John Marcus Alberti; phony SEAL remembered

CB sends us a link to KIRO-TV where the debate over John Marcus Alberti continues. You might remember we talked about Alberti last week while he was a-mouldering in a veteran’s grave he didn’t earn. From KIRO:

KIRO 7 spoke to the director of Tahoma National Cemetery, who said they accepted Alberti, believing the fake military discharge paper was real.

In other cases, bodies have been removed from national cemeteries after officials determined the deceased were not eligible. A U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs spokesman told KIRO 7 the agency is still investigating Alberti’s case.

“He needs to get out of there,” Navy SEAL veteran Don Shipley told KIRO 7. “He’s buried among heroes.”

KIRO 7 will stay on top of the story, checking with federal authorities and cemetery officials this weekend, and let you know what happens to Alberti’s remains.

A statement from the American Legion Post that buried him;

Auburn Post 78 had no knowledge of, nor contact with, Alberti prior to his death in April 2014. Alberti died on 4/18/2014 and his body was turned over to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office in Seattle. In late April, Alberti’s girlfriend of about 7 years contacted our Post service officer for assistance as Alberti had no known family and she was not legally his next of kin. She provided the Post with a copy of a DD214, that she apparently found in his possessions with a VARO Seattle “true copy” stamp and signature on the back. The DD214 was taken to Tahoma National Cemetery to schedule interment. A representative there researched him on their system and determined he was eligible to be interred at TNC.

At this time, all postings and pictures regarding Alberti have been removed from the websites and Facebook pages over which we have control. We at Auburn Post 78 are extremely distressed that we may have played a role in interring a “fake warrior” in our National cemetery; however the last we heard, the folks at TNC say he is an eligible Navy veteran (disclaimer: being eligible to be buried in the National Cemetery does not in any way imply that the service/training/awards listed on the DD214 are correct).

I don’t blame the Legion Post, they were doing what they thought was right and good given the information they had. Dig those old bones up and throw them in the local landfill.

Damn shame people have to screw up what would otherwise be an Honorable service record.

ChipNASA

From the other TAH link…

There’s probably a good reason that he refused all military benefits; he’d been outed at the old POW Network in 2006 as a phony who had never served even one day ever in the military in any service;

Doc Savage

Aint that just a bitch…..I hope they dig him up leave him in an unmarked plot.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Leaf blower!

Hondo

Negative, MCPO – too much cross-contamination of the surrounding area. It’s a National Cemetery.

Better to use a wet-sump shop vac. The effluent can be poured into a grave in a local pauper’s graveyard afterwards. The sump reservoir can then be decontaminated fairly easily.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

As usual you are correct again Hondo!

ROG ALL … wet-sump shop vac it is!

Marine_7002

Might be more appropriate to dump the effluent into a sealable container and throw it into a dumpster. Would hate to see the pauper’s graveyard defiled by Alberti’s DNA.

Hondo

Can’t really agree, Marine_7002. Even a LSOS almost always deserves a proper burial. Just not in a National Cemetery unless they legitimately qualify.

Carol Reed’s statement is dead on, so to speak. The post got hoodwinked and those who make the burial determination at THC just stamped APPROVED between coffee breaks, I guess. I’m sorry that his friend, who sounds like an innocent in this, too, now has a headache. With no known immediate family, it appears Alberti (isn’t that a city in Canadia?) will be traveling soon–to potter’s field or maybe the dump.

2/17 Air Cav

Spare the correction. Alberti is a provincia in Canadia, not a citi. Marv Alberti wears lady’s underwear. Fat Alberti is a cartoon. Herb Alberti plays the horn. And so on.

Prince Alberti in a can ?

USMCE8Ret

That’s fuggin’ hysterical!

Hondo

And, before I forget: major kudos to KIRO-TV for this story publicizing Alberti’s malfeasance. Had they not done so, I’m guessing Alberti’s final resting place would indeed remain an undeserved marker/urn in a National Cemetery. As it is now, there’s a reasonable chance he’ll be removed – deservedly so.

NHSparky

Poseurs defending poseurs. That never happens…

(Do I even need a /sarc tag?)

Just saying that verification of eligibility into the military cemeteries at the state and national level is whose responsibility? THAT’S RIGHT KIDS! The VA Department.

MGySgtRet

Guess the wait time to get buried aint the same as the wait time to see a doctor….

The sooner they can get you in the ground, the sooner they can clear those backlogs…

John "Faker 6" Giduck

NOOOOOO!!! Not the landfill!!

I had high hopes for some level of lasting national level recognition such as a “Giduck National Monument”, “Giduck’s Tomb” or my face on Mt. Rushmore. That and today’s bearclaw.

