Climate Change “Fighting” Former President Looking at New Beach Front Property

| August 24, 2019

Former President, Barack Obama, and his wife are reported to be in the process of purchasing a beachfront property. This is a photo looking at the property from the beach. (realtor.com)

As President, Mr. Obama took action to “fight climate change.” He dedicated a section of the White House webpage to issues related to “addressing climate change”. He engaged in initiatives that he felt would help fight “manmade” global warming.

However, there are reports that the former president is either in the process of purchasing a beachfront property… Or has already purchased one.

One of the arguments that the global warming crowd makes involves rising sea levels. They point to what could happen to the people living near the ocean. Barack Obama’s purchasing this property leads to another ongoing reality… Banks offering finance options for beachfront property, or property close to the beach.

The free market doesn’t seem to think that this is going to be an issue in the near or long-term future. Many of the people harping the need to “fight climate change” aren’t exactly worried about it when it comes to their own choices.

You could read more about the purchase, or potential purchase, on realtor.

Gonna be expensive for us taxpayers to secure.

Daisy Cutter

Where is it? MA, HI, IL?

Andy11M

Edgartown according to the linked article.

AW1Ed

Edgartown is a town located on Martha’s Vineyard in Dukes County, Massachusetts, United States.

Andy11M

Don’t worry, I’m sure he bought some carbon offset credits so it’s ok. Are those even still a thing?

HMCS(FMF) ret

Just ask Al Gore and Jay Inslee…

26Limabeans

Howie Carr sells carbon credits.
You can trust him. He’s not like the other guys.

http://www.franklinsites.com/carboncredit/

Hack Stone

You just inspired Hack Stone to start a whole new industry, Valor Credits. You can offset your stolen valor by bringing “awareness” to certain social issues, such as POW’s, homeless veterans, or barbecue sauce.

HMCS(FMF) ret

So, Hack… if I was a Stolen Valor vulture and I held a Chili feed, ow many Stolen Valor credits would that get me?

Asking for a “friend”…

Hack Stone

Enough to purchase a leather vest with Master Sergeant rank insignia and a Combat Infantry Badge.

Hack Stone

Of course, you could wear some unauthorized military flair to raise awareness of stolen valor, but that would initiate a continuous loop causing the universe to collapse into a black hole.

rgr769

So, one could buy stolen valor credits to steal more valor by wearing more fake bling, then buy more stolen valor credits to be used to steal more valor to bring about more awareness of stolen valor. That would be like the proverbial self-licking ice cream cone.

3/10/MED/b

If I come in uniform, do I get the chili, AND the bbq sauce, AND the stolen valor credits?

(Does the vest come with that? After all, I was in uniform…)

Sarc/ aside, everybody be safe out there.

GDContractor

GDContractor wonders what idiot had Hack Stone fixing radios…when he is obviously a Flag Grade Fucking Genius!

Hack Stone

Blame some guy at HQMC and decided this guy needed to spend some quality time in 29 Palms picking up hand grenade pins out at Camp Wilson. If you spent time at Camp Wilson in the 1980’s, you spent some time in the comfortable A-Frame shelters erected by Hack Stone and some of his MCCES cohorts.

USMCMSgt (Ret)

I participated in several CAXs in those wood framed corrugated metal A-frames.

Good times.

Ok let us see here. Been out of work for over two years, only source of income is a gubmint pension. Wonder what the payments on a 14 mil crib would be? Debt to income ratio? That many bedrooms needed for 2 empty nesters? What’s the down payment, usually 20% on a financed note. I guess if one saved the entire paycheck they got from 8 years of employment, they might have enough for a down payment. Are we gonna be on the hook for the flood insurance payments too?

Hypocritical bull sh^t. Typical politicians.

David

Are you kidding? Multizillion dollar book deals are just part of the retirement package, along with six figure hourly speaking rates AS LONG AS YOU SPOUT THE PARTY LINE. See: Clintons, Bill and Hillary.

Mason

They also have a multi-million dollar deal going with Netflix. They are not hurting for money. Unlike the Bidens and Clintons, they haven’t yet had to go overseas to rake it in.

rgr769

Bet there will be some Soros money funding this real estate deal. Billionaire progs love them some 0bama. And 14 million is chump change for them.

5th/77th FA

I have really got to fix my /sarc/ light.

Outcast

Well crap, got another wall needing to be built, just so they build it high enough so the inmates don’t escape when the water rises. Oh no life preserves or boats allowed inside this new Pelosi type compound.

Ret_25X

I have said since the beginning of this new religion that one can see it is a scam by tracking new building along the coastlines of the world.

