Son shoots at masked gunman found trying to rob parents, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police are searching for a suspect they say was involved in a home invasion in west Houston.

Officers began receiving calls around 10 p.m. Sunday and were sent to a home near Briar Forest and South Gessner Road.

Police say a husband and wife pulled into their garage on East River Crest when a masked gunman was waiting and forced them inside their home.

Officers say the suspect began demanding the wife’s belongings. That’s when the husband tried to put up a fight and was later maced by the suspect.

Police say the husband ran out onto the street to get help.

At that time, police say the couple’s son was returning home and saw the suspect run from their yard down the street.

Police say the suspect fired at the son and the son fired back, but the man ultimately got away.

Teen fatally shot, 5 arrested after attempted car theft leads to high-speed chase from Lake County, Ill., to Chicago

By Alexis McAdams and Jesse Kirsch
CHICAGO (WLS) — Five teenagers are in custody and another was fatally shot after an attempted vehicle theft in Lake County, Illinois, which led to a high-speed chase into Chicago Tuesday morning, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.

Lake County sheriff’s police were sent to a residence in the 17600-block of West Edwards Road at about 1:15 a.m. after a reported vehicle theft. The 75-year-old homeowner told police he shot at individuals trying to steal a vehicle.

The homeowner said two of the suspects approached him and one appeared to be holding something. He fired shots at them fearing for his safety, hitting a 14-year-old boy from Chicago in the head, police said.

Police said a bowie knife was recovered at the scene. The homeowner has a valid FOID card and is cooperating with authorities.

A short time later Gurnee police at the scene of an unrelated crash near Route 132 and Hunt Club Road were approached by a black Lexus SUV. The passengers in the Lexus told police a passenger needed medical assistance.

Police performed first aid on the wounded teen, who was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he later died, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities have not released his identity, pending an autopsy. A 17-year-old boy who got out of the Lexus with the 14-year-old who was shot was taken into custody at the scene.

Four remaining people in the Lexus then fled the scene at high speed. Police pursued the vehicle, with speeds reaching more than 100 miles per hour, and Illinois State Police and Chicago police joined the pursuit. The SUV stopped after running out of gas at the intersection of Randolph and Halsted streets in the West Loop.

So, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes, seems we have a respectable two DOA, five inconvenienced and two in the wind. Bet most of the teens will be charged as adults, and any life they may have had in front of them is gone.

Bad, bad, bad, you homeowners. Standing between your belongings and the hopes and dreams of good boys; they dindu nuffin, just needing a little money for choir robes and a ride to choir practice. At least 2 of them got to have a chance to meet Jesus; the others we’ll have to support for the next 20 years…or not.

Loves the little hide-a-way hand cannon you gots there ‘Ed. Nothing like getting up close and personal with a pimp/2 bit tin horn gambler Paladin special. A type of derringer that is not a Deringer. Closer examination shows it to be Bond… A Bond.

Nah, the survivors of the Chiraq crimes won’t get 20 years. A Crook County judge will likely only send them to juvie for a few years. They won’t even be prosecuted for felony murder. Even if the homeowner is not prosecuted, the dead 14 year old’s mama will surely sue him for wrongful death for shooting her “good boy.”

The Bond Arms derringer is a modern, updated version of the old Remington double barrel derringer, which is chambered for the anemic .41 caliber rimfire cartridge. The Bond is likely chambered for both the .45 Long Colt cartridge and the .410 shot shell. That is why that model is called the “Snakeslayer.”

I have one of the original Remington derringers. With original ammo, it is quite accurate, but not so much with the repro ammo from Navy Arms. What is interesting is that Remington’s original patent for this design was filed 1867.

Does anyone besides Sister Mary Grace, who has her No. 15 yellow pencil sharpened and at the ready,
see a gap between paying attention to copy and publishing it?

Obvious question: if the “gunman” had a gun, why did he MACE the homeowner? Has “gunman” become the new term for thief? Almost all reporters are bimbos these days, aren’t they?

Note to car thieves: check the gas tank before you go on a 60++ mile long high speed chase in a stolen vehicle, especially a gas guzzler like a Lexus.

IDIOTS!!!!!

Oh, that box of stuff up there – that’s the new brand of licorice coming on the market, right?

NHSparky

I have used them in my Judge.

You do NOT want to be on the receiving end of those.

Claw

Has “gunman” become the new term for thief?”

Sure it has. “Gunman” is almost monosyllabic and so much easier to write than “Armed youthful male urban entrepreneur.”/s

CCO

How do we know that the intruder wasn’t dual-wielding pistol and mace, which would be a rather unique combination since law enforcement shifted to tasers?

Fyrfighter

Somehow I’m thinking that if the names ever come out on that last one, the whiz wheel might catch fire from overuse.

CCO

From the way the article is written, I get the feeling that the Chicago criminals dropped the injured boy off (with his brother perhaps?) and then floored the stolen car. If they had just eased out normally, no one would have chased them down.

Claw

They have named one of the yutes (18 year old woman) involved in that hot mess in ChiCongo. Although not a blonde, that’s the multiplier that the Whiz Wheel®™ will use. She was previously a guest at the Cook County Jail as Inmate #17776931 (Big Surprise, huh?) just last month.

Anyway, here’s the shackle:

Yes! Finally something about law enforcement cartridges.