Landfill, ha! The people on this forum are cruel and uncaring which has been far different than my experiences as a survivor of 8 conflicts and my years of terrorist hostage negotiations

John Marcus Alberti is ruining things for us fakers.

I live in the viewing area and was half assed watching, until Chief Shipleys face suddenly filled the w hole screen. They really should give you a five second warning. I think I wet myself and dropped a glass. Frightening.

ChipNASA

You think your wet yourself?

Hell I though about wetting myself just reading what happened to you and imaging having The Hair pop up on my tee vee as well.

/if anyone could make someone piss themselves over the phone, the TV or the Internet, it’s “The Hair”

FatCircles0311

So all these idiots just took some old misspelled piece of paper that was dug up in a home as the be all and end all regarding eligibility, even though our country has a gigantic database specifically for keeping/accessing accurate records of military service?

American Legion WTF.

What a clusterfuck.

Hondo

Actually, FatCircles0311 – to my knowledge, there ISN’T any such official database of military service that’s readily accessible. The various services have personnel records for those punching out since about 2000, and NPRC has most of those from before that date (and reconstructed records for most of those whose records were nailed in the 1973 repository fire). But those aren’t readily available, and have to be accessed via methods that are at least partly manual.

IMO there should be such a publicly-available official database that would allow quick verification of military service, decorations, and type of discharge; that would solve one helluva lot of problems. But as far as I can tell, today there isn’t.

David

See Janet Napolitino, that is probably her “potential domestic terrorist” list.

Cory Rueb

Hondo is correct, there is no such data base. In fact each of the branches of the armed services uses a different type of computerized data base, and the VA yet another. All data must be Manually transferred, thus the Over One MILLION Veterans in the back log at the VA.

I am with the VFW Post in Auburn, we had only 48 hours to prepare for this event. We are all volunteers, who try to pay respect to deceased veterans of current and past conflicts. We had a Memorial for a former member of our post, a Korean War veteran who we were also preparing to honor, and 2 others in the hospital. We focus upon the living. It is sad that we participated in this farce.

However, I believe the priority is to provide assistance to veterans in need, and honor the passing of those who served. It is better that we make the occasional mistake, than to neglect hundreds of those who served while we try to screen fakers.

I urge everyone to check with Stolen Valor and other groups to weed out the phonies. And to Prosecute those who Steal the limited resources of Real Veterans!

gitarcarver

Dig those old bones up and throw them in the local landfill.

Really?

Couldn’t have gone with “dig those old bones up and inter them properly?”

Hondo

gitarcarver, if I recall correctly I read somewhere that the guy was cremated. But the point is fair.

Even a LSoS deserves a proper burial. He just doesn’t deserve that burial to be in a National Cemetery if he’s ineligible to be buried in one.

nbcguy54

Smoke ’em if ya got ’em…

gitarcarver

Hondo,

I was just going with the original prose. I think the picture accompanying the post and articles show he was cremated as you suggest.

He doesn’t deserve to be in a military cemetery which to me means the “proper” internment is somewhere else.

Jabatam

Received word from the admin of Legion Post 78. Mr. Alberti is being disinterred tomorrow

Andria

I’m confused at what point does it say Alberti asked to be buried there, yes I agree to the removal but for those of you saying to dispose of him in a landfill shame on you.he was still a human and nobody is perfect. respectfully decide your words before posting ,this can happen when someone else makes decisions on your burial

nbcguy54

We stand corrected. Please accept our apologies.

He should of gone up the stack with the rest of the hot air. Only fitting after living a life spewing hot air.

Apology accepted???

Green Thumb

Or there is the Kibbles n’ Bits option.

Just an Old Dog

Andria,
Generally dead people don’t have a say in where they are buried. That being said, it’s a given that people who fake service KNOW that its VERY likely that their bullshit will bring up the question when they pass if they can be buried as a veteran.
There are probably scores of families of fake veterans who tried to get their posers a VA headstone with only the posers verbal claims to back it up.
I am sure when they discovered there was no truth to it and no paperwork to get a free headstone they were sadly dissapointed.
This fuckstick lived and died a lie.
He sounds like he was a professional leech. He had no one in his life for a reason. He was a dick. They need to do with him what they do to the unclaimed/ unknown bodies in LA County. After their death date and a certain time period they are cremated. If no one claims the remains they are buried togther, up to 200 sets of ashes at once in a common grave. It saves space.

GDContractor

Dude was outed in September of 2006. He had plenty of time to destroy that fake DD-214, but he did not. That makes him what? A DICK! Sweet dreams, Andria.
