Funerals for MM1c George Hanson and EM3c William A. Klasing (World War II)

| June 24, 2019

Last December, DPAA announced that it had accounted for MM1c George Hanson, US Navy. MM1c Hanson was lost at Pearl Harbor, HI, on 7 December 1941.

MM1c Hanson will be buried later this week – on Saturday, 29 June 2019, in Laramie, Wyoming. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location for his funeral or interment.

Additionally, in February DPAA announced that it had accounted for EM3c William A. Klasing, US Navy. EM3c Klasing was also lost at Pearl Harbor, HI, on 7 December 1941.

EM3c Klasing will also be buried on Saturday, 29 June 2019, in Trenton, Illinois. Regrettably, DPAA does not seem to have posted the specific location for his funeral or interment.

. . .

If any TAH readers have the precise location for either of these funerals or interments, please post it in comments below. And if any TAH readers are in either area and have the time, here’s an opportunity to give someone lost during World War II a proper final send-off.

Fair winds and following seas to both of them.

I will raise a glass to these Warriors on Saturday upcoming. Here’s hoping for a good turn out locally for these Gentlemen.

Thanks for the update, Hondo.

Thanks, Hondo.

Not getting back to Wyoming soon, or up to Illinois.

I am going to DFW National Cemetery this Friday for an Air Force Veteran.

If you have not been to such a service, I suggest you do.

A remembrance of those who stood, and still stand before us.

Also a reminder of the calling cards that missed us, somehow, someway.

Peace to all.

Graveside services for MM1 Hanson will be at 1100 hrs, 29 Jun, at the Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie.

Unable to find any info on EM3 Klasing’s stateside interment.

RIP to both.
