We Live Rent Free After Five Years-TAH Compared to Stanford Experiment

| May 19, 2019

A Blogger claiming that This Aint Hell is like the Stanford Experiment.

It appears that after five years, we live rent free in someone’s head. He’s still taking a stab, after all these years, of trying to identify our psychological makeup as individuals and as a group. He is saying that we’re like the Stanford Experiment.

This experiment involved people playing roles as security guards and prisoners. One group played the role of security guards, the other as prisoners. Those running the experiment wanted to see how people would adjust to a prison environment. The prison guards were instructed to take action that would simulate conditions that reflected real life perceptions of what happened in prions.

Apparently, this experiment “closely resembles” our community. According to this individual:

The Stanford Prison Experiment is a perfect example of what thisainthell is. Proof then and proof now that when individuals have anonymity and a leader that says causing death and extreme hardships to people is ok, then people will regardless of the facts.

The folks participating in that experiment didn’t have anonymity. The role players saw each other. Unlike in the experiment, This Aint Hell posters could come and go as they wish. Nobody exercises control over us with regards to how we behave towards each other.

Folks may be given the option to “clean it up” lest they are put in moderation mode. I’ll leave it to your guess as to who this individual is, as well as to his blog.

Are you saying that the seagull has returned???

AW1Ed

Hondo

I’d guess not, given the comments regarding cheese consumption below.

Regarding the song: Falco’s Video in deutscher Sprache is worth a look, too. It was the original version; the version by After the Fire was an English-language cover (a member of After the Fire wrote the English lyrics, which follow Falco’s version reasonably well).

Fyrfighter

Sorry, I typed that in before I saw anything about cheese… mea culpa

Commissar

Wait there is more than one seagull? I wasn’t the OG seagull?

Hondo

No. Contrary to your apparent opinion of the entire world, this one was not about you.

Though it’s kinda telling IMO that you immediately assumed that it was.

GDContractor

Hahaha!

Commissar

I am called “Seagull” in responses from time to time. Wish you all would keep your nicknames straight. Without consistency all we can go by is the tone of the post.

SFC D

Consistency? You have the cojones to lecture us about consistency? This, from the silly pseudo-intellectual horse’s ass that can’t even remain on-topic in the simplest of threads? You’re consistent in your hijacking of threads, so at least you’ve got that going for you.

The Other Whitey

Commissar is consistently a dickhead.

Hondo

A veritable Steve Polychronopolis kinda guy, eh? (smile)

(Warning: the linked video is highly NSFW/around prudes, children, or clergy)

Hondo

No, Poodle, you don’t have to depend on the tone of the post to figure out what’s going on. For starters: you could, oh, maybe read the comments all the way to the end before waxing ignorant. Doing so might give you a clue.

Others can do that. But you’re apparently so lazy you can’t bother.

The fact that the article wasn’t about you was discussed the same day the article was posted – and less than an hour and a half after the first comment had been made. In contrast, you didn’t make your first comment until the following day, roughly 15 hours after the article’s subject had been positively identified.

The “seagull” references were early guesses that happened to be wrong. In this case, as is usually the case outside your head, it really wasn’t all about you.

Sheesh.

rgr769

Pretending the role players didn’t know each other is bullshit (which is what this “person” spews). They were all college students at Stanford University, a very elite private college. So the likelihood none of them knew each other is slim and none (more likely the latter). It is just that the researchers didn’t include their names in their failed psyche experiment on college students.

rgr769

I might also add the participants knew they were engaged in a make believe exercise. I have experienced some of those, and the participants know it is make believe, so sometimes they do stuff they wouldn’t even attempt in the real deal.

5th/77th FA

sigh…It is a shame that some of our beloved Compatriots are still unaccounted for, but the seagull showed his stinkin, self centered, asinine, opinionated, aggravating prattle back up.

I, in no way, see any similarities between this blog thingy and that dumbass experiment. But then again, old sparkle pony fart does live in his own egotistical fantasy world. Maybe he’ll stop by, crap up this thread with his empirical data, and then leave for good. That dickhead is a waste of good keyboard typewriter ink.

11B-Mailclerk

I think the “evidence” points to someone else.

5th/77th FA

Roger that 11B. I feel that they are pretty much “seagulls of a feather”. I’m sure that they both like the cheesy material trapped underneath an unwashed foreskin.

Twist

I don’t think that Lars has even been here 5 years, but I could be wrong.

Graybeard

Let me guess: this individual is named D. Lusional?

Or is it N. Zane?

Or is it Fule A. M’Larkey?

Does this individual even have an audience outside the TAH Sockpuppets Club?

Ah, well. I need to go organize my sock drawer.

