Person shot, killed after multiple attempted carjackings in Publix parking lot, HCSO says

By: WFTS Digital Staff
SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. — A suspect was shot and killed after multiple attempted carjackings in Hillsborough County.

According to deputies, the incident happened around 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday in the parking lot of the Publix located at 4854 Sun City Blvd.

During a press conference, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Eric Jackson, was walking around with a semi-automatic handgun as he attempted to carjack multiple victims. After realizing the vehicles were locked, Jackson then tried to enter the businesses in the shopping plaza.

“A couple of them (the employees) even grabbed the door and were trying to secure the door,” Sheriff Chronister said. “I have to note that at one point, as he was trying to carjack the cars, one of the Coke delivery individuals even positioned his truck between the suspect and potential victims.”

As Jackson walked around, an employee told their supervisor that he might want to check on his vehicle. After going outside to check, he was confronted by Jackson. Deputies said the supervisor fired his legally-owned firearm in self defense, hitting Jackson in the upper body.

Police: Woman shoots, kills intruder at Ortega Farms apartment
Neighbor says he’s glad woman was prepared so this didn’t go the other way

By Ashley Harding – Reporter, Melanie Schultz
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman shot and killed a man who broke into her Ortega Farms home on the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.

Just after midnight, police said they received multiple 911 calls about gunfire on Catoma Street near Timuquana Road, including one from a woman who said she shot an intruder. She told arriving officers she the man was still inside her apartment.

Homicide detectives said officers found an unidentified man laying on the floor by the master bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. Fire Rescue personnel said the man was dead.

A resident in the area told News4Jax what was going on is shocking since it’s a quiet neighborhood.

“It’s very concerning because it’s a lot of seniors, children and elderly people out here,” Phyllis Mack said.

The people have a right to keep arms; therefore, if we should have some Executive who attempted to set himself up as dictator or king, the people can organize themselves together and, with the arms and ammunition they have, they can properly protect themselves. . . . Grammar watch. First story: “Person shot, killed…” Person? Come on. Does that TV news writer think the dead dude is going to lodge a complaint for gender specificity? Story two: Police found man “laying” on the floor. No, he was lying on the floor. “Lay” is to put something down. Admittedly, the woman did put the dude down with multiple shots, but still, he was lying on the floor.

My remarks assumed the use of “person” and “laying” were written by the TV journalists, not by TAH.

“…and 2 out of 3 is not bad.” Florida…covered up with dirtbags. Baby Girl and grands live in Hillsborough County, just a few miles east of Sun City. She’s trained on shooting and carrying but doesn’t…yet. Maybe this linky I’m sending her will push her towards getting her CCP. The story posted shows that it doesn’t have to be dark for bad guys to be out and about.

The linky on the FNX 45 showed a picture and the specs of their version of the Saintly John Moses Browning’s (Howitzer be his name) Creation of hand held artillery. Y’all know the chapter and verse.

And Miss Thang, the black haired beauty with deep dark eyes,…You know beyond a shadow of a doubt that IDC SARC would hit that…but not with his fists.

Dahell is SARC anyways? He is conspicuous in his absence of late. And outcast? Working my azz off hauling the winning by myself. Was good to see E4 Mafia for life show back up. And charles w.

I just saw a post from him on a thread from yesterday. I’d been wondering about his whereabouts, as well. Glad to see so many of the regulars gradually popping back up here.
