Man Pleads Not Guilty for Assaulting A 13-Year-Old Boy

| August 19, 2019

Curt James Brockway pleads not guilty of assaulting a 13-year-old. (CNN)

A rodeo was about to get underway on August 3, 2019, at Superior, Montana. The event started with the playing of the national anthem. But things didn’t go smoothly. A 13-year-old boy was on the ground, bleeding from the ear area and sporting a fractured skull. He had to be airlifted to Spokane, Washington, where he received treatment at a children’s hospital.

Curt James Brockway claimed that he asked the boy to remove his hat out of respect for the national anthem. The boy cursed at him. This resulted in Curt Brockway’s grabbing the kid by the throat, lifting him up, and then throwing him down to the ground.

A police report filed in the aftermath of the incident listed this account. Interviews with other witnesses substantiated most of this account. However, one woman stated that she did not hear Brockway ask for the hat to be removed.

The boy’s mother said that the man just came up behind her son and attacked him. There was no verbal exchange before that. He simply targeted her son. She wasn’t at the scene when this happened, so this is presumably her son’s account.

From MSN:

According to the affidavit, witnesses confirmed most of Brockway’s description of events, but one woman said she did not hear him ask the boy to take off his hat.

The child had blood coming from his ears, a concussion and a fractured skull, the affidavit said.

He was airlifted to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington, according to the document.

The child’s mother, Megan Keeler, told CNN affiliate KPAX that she received a phone call shortly after dropping off her son at the fairgrounds to tell her that he was being taken to a local hospital.

“Dude come up and grabbed him by his neck, picked him up and threw him to the ground head first,” Keeler told KPAX.

“There was no exchange — nothing! He targeted (her son) and took him down,” she added.

Brockway’s lawyer is trying to pull some cards in defense of his client. One, the claim that his client believes that President Trump “told him to” or “implied” for him to do this. If you listen to the speech that President Trump makes regarding things like this, he does not call for violence. Just repercussions based on what legally could be done.

The other card is the “disabled veteran with no life” card. His lawyer suggests that this is going to result in his client’s listening to someone that he identifies with. Thus, the “blame Trump’s rhetoric” card.

His lawyer points out that Brockway received a traumatic brain injury as a result of a car accident that he was involved with. He used this to suggest that a TBI related symptom makes him susceptible to impulse-driven actions.

Brockway has a previous arrest, charge, and conviction in his past. This involved using a gun against three people. He can no longer own one. He apparently was on probation for that event. The judge reinstated the supervisory element of that probation.

Thanks to Commissar for bringing this to our attention. You can read more on MSN.

I saw this article, they weren’t very kind to Mr. Brockaway’s past convictions for being a shit bag perviously for threatening to murder people while brandishing a firearm.

Perhaps Mr. Brockaway should not be allowed to roam freely amongst the citizens of this great nation as he seems unable to express his displeasure with the actions of others without resorting to threats of murder or beating children almost to death.

Here’s hoping he finds a comfortable cell to spend the next 20-30 years in and when he does get out he’s so old as to be a very minor threat in the distant future.

    TL;DR version, Fuck That Guy.

  2. A Proud Infidel®™️ says:

INEXCUSABLE, he needs to have everyone in his cell block told all about what he did to get jailed as well.

  3. Sapper3307 says:

    DD-214 soon?

  4. Comm Center Rat says:

From the MSN article: “The maximum sentence for felony assault on a minor, according to a charging document, is five years in prison and a $50,000 fine.”

YGTBSM! Here’s hoping BBTJ can help “Patriot” Brockway work through his “anger issues” over the next few years.

    • rgr1480 says:

Too bad they can’t send him to Manhattan Correctional Center and place in the same cell that Jeffrey Epstein was in …

… he just might self-murder himself.

      • rgr769 says:

What are you trying to do with that comment? You are going to get us accused of promoting “self-murder.” Oh, never mind, the fellow who always accused us of that cannot post on the inter-tubes anymore due to his current location and altitude.

        • rgr1480 says:

hehehe …. his “attitude” certainly changed.

          I like that.

          • rgr769 says:

His current attitude and altitude at -6 feet AGL is a permanent condition that certainly precludes his frivolous harangues and bogus lawsuits.

  5. 5th/77th FA says:

No excuse for this crap. And the lawer? YGBFSM! This dirtbag did his dirtbaggery on his own. No matter how anyone wants to interpret what anyone says, YOU and YOU alone are responsible for your own actions. Will be interesting to see an FOIA on dumba$$.

I don’t agree with everything that President Trump says and does. I also don’t agree with the way he says some things. And I certainly don’t agree with the attacks that are made upon him by the enemies of our Republic. I am still not sure why the domestic enemies of our Republic are hell bent on destroying this Country. If our system is so bad, then why the hell are so many people trying to get here?

Dirtbag gonna find out about the whole assault thing when Bubba and the boys get him in their Rodeo.

    • Graybeard says:

Defense lawyers are often highly paid professional liars and BS mongers. Their job is to get their client off.

No excuse for this perps actions – nor for the judge letting him loose when he has proven himself to be a danger to others.

      • rgr769 says:

I have heard it is unethical and a violation of state bar disciplinary rules if a criminal defense lawers don’t try to get their clients off. Of course, telling a bunch of bald faced lies about their client’s motivation for committing the indefensible crime does seem a tad unethical. But then there is a reason “liar” and “lawer” tend to rhyme.

  6. Ex-PH2 says:

Anyone besides me wonder if this guy thinks kitchen appliances talk to him? That’s a claim that can be verified now. Alexa can program your fridge and stove and dishwasher to remind you of their needs, never mind the laundry equipment.

(Hey, stupid! The first load is done! Get in here and start the dryer cycle, willya???)

  7. The Other Whitey says:

I’ll admit that I’m not terribly knowledgeable about the total catalog of behavioral effects from TBIs. But I do have a firefighter who suffered one (via helicopter crash in the Navy), and he is not violent. He occasionally needs extra training due to having trouble picking up certain skills and concepts, which is not exactly unusual among the general (uninjured) population, and that’s about it. He’s a good kid. Based on that, I’m thinking the “violent TBI” thing is about as credible as the “violent vet” myth: complete bullshit.

That being said, his lawyer is doing his job. It’s offensive bullshit, but he’s throwing out anything he can to defend his client. There’s a reason why most people couldn’t stomach being a criminal defense attorney.

    • Fyrfighter says:

TOW, I believe it’s related to what part of the brain was injured, impulse control CAN be a symptom / result of a TBI, but that being said, if this guy has that much trouble controlling his behavior, he should NOT be walking among regular folks, and needs a long vacation, preferably in a padded room where he can’t be a danger to himself or others.

  8. Thunderstixx says:

I would imagine that things like this example of shitty behavior would also be triggered by excessive consumption of beverage alcohol and other illicit pharmaceutical concoctions, professionally assembled or otherwise…
Matter of fact, I would bet dollars to donuts on it…
Have a great week dickweeds !!!!

  9. STSC(SW/SS) says:

Maybe you should have called the kid a commie and pointed out he wasn’t removing his hat to the crowd and let them shame the kid. Now you get to meet some of Montana’s worst scumbags.

  10. NHSparky says:

I’ve been at public events where some douchebag refuses to stand and/or remove their cover. A simple look or a diplomatic, “You joining us?” is as far as I’ve ever taken it, regardless of their reaction.

Bottom line, I don’t care if the kid was a little shitbag. You don’t go hands on, ever.

    Have fun in prison, fuckstick.

  11. Mason says:

What’s ridiculous is in the past when crazy people claimed to be receiving orders from politicians and celebrities people acknowledged they’re crazy a fuck.

Now? People fully buy into it that because Trump thinks kneelers should be fired that this guy could plausibly read into it that he needs to attack children wearing hats.

    • rgr769 says:

Yes, it is one of those secret “dog whistles” that only progs like the commie cuttlefish can hear and understand, besides the mentally ill and supposed Trump supporters, of course.

Not sure what the problem here is. I’ve seen Trump supporters saying they were going to do the same to Kaepernick for over a year because he kneeled.

You guys are just upset because someone got caught.

    • 11B-Mailclerk says:

And yet, the folks here seem to be quite different than those you describe.

      Odd that.

And the responses seem quite genuine, based on lots of prior posts.

      Odd that.

In other words, your post makes you look really dumb.

The problem isn’t on our end, but on your end. Especially with your inability to think critically, “Helpful Medal”.

There’s a difference between expressing frustration and a desire to do something… That one doesn’t intend to do… And doing something based on impulse. Whether this person actually said that as a post-incident excuse, or if he did this for other reasons, is up in the air on our end.

Another thing that you’re missing is that the vast majority of Trump supporters aren’t violent/aggressive. The anger here is based on the fact that someone could do what was done by the guy talked about in the above post.

Like “Helpful Medal”, you make assumptions, erroneous assumptions, about the people that you argue with.

      • rgr769 says:

You mean “Helpfull Medal,” because that dumbshit doesn’t know the word “helpful” only has one “l.” He does apparently know how to copy and paste.

The reason I’m posting under a different name is because you banned my last one. Ironic that, considering you posted that stupid meme a few weeks ago about how conservative forums are so “free speech” compared to liberal ones. This place is an echo chamber. At least I know who most of you are in real life since Bernath uncovered all that info and posted it publically before his death.

        • thebesig says:

Hempfull Mental: The reason I’m posting under a different name is because you banned my last one.

So, what do you do right after that? You come right the f(BEEP) back and do the same stupid s(BEEP) that you did that caused your other name to “get banned”.

Or did you really get banned? Are you sure you weren’t put on moderation mode where someone needs to approve your nonsense to post here? If you were banned, it would be to ban you, not just your name. If that were the case, then you’re obviously circumventing that alleged ban.

I don’t have the ability to ban people here, someone else did that. If your name “got banned”, then you must’ve rubbed someone “high up there” the wrong way… In addition to rubbing other people here the wrong way. My way of dealing with people like you is to rub their faces in the poop that they call an argument.

Hempfull Mental: Ironic that, considering you posted that stupid meme a few weeks ago about how conservative forums are so “free speech” compared to liberal ones.

Yes, we allow free speech here. We’re also more tolerant of opposing views, much more tolerant, than what you’d find with leftist counterparts. Granted, those on the left mistake our disagreeing with them as “silencing them” and of “not tolerating opposing views”, but that doesn’t make it as our oppressing opposing views.

However, the trend of your commentary shows that you have a knack for rubbing people the wrong way. You lack tact, people skills, etc. This is evident from the comments that others have about your drivels.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you have a history of being banned from other forums because of your attitude. I also wouldn’t be surprised if your coworkers/battles identify you as someone that creates a hostile working environment.

The problem isn’t with us, but with you. Instead of trying to find “wrong” with this site, how about taking a good long hard look at yourself and on how you interact with others… How you come across to others.

I would love to talk to people that know you, face to face, to see what their impression is of you.

Hempfull Mental: This place is an echo chamber.

No, you demonstrate the same interaction characteristics in this site, that others have done, thus causing yourself to get the same reaction. This doesn’t make us an echo chamber. It makes us near-unanimous with regards to how people react to you.

Hempfull Mental: At least I know who most of you are in real life since Bernath uncovered all that info and posted it publically before his death.

You’re full of it. Other than what has been revealed by someone on this site, you don’t know jack s(BEEP) about who we are in real life.

Put that bong down, step outside, and grab one of those things floating by your door. They’re called “clues”.

I’m not a violent type, heck, in school I only got into a couple tussles, one was standing up to a bully and no punches needed throwing and the other was punching an asshole that kept throwing mortar at me in bricklaying class. But, if that cocksucker did that to my kid, he better fucking hope he gets life without parole, cause I’d feed him to my hogs and not think twice.
