Chicago boxer Claire Quinn was on the way to the gym last weekend, planning on sparring in the ring, when she ended up in a street fight in Bucktown.
From the article: A teenager asked Quinn for directions to the Nike store as she walked in the 1600 block of North Damen Avenue about 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Moments later, an older man came up from behind and sucker punched her in the head, demanding her cellphone.
But the blow didn’t stop Quinn, a Golden Gloves champion with a 6-0 record this year.
“I was like, ‘Aw, heck no,’ ” she said by phone Thursday from Florida, where she went to stay with her parents while recuperating from a concussion from the attack. “He punched me the one time really hard, and then after that I just kept throwing my right hand into his groin.”
Quinn, 26, doesn’t think she was an obvious target. She wasn’t carrying a purse, wasn’t wearing headphones and wasn’t dressed up. “I don’t wear my nice workout clothes on sparring days because I don’t want to get blood on Lululemons,” she joked.
But the muggers probably thought she would be easy to rob because she seemed “Midwestern nice” and answered the teen’s question about getting to the Nike store about a block away, Quinn said. – article
They targeted her because she was carrying an iPhone, which immediately marks anyone as a target for theft. A local TV reporter was mugged in her car in a parking space at a convenience a few months ago because she had her e-tablet out. This electronic junk is attractive to thieves and if it’s visible, they want it and will do anything to get it. At least this young lady is alive and will heal, but what happened to her is the reason I still have a flip phone instead of that other stuff.
The nastiest part about this, in addition to giving her a concussion, is that the adult male was training a teenager to be a criminal. This is as despicable as you can get.

You go Girl! I hope those repeated punches to his groin affected his ability to reproduce more trash like he is. And maybe the wanna be punk he was “training” learned a lesson too.
All they likely learned was “Use a blunt instrument so the target gets knocked out in one whack.”

I hope that she punched hard enough to remove that punk from the Human Gene Pool. It’s obvious to me that punks like those who attacked her are never concerned about anything other than what they want RIGHT NOW and that’s why Law-Abiding People need to be allowed to carry what’s necessary to defend themselves. Said punks would end up full of holes in my neck of the woods and they’re the reason why I carry heat wherever I go!
