Man trying to climb into moving car shot by Lyft driver
Driver says he is physically OK but mentally shaken up

By Erik Avanier – Reporter
MIDDLEBURG, Fla. – An armed Lyft driver shot a man who was trying to climb into his moving car early Monday morning, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The Jacksonville ride-share driver told deputies he had just dropped off a client on County Road 218 about 5:30 a.m. when he spotted a dog next to the road that appeared to need help. The driver said that he was searching on his cellphone for where to take the animal when a man that deputies later identified as Matthew Caudill ran up to the passenger side of his car and started yelling.

The driver told deputies he was scared and started driving off, but Caudill grabbed the partially open window and began running with the car. The Sheriff’s Office report said that as the driver accelerated, Caudill grabbed the rack on top of the car and tried pulling himself onto the roof. At one point, according to the report, Caudill climbed through the window feet first while sitting in the window.

The driver told News4Jax that Caudill started kicking him, so he pulled out a gun and fired at him. Caudill was struck in the leg and eventually fell from the window onto the highway.

Zero morts today, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, but we do have two in the body and fender shop, and one in the wind. When will people learn it’s a bad idea to meet strangers while carrying large sums of money, and just piss-poor head work following instructions to go to a secluded area.

To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them… — Richard Henry Lee

If you are in my house without my permission trying to take my belongings, you are not a burglary suspect…you are the deceased wanna be choir member.

Caudill? meth/crack head or just all around dirtbag? Going by the mug shot, his mama must be so very proud of him. /s/

It should be elementary that you meet potential sellars at the popo station to do trade and commerce from on line contacts. Maybe the assistant principal should stay after school to learn this week’s lesson.

Be nice if we had the types of elected officials that the Honorable Richard Henry Lee was in office now.

That is still one fugly little gunz.

Re: The Floriduh story. I wonder what happened to the dog? Did it get a new chew toy when Matthew Bryant Caudill played “Pavement Skin Burn”?

Oh, Well, the Whiz Wheel®™ spins up a DAM resulting in WRT score of : 36 x 4 = 144 (Pretty gross, huh?)/s

Maybe Matthew Caudill was the owner of the dog, and he thought the armed Lyft driver was abducting his pooch! What did Mr. Caudill say as he was running along side the car? “Hey, that ‘s my dog…give him back…Hey” as the guy speeds away.

There’s more to come. Wait until AW1Ed gets it posted.

That is definitively a butt-ugly gun up at the top. But if it’s effective, who cares?