If the bankers and insurers are willing to give billions in loans and insurance on condo construction in Miami and island nations, then you can be sure there is no threat of imminent apocolyptic demise.

The entire argument that repeated ice ages and warm ages were natural but now it is the fault of stupid peasants using energy is so elitist only a college graduate could believe it.

UpNorth

Algore bought ocean-front property, as did the Obama’s. I wonder, does that mean that the climate change hoax is finally and totally dead?

Ex-PH2

No, the hoax is not dead just yet, but it IS wilting around the edges.

IDC SARC

Obama quotes:

“There’s only so much you can eat. There’s only so big a house you can have. There’s only so many nice trips you can take. I mean, it’s enough.”

“I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.”

Soooooo…I guess he thinks he’s setting an example and living modestly…or something

Just Lurkin

Well, I mean, he was talking about “you” in all those quotes. That’s telling, given how often his favorite topic was “I” or “me”.

Giving instruction to commoners is an important aspect of being a good aristocrat.

HMCS(FMF) ret

He was the preezy! And you didn’t build that! He was the “light worker” that was going to calm the seas and heal the country.

And he said all this stuff reading off a teleprompter… and couldn’t answer a question off the cuff to save his life.

Mason

He’s such a man of the people. I bet this mansion will have an entire room dedicated to his mom jeans, a basketball court, and a smoking room. Remember he smokes like a chimney, but the media were too polite to document it.

Fyrfighter

You’re not talking Marlboros are you?

Hack Stone

Probably Virginia Slims. Do they even make them anymore?

26Limabeans

Martha’s Vineyard has always been populated by
“elite” liberal blacks. The “elite” liberal
white Democrats showed up after WW2 and tried to
purchase as much property as possible in order
to control the politics.
Obama is a natural for the place.
Lois lerner has relocated there.
The Kennedy’s tried to make it their personal
island off shore from the Hyannis Compound.

The local Indian Tribe has become a craft shop
just like the liberals want it. Can’t have those
injuns getting upitty and running for office.

Spent many a summer there as a kid.

In regard to “climate change” and “rising seas”, New Zealand has a specific immigrant policy offering space and accommodations and help to 75 people from Kiribati, which is supposed to be threatened by rising seas. They’re having trouble filling that quota.

Anyone want to claim citizenship in Kiribati and move to NZ? It’s got beautiful mountains and a couple of volcanoes, and lots of sheep, if you like mutton.

Club Manager, USA ret.

Their white Sauvignon Blanc ain’t too shabby either.

Ex-PH2

They also have a large beef production going on.

26Limabeans

Obama’s shore is actually a pond, not the sea.
His comments about rising sea levels do not apply.
See how easy that works?

LET

I will bet that the new property will be financed by George Soros at a big discount

26Limabeans

Back in the 50’s Marthas Vineyard had a small
airstrip but most people took the ferry.
The Island Queen out of Woods Hole was very busy.

Today, only the riff raff and tourists take the ferry. The airport is very busy with all the
private jets from all over the world.
If you look at the Flightradar24 site you can
see all the Gulfstreams and Citations coming
from Europe, Hollywood etc.

https://www.flightradar24.com/41.33,-70.54/10

Some of the traffic will show “blocked” on the
flight details. Those would be your celebs.
Interesting site to watch.

Mason

I love watching flightradar when bored. Especially cool to see some long range flight from Europe to LA going overhead.

There are a ton of private aircraft coming and going from out there. Just saw a Eurocopter heading out to the islands. Looked up the registration. Owned by a Link Snacks Inc out of Hayward, WI (which is a small city). It’s Jack Links of beef jerky fame. Apparently the CEO or someone else high up is important enough to rate a freaking helicopter to fly out there. No wonder the jerky is so pricey. Glad I get mine at the local meat markets.

rgr769

Martha’s Vineyard airport was where JFK, Jr. was flying when he offed himself and his passengers when he couldn’t be bothered to learn how to operate the three axis autopilot and the flight director in his airplane.

26Limabeans

Being high on cocaine didn’t help either.

rgr769

I didn’t know he was on the nose powder. But if so, that certainly would impair his judgment. I never have been able to understand why he decided to fly that late in the day after cancelling his flight instructor. IIRC he took off about EENT (that is ending evening
nautical twilight). By the time he headed out over the water, it was very dark and with the light mist he could not see the horizon at all. He was clearly in instrument conditions and he was not instrument rated.

Mason

“I was so high, I didn’t know which way was up!”