HMCS(FMF) ret

I suspect that he’s a charter member of the Bezerkeley “Happy Sock Fan Club” at the Hammer and Sickle Cafe/COOP.

Andy11M

Make this guy spend a week living in a barracks with a bunch of Infantrymen. we’ll see if he still feels this way.

A Proud Infidel®™

Oh well, said individual can go copulate himself with a broken broomstick and a rusty tire iron.
Said individual needs to GET A LIFE and stop acting like an obsessed college freshman.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Well, I guess when you left school in 2015 and majored as an undergrad at UC Bezerkeley in “political science/political economy”, that gives you “credibility” to do a psychological assessment on those who visit a blog?

I don’t think so…

Commissar

Wasn’t me.

Inbred Redneck

Hey, when I’m through being a guard, do I get a turn in the tiger cage with all the rats ‘n’ stuff? If you talk about bein’ a prisoner here at TAH, don’t that mean that we gotta have the POW poser story down pat? There I was, bein’ held by the VC in a tunnel in Dung Heap in Viet of the Nam… I’d’ve been a goner if I hadn’t been saved by a daring rescue mission carried out by Round Ranger….

HMCS(FMF) ret

Gotta have a field telephone and an old steel spring mattress in that story, IR…

Inbred Redneck

Nah, the only mattress in the cage as one of them-there bed of nails things. You had to lay down on it while they sat a water buffalo dance on your chest. Or maybe it was an elephant. Or a dependapottamus.

SFC D

Forget cranking a field phone. This little wonder will provide the ring power of 12 TA-312’s at the push of a button.

HMCS(FMF) ret

That’s not a hobby, it’s a lifestyle for our resident SJW…

His introduction is classic:

Forgot to add Wifebeating and divorces as a hobby, buddy. Also forgot to include jail time as well.

HMCS(FMF) ret

Cheese slayer? Hollywood? Is he still running around as a rent-a-cop?

C2Show

Bingo! He is back it looks like and occasionally writes on that shitty blog of his.

We live in his head 24/7 now…dating back to 2012 nearly? Damn, I was in Massachusetts.

Still running around pretending to be a Cop.

A Proud Infidel®™️

How many ex-Wives does ‘Ol “Blobfish” have by now, is he up to nine or ten? Does he still creep around in a former Patrol Car?

C2Show

9 I wanna say. I think the last one put him in jail. I wonder why he didnt stay longer.

A Proud Infidel®™️

You forgot the Piled-higher and Deeper Degree from a diploma mill and the lab coat that makes him look like a creepy wannabe Proctologist.

C2Show

LOL Labcoat was legendary. I think Dennis cut down on his bullshit Degree mill stunts. When I say “cut down” eh went from 20 PHds to 15 bullshit three letter degrees.

sj

Left out Compass Call pilot LtCol and PFC (I think) in Texas State Guard which later threw his ass out.

Maybe now Round Ranger and Forging Frank will reappear and TAH will be back to the good old days. BTW, no sightings of Round in Lenoir/Gamewell.

Eden

Sadly, he made CPL about a year before being thrown out, but he got a bar to re-enlistment (the worst they could give him under the regs without a civilian criminal conviction).

NHSparky

Advanced PADI Open Water RESCUE diver?

FFS, he can’t even get it right.

PADI goes Open Water, then Advanced Open Water, then Rescue. Not all at once, although AOW is a prerequisite for Rescue. And those aren’t even the most advanced. Get 5 specialties (I also have Deep Dive and Night Dive) and you can qualify Master Diver, which is WAY different than Divemaster.

Dude can’t even get that much right, the tool.

SFC D

How can he be a diver? Fat bastard oughta float like a cork!

NHSparky

He’d need at least a 40-lb weight belt for sure.

Back before I became the “fine” physical specimen I am today (Yes, I’m in shape–round is a shape) I could submerge off Guam or Hawaii (no wet suit) with about 4 lbs. on. Add a full suit off CA and that went up to about 10.

I miss those days.

Andy11M

I made the mistake of going over to Heavy Chevys “blog” to read the referenced “article” and now I have this craving to eat a 5 lb block of cheese. Do I have a problem?

HMCS(FMF) ret

You won’t if you bathe with a Brillo pad and a 55 gallon drum of Brain Bleach (both can be purchased at the TAH Gift Shop)

Skippy

Pound sand you left wing lunatic

The Other Whitey

Wasn’t the Stanford Experiment rigged anyway?

Toxic Deplorable B Woodman

That’s what I remember hearing a couple of years back, that the Stanford Experiment was flawed and/or a fraud. Sum’tin’ li’dat.

Usafvet509

As well as the Kinsey report.

Just An Old Dog

LOL, I run a dating Scammers awareness page. Cheeseslayer here used to cruise Craigslists looking for wives, but they stopped putting Personal ads in that so hes moved off there.
I had no less than TWO women contact the site about Denny-Boy. They said he just set off the Creep O meter.
One met him for coffee at a Mall and he was telling them he owned a Security Company that guarded ATM techs with automatic weapons while they worked on Machines.
The other said he must have used someone else’s picture, a 30 year old pic or photo-shop because he was at least 75 pounds heavier than he portrayed himself.
He also said he flew a c-135 named “Cowtown Kathy” in the Gulf War.
What a fucking loser.

A Proud Infidel®™️

Does he still post pictures of himself in uniform or his creepy lab coat?

OAE CPO USN Ret

A quick run of “cowtown kathy” through the Google machine (set to safe search, because I was skeered of what might come up)… Where was I?

Oh, the Google machine says that “Cowtown Kathy” was a Ford B-24J-5-FO Liberator Serial No: 42-50763 of the 44th BG.

Outcast

Um, someone forgot super secret special combined forces underwater submarine door gunner paratrooper/forward air controller specialist.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

So who are the prisoners and who are the guards?

Also there are more than a few of us who don’t always agree as to our respective roles in the experiment apparently. In the comparison experiment everyone knew who was who…I think there’s still some debate here as to who are prisoners and who are free range….not sure who all the guards are either….

But I was never that sharp so maybe it’s just me.

sj

Is there a “Search” tab somewhere on TAH that I’m not seeing? Was trying to find Chevy and his blog for laughs but can’t find a “search”.

Claw

Dinosaurs/DoDo Birds/TAH Search Tab/ all same, same, GI./smile

Think it got lost in the transition from .us to .com

C2Show

Want a laugh, just copy and paste that quote up in the article and google it.

OWB

There are medical terms to describe folks who are obsessed with something/someone. Also for those who blame others for their failings. Two words pretty much sum up this character – delusional liar.

Commissar

Giving the authoritarian sycophantic pro-Trump lean of this group I think the Milgram experiment is a more accurate assessment.

5th/77th FA

No dumbass, this a more Pro American, Pro Constitution Volunteer Organization. Nobody drafted your aggravating ass, and if you were a draftee, you’d be classified 4F; F*ckin Foppishly Foolish F*cktard.

Get Bent!

Commissar

Actions speak louder than words. Nobody who supports Trump can claim to be pro-constitution. Pro-American ethno-nationalism definitely.

A Proud Infidel®™

Do you TRY your damnedest to be that full of shit or does it come to you naturally?

Hondo

Equivalently, one could say that anyone who supported Obama or Sanders can’t be a fan of the Constitution either. But without supporting facts, either statement is merely an unsupported assertion that deserves to be treated as what it is: “. . . . a tale told by an idiot; full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

Then again, in past comments here you’ve proven that you’re quite good at the italicized latter. So it’s no surprise that you’ve once again waxed ignorant above.

NHSparky

For reals? Tell me, O Enlightened One, which part don’t we support?

This should be good.

timactual

” Nobody who supports Trump can claim to be pro-constitution”

I am starting to think the rest of the people here are right about you.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Oddly enough most people here know I’m hardly what one would consider Pro-Trump…I don’t seem to have an issue expressing my views here, ever.

We don’t all agree here no matter what you think, we don’t all view the world through the same filter. We do all agree that having served something greater than ourselves we still believe it’s important to keep our opinions known because this nation, this great American Experiment is the singularly most unique situation in the history of mankind.

For tens of thousands of year’s of man’s existence violence and force of arms was how one group ruled another group.

This is the first time a government was built with the express purpose of protecting the individual from the tyranny of the majority. It’s amazing it’s lasted this long, those of us who love this nation want at least another 243 years of this experiment to continue.

When the only counter to any argument is to attempt to minimize the entire site because you feel they blindly support the president it’s not about the site, it’s about you.

C2Show

Well said, VoV.

The Other Whitey

Coming from the authoritarian socialist who would happily fellate Bernie Sanders? You don’t have a leg to stand on, Taylor.

Commissar

Every single social democracy scores higher in both social freedom and political freedom indexes than the US.

DO YOU ever even think about having an independent thought, something other than your Perfessers’ propaganda that you incessantly regurgitate here?

Commie-Tsar

I only repeat what the profs told me… while I hold my talisman (THE FLACCID MICROPENIS OF TRUTH)!

Ret_25X

Nope. Try again.

One: social freedom in so called “social democracies” is not higher, although I suspect you would love to see people you don’t agree with jailed as they are now doing in France, Sweden, UK, and Germany.

Two: All of those nations you likely see as “superior” to the US are police states where citizens are continuously in the position of playing “if it please the crown?”

The welfare state requires the police state. The police state cannot exist in actual free states, it requires either the knowing cooperation of all political parties, or the cowed acceptance of a disarmed populace.

The Other Whitey

How do rank that? Free speech? Nope, they define all kinds of things as “hate speech,” and in Britain you can be criminally prosecuted for giving a surveillance camera the finger. Ctizens’ Right to bear arms? Nope, not even in Switzerland. Healthcare? I’m not a fan on 70% taxes or euthanasia being decided by administrators (that dirty little open secret of so many socialized healthcare systems), so no. Equal treatment under the law? Moslems are pretty much free to do as they please to just about anybody in France, Sweden, Germany, and the UK, while “hate speech” laws shut down anyone who tries to say anything about it, on pain of incarceration.

Do you actually believe your own bullshit, Lars? Are you a liar or just an idiot?

Hondo

Do you actually believe your own bullshit, Lars? Are you a liar or just an idiot?

My money’s on both. I just haven’t decided if it’s simultaneous or alternating.

Twist

The safe bet would be on both

SFC D

“Every single social democracy scores higher in both social freedom and political freedom indexes than the US.”

Yup, we suck so bad that we’re getting flooded with illegal aliens (please take careful note that I did not refer to them as “immigrants”. Immigrants enter the country legally.)who think we’re doing something right. Poor misguided bastards.

A Proud Infidel®™️

I’m sure that the term “illegal aliens” is yet another “trigger phrase” that Babbles McButthead and his ilk want to ban.

OldManchu

Please go to one of them and remain.

NHSparky

Amazing how you get the answers you want just by twisting the phrasing of the questions.

As someone who has been to several of those, “social democracies” you so want to emulate, trust me–they’re nice places to visit, but no fucking way you’d ever want to live there.

Want examples closer to home? Try heavily leftist states like CA, NY, NJ, and HI. Highly taxed, shitty infrastructure, high poverty rates, insanely expensive, and people leaving in droves.

Commissar

I didn’t rephrase the question. When progressives talk about socialism they are talking about the Northern European model.

Even Bernie. Though when he first started talking about socialism in politics the Northern European “Nordic” model was not really a fully realized thing yet.

11B-Mailclerk

State Control of the Means of Production is what it is.

Stupid.

You can mix that cat shit with ice cream, but it ain’t a sundae.

It didn’t work with Stalin enforcing it. It didn’t work with Hitler enforcing it. It didn’t work with Mao enforcing it. It isn’t working anywhere else, and that harder it gets tried, the more if fails and the higher the bodies pile up.

That you advocate for it just demonstrates your epic idiocy and ignorance. Or, your active malice for the USA. Or both.

Usafvet509

My vote is it comes naturally to fuckmonkey here. That’s waaay too solidly placed as mental illness goes, to be anything but hereditary

Hondo

I didn’t rephrase the question.

No, Poodle, you didn’t. You changed the subject instead.

You are the one who first mentioned “social freedom/political freedom” indexes. You did that as a red herring/non sequitur in order to change the subject.

You changed the subject because you thought doing that would obscure the fact that you had no facts or logical argument to back up your unsupported (and absurd) assertion that Trump supporters did not support the US Constitution. You still haven’t provided anything to support that claim.

Unfortunately for you, some of us noticed. Changing the subject – generally by introducing something new and irrelevant to the discussion at hand, AKA the “red herring” or non sequitur technique – is one of the most common rhetorical tricks used by those who don’t have jack to back up their argument. It’s the mark of someone who knows they can’t win an argument legitimately.

Try again – and maybe try competently next time.

Commie-Tsar

I was BALLS DEEP FOR BERNIE until he sold out to Hillary.

USMC Steve

The northern European model as you refer to it does not work. Those countries are basically third world shitholes but with the TV, automobile, etc, where personal liberties are solely handed down by a dictatorial government. Ain’t nothing “progressive” about them. And those countries have been that way for DECADES, so yes, the model is fully in place and developed.

timactual

According to who? And does that include GB, where people actually go to jail for voicing unapproved opinions?

Eden

My kingdom for a twit filter on this forum.

OWB

Blah, blah, blah. And more of the same.

Is it possible for you to EVER stick to the subject at hand?

No? Well, all right then. Continuing to ignore the troll seems to have been the correct decision.

PS While it is obvious that entirely too many of youse guys enjoy feeding the troll, some of us just do not enjoy being forced to scroll through the comments below the rantings to see if there might be something on topic later on. Yeah, yeah. Sounds like a personal problem to me, too. Mutter, mumble…

Referencing the Stanford Prison Experiment shows what a joke they are. The STP has become widely discredited in the field due to Zimbardo’s misconduct in creating and running it.
