

If deleting your browser and search history is obstruction of justice, we’ve got a lot of criminals out there.

Hack Stone

If deleting your browser and search history is obstruction of justice is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.

Ex-PH2

Aren’t you supposed to clear your browser on a regular basis, anyway? I do. All that crap piles up and serves no purpose at all.

FC2(SW) Ron

My crimes: I delete my browser history and cookies. I rip the fucking mattress tag off in spite of the penalty! Sometimes while driving, I’ll see one of those “Your Speed Is” signs and hit the gas just to see how high I can make it go before I pass! Thug Life on the edge!!!

But the 27 year old LT? What a fucking idiot! How did this not come up in a clearance screening?

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

Times have changed. During my 3 years active duty, Beer and booze were the thing onboard/ashore and when the ship went to SE Asia, mary jane came aboard with the Marines after operations from what I’ve heard from former shipmates.

Hack Stone

Give the guy some credit, he may have been hard up for cash, but at least he did not strong-arm the crew into buying an Amway franchise.

LOL

When I was a 21 year old Lance Corporal, I got hit up by a Navy LT about “enhancing my future” by becoming a part of his MLM scheme. We had several formal meetings about it, and I was starting to actually think he thought well of me to partner wiht him and began to get over my “WTF is a officer talking to me like this for”. But, then I realized this was totally skeezy and he simply needed bodies-my first introduction to MLM scams.

Hack Stone

If you have never seen this move, check it out. It is similar to Pulp Fiction, they keep telling the same story from different perspectives.

He fucketh himself.

DOH !!!!!
Sux to be him….
One guy I knew in Alaska was the Soldier of the Year for 1975 and got busted for pot sale in 1976 and ended up in Ft Leavenworth.
The bust was a set up from one guy that was busted for simple possession and set Charlie up to get out of any charges against him…
What an ass.

Retarded.

A Proud Infidel®™️

Maybe he should have followed the advice of a KISS Safety Briefing, something like:
Don’t mess with or deal drugs.
Don’t add to the population.
Don’t subtract from the population.
Don’t end up in jail but if you DO, establish dominance quickly.

Now that dumbass is stuck having to follow up on the last bit.

Slightly OT: Adjacent to the Navy Times story about the sub sailor behaving badly, there was a link to another interesting story about progress on efforts to save the U.S.S. Texas. Apparently the Texas legislature has come up with enough money to overhaul the aging battleship, but it looks like being able to keep it maintained is going to depend on moving it to Galveston, and away from its current location near the San Jacinto Monument:

think the Houston Ship Channel is brackish mixed salt and fresh water; Galveston offers pure salt water. Wonder whether that will accelerate future problems?

Crusty Old TV Tech

Yes, true story. They’re refloating the Texas from its mudpit in Pasa(git down!)dena to take it to Mobile, AL for repairs. Then, back to Galveston. They’re thinking they’ll get more visitors (and therefore more bux) at Galveston. They’re right. The San Jac battlefield park is a bit off the beaten path, with only the San Jac monument and battlefield as draws. Galveston on the other hand has the Elissa, etc., and decent tourist infrastructure. Also, Seawolf Park nearby with the USS Stewart and the USS Cavalla.

Ship Channel is brackish mixed with sludge from 100+ years of bilge pumping, petro industry waste, storm sewer runoff, etc. Probably worse than fresh-ish seawater at the Port of Galveston on a hull, not to mention being partially sunk in the mud at San Jacinto.

1) Don’t do bad shit. 2) Don’t do “social media”. See 1 and 2.

Plus, 3) Don’t put bad shit on “social media”.

According to his LinkedIn page he is now a transitioning submarine officer at US Navy.
“Experienced Lieutenant with a demonstrated history of critical decision making, leadership, risk mitigation, multi-disciplined team development, and quality assurance. Bachelor of Science (BS) focused in Engineering Physics from Tulane University.”

This could get more entertaining.

And a future felony conviction for drug dealing. Truth in advertising.

Hack Stone

Did he mention that he was a regional distributor for an independent pharmaceutical franchise?

Does anyone care to wonder why this didn’t get picked up by ANY credible news source, aka not Navy Times? It’s rather simple. The Navy Times is pure garbage and this article is proof.
You are all so quick to judge someone based on a poorly backed article. The only thing presented as “evidence” here is an internet browser history and a Navy prosecutors word…far from what should be needed to ruin an innocent officer’s life but I guess that the UCMJ for you.

Concerned Citizen

Ok, but the keyword is credible news source…smh

SFC D

Define “credible”.

Don’t shake your head so hard. Something might be loose.

Google is your friend, dumbass.