Too soon?

rgr769

When the pilot doesn’t know which way is up is step one in the graveyard spiral. Which is apparently how Jr’s Piper Saratoga ended up in Davy Jones’ Locker.

Hack Stone

Not his fault, the flight manual did not explicitly state not to pilot the aircraft with your leg in a cast. Still trying to figure out the justification of spending all of that taxpayer money to recover his body, then they buried him at sea.

rgr769

It was a typical Deep State move. No expense at taxpayer cost will be spared for the benefit of the political elites.

26Limabeans

I inherited a burial plot in Oak Bluffs
as did my siblings. Because it is real
property I retain rights in the town.
Such as priority for eldely housing
should I move there. Fat chance of that!

The plot will become part of my estate
when I pass as I will be going to nearby
Bourne National next to OTIS AFB.
The plot will be sold to some liberal for many dollars. There is waiting list.
Oak Bluffs is not exactly burial at sea but pretty close.
They could have saved money on the Kennedy
burial if they had just contacted me.

Why doesn’t obama who is in the 1 % of wealth take some of that 14 million and distribute it to us not in the 1 %, after all they believe in the distribution of wealth or does that only apply if you are not a demorat???

A Proud Infidel®™️

If the ice caps are melting and raising ocean levels then why the fuck are limousine and Lear Jet liberals still flocking to buy Oceanfront property, especially the pols preaching the eco-doomsday shit?

Ex-PH2

Ummm…. because they are lying, self-serving sacks of bull crap?

Stacy0311

All y’all are clearly forgetting that on 20 January 2009, the rise of the oceans stopped thanks to the Lightbringer, and his Unbearable Lightness of Something or other (mainly his lightness of intellect and honesty, but whatever)

11B-Mailclerk

Unabashed lightness in loafers?

Ex-PH2

If we’re lucky (and we usually are) and things work out the way I think they will, the Atlantic will see stronger and stronger storms, but not hurricanes, meaning nastier, more vigorous surf (which erodes beaches and hillsides) on a constant, all-year long basis.

Now, that would be awesome – the sea showing up about five feet from that front door. 🙂

Oh, that was just m-e-a-n of me! My bad!

Ex-PH2

Yep. We have autumnlike temperatures since mid-August, which we should not get until 2nd week in September. Lake Michigan has been pounding surf instead of placid. Two drownings last week, one was when a man jumped in to try to rescue an 11-year-old girl who got hit by a big wave, and the other when someone decided to take a swim from his boat.

The solar minimum is giving us the same amount of solar input that occurred during the LIttle Ice Age, which started just ahead of the REnaissance period.
Look at old paintings and engravings. Why would anyone wear 9 – NINE – petticoats over a long-sleeved chemise, and a bum roll, a velvet bodice, a high-necked collar or ruff, and an overskirt over a hoop, if the weather was stifling hot?

You wouldn’t. You’d faint in the heat. All those layers kept people warm. It wasn’t just fashion or customs. It was weather-related.

Hack Stone

Maybe it was just a demented way for these young virgins to make their men work for the conquest.

Ex-PH2

No, it was to hold body heat in on cold stone flooring. Even the men were heavily dressed. A quick look at medieval clothing shows the heavy long cloaks, doublets, boots and legwear called pumpkin pants (stuffed full of oats) that insulated the men. Even the peasants in England were heavily dressed. There was no central heating. All food was cooked in a fireplace, whether in the central part of a home, or a kitchen. The fireplace provided both warmth and cooking heat.

Ex-PH2

IN 2005, I started noticing that the Sun looked paler than usual in July. I asked a friend of mine about it, and he said the same thing. I also saw (and photographed) clouds at 50,000 feet (cirrus) dropping volumes of ice in July. That was not normal. Then the winters started getting heavier volumes of snow than they used to be, earlier than they used to (October and November instead of December) and the real cold sets in earlier than it used to.

Things are changing, and not for the better.

Devtun

Good for Brock America. Next – big beautiful walls & gates will be erected too keep out the riff raffs. I’m pretty sure the undermanned secret service wouldn’t mind this.

3/10/MED/b

Pretty sure there is a community “Let’s Make this a Better Neighborhood” pot-luck dinner in the immediate future.

Contractor1803

So he’s going to need a facility for his Secret Service (lifetime) Detachment. Why do I think that the construction and subsequent renting of that facility to the Secret Service is going to cover the note on the property, ala what the Clintons did in NY.

And in other “climate change news”, Michael Mann loses in court – case thrown out and he has to pay lawyer’s fees because he refuses to produce the docs and data for his claim:
