ND:tBF – the Tantrums Continue

| March 27, 2013

Kim Jong-Un – designated by Jonn as ND:tBF here at TAH – is at it again.  He’s throwing yet another temper tantrum.

This time, per the official state news agency KCNA he’s put his artillery and rocket units on “combat-ready posture”.  He also says they’re ready to strike targets in “South Korea, Japan, Guam, Hawaii and the continental US”.  And he’s also warning South Korea that they should “be mindful that everything will be reduced to ashes and flames the moment the first attack is unleashed.”

(yawn)  Just another episode of “Norks being Norks”, IMO.

The Pentagon’s reaction?  The KNCA remarks were characterized as “bellicose rhetoric” by a spokesman.  The spokesman also indicated that US was prepared “to respond to any contingency.”

No word on whether or not the Pentagon spokesman yawned, belched, or farted before or while making his remarks.  (smile)

@49.

Good point.

Green Thumb

Damn Ex-PH2.

I have my “Ranger” Burrells and SSG Cox has his BS(m)(v) issues, but this appears to be yours.

Just poking fun, my Lady.

Ex-PH2

GT, sometimes giving one a set-down puts things in perspective.

But may I suggest that my occasionally referring to Lil Kim as Fatty da T’ird is appropriate?

I’m just keeping on top of this, in case things do get dicier. After all, I could have made it earthquakes or frakking for gas or global climate issues.

Ex-PH2

Besides, everybody knows that conspiracy theories are the most fun you can have outside of being a fake solider who (never) served in any theater other than the Rialto downtown on Lake Street.

More breaking updates on Norkland:

He wants to make sure that he is always on your mind. Isn’t that a Willie Nelson song? Or was it Patsy Cline? No, wait – Patsy’s songs were “Sweet Dreams” and “Crazy” and “I Fall To Pieces”.

But I can make up new lyrics for one of Willie’s other songs.

Ex-PH2

Uh-oh. Mr. Panetta is now sticking his oar in.

“We must be very concerned.” Yes, that will truly present us as shaking an admonitory finger at Short Round Lil Kim.

Hey, Leon, what are you planning to do if/when Lil Kim shuts down the Kaesong factory without warning? He can do that, you know. You gonna sit on your thumbs?

Ex-PH2

There is also this news item, that Norkland is restarting a reactor it shut down five years ago.

http://wgntv.com/2013/04/02/n-korea-to-re-start-nuclear-facilities-without-delay/

Ex-PH2

This article is from Canada, re: Norkland’s shuttered nuke reactor restart. Remember, this is the plant that makes plutonium for bombs. Ban Ki Moon at the UN is getting involved, calling for calm dialog.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013/04/02/north-korea-south-us-threats.html

That noise you heard was me falling off my chair laughing. Calm dialog? That would somthing like this: “Would you like fries with that?”

Ex-PH2

This is just a mere idea on my part, and you guys who’ve been in combat can argue the point. It’s pop quiz time, kids.

The Norks are seriously big on displaying their stuff. Their troops appear to be highly disciplined. Look at those nice, straight lines all the units show in the parades. They also goose-step a lot, which as I understand it, is hard on the feet. There were some photoshopped images of hovercraft landing on a Nork beachead and deploying troops as if it were Normandy all over again. And it appears that the cooling tower for the nuke breeder reactor that was shut down five years ago has now been rebuilt and will shortly swing into action, but Short Round Lil Kim Fatty da T’ird says it’s for economic reasons. Norkland has some serious uranium mine resources for yellowcake production.

Now in view of all this, and the fact that the Norkland army/military is highly disciplined, (which can also mean tightly controlled – no initiative allowed) and taking into account that the US has been through two war actions (Vietnam and Middle East) in which guerrilla warfare was the norm, rather than set piece warfare, should Lil Kim decide to make (a mistake) war his next objective, can we beat the pants off the Norks or not?

Next question: If Lil Kim Fatty da T’ird decides to engage in a pre-emptive strike of any kind and the US goes to the aid of the South, is there any possibility that either China or Russia would ally itself with us? (Remember, they both have asked the Norks to back off.)

Last – and remember, this is for posterity – will we follow normal Rules of Engagement (see the enemy, shoot the enemy) or be politically correct? (Remember, US troops were regularly told that seemingly friendly Vietnamese were actually VC, don’t trust them.)

Okay, handing the reins over.

This link is to India Times, with links to several other newer stories about Norkland:

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/North-Korea-attack

Ex-PH2

Naw, I’m not letting this go. While you all are yapping about gun this and fake soldier that, the Norks are lining up for something. Now the Navy is deploying a second ship, the USS John McCain, a guided missile destroyer, to the area off the Korean Peninsula.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/02/us-korea-north-usa-idUSBRE9310OL20130402

Don’t say you weren’t warned. 🙂

Ex-PH2

The first ship is the McCain. This second ship is the USS Decatur, named for Commodore Stephen Decatur (Decatur, IL was named after him), but no details were given. Just the announcement.

PintoNag

@62 I’m glad SOMEBODY isn’t letting this go, because everybody who SHOULD be screaming about it (like, oh, I dunno, maybe the PRESIDENT?!) isn’t. The links you have above are about the only thing out there, and all that I have seen, too.

Twist

I’m really glad that you keep posting these links.

Ex-PH2

Thanks to both of you. I told Jonn I will keep an eye on this until or unless it stops.

News of the hour is that the Hackers Anonymous group has pierced the veil of Norkland by hacking into their only internet support, which is run in China.

http://feeds.nbcnews.com/c/35002/f/653378/s/2a4341a5/l/0L0Snbcnews0N0Ctechnology0Ctechnolog0Canonymous0Eclaims0Eit0Estole0E150E0A0A0A0Euser0Erecords0Enorth0Ekorea0E1C9178147/story01.htm

ComancheDoc

So the McCain will go and huff n puff blustering about but in the end be ineffectual? seems poetic…

Ex-PH2

Yeah, unlike Stephen Decatur, McCain is just a nunch. 😉

So here’s another op-ed piece – well, several – about what to do about Norkland:

http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/02/17571557-how-do-you-solve-a-problem-like-north-korea-three-viewpoints?lite&ocid=msnhp&pos=1

I’d say have “Paper Tiger” translated into Korean and sung by someone with a really, really bad accent, then broadcast it to Norkland at the DMZ. Also, run ads about things like iPhones, smartphones, cars, oranges at 4lbs for $1.49, bananas at $.29 a pound, etc., and end it with ‘Nothin’ but love for you’, then start over again.

Here’s the link to the song by Sue Thompson “Paper Tiger”.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7F8NFfaHVYY

Most appropriate.

Ex-PH2

I almost forgot: airdrops of a weekly flyer for an affordable grocery store like Aldi and other paper ads for things like shoes, cans of beans, jars of kimchi and pickled eggs, bread, and frozen turkeys with a full kit of stuffing and gravy for home cooking.

Ex-PH2

This just popped up at 9:28PM CDT online:

http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=OBR&date=20130402&id=16297620

Delaying opening the Kaesong factory complex is the same thing as putting out a feeler.

This is not good.

Ex-PH2

This is the latest update, directly from the source:

http://www.chron.com/news/world/article/NKorea-vows-to-restart-shuttered-plutonium-reactor-4401752.php?cmpid=usworldhcat

Norks are now refusing to allow South Korean workers to enter Kaeson factory complex.

Ex-PH2

What am I doing up so late, you ask? Keeping a weather eye on the tiny kingdom of DuLoc… I mean North Korea. Things are moving rapidly ahead, as this direct from Reuters indicates.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/03/us-korea-north-idUSBRE93002620130403

Either Norkland is sealing itself off from the real world, which would not surprise me, or it thinks it’s hiding what it’s doing from the real world.

DuLoc is, DuLoc is, DuLoc is a perfect place……!

Ex-PH2

This is this morning’s news release. There are some interesting videos to view on the right side, as well.

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/04/03/nkorea-denies-skoreans-passage-across-border-to-enter-factory-that-is-last/

So that’s that, I guess. Next, we should be watching for air cargo fights from Iran and perhaps cargo ships from Iran and Venezuela pulling into Nork ports of call.

Shutting down the Kaesong complex is supposed to be the first signal that offensive action is not too far off.

In my view anything from the Norks is offensive, however, at this point the whole world needs to be alert.

Let’s not forget the story of the boy who cried ‘wolf’. He did so once too often and the villagers ignored him, and the wolf finally came and killed the sheep and the boy, and then went into the village and killed the villagers.

No, I’m not kidding. The wolf just might be approaching the door.

Ex-PH2

Doesn’t mean I can’t still make jokes about Li’l Kim Fatty da T’ird. The Chinese have been doing it for a while.

Ex-PH2

Here are the latest updates this morning, from the Telegraph:

Kerry says the US will defend itself AND our treaty ally South Korea:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newsvideo/us-politics-video/9968297/US-vows-to-defend-itself-against-North-Korea-nuclear-threat.html

China is calling in top 3 ambassadors regarding North Korea’s behavior:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/9968951/China-calls-in-top-three-ambassadors-on-North-Korean-alarm.html

I will say that this appears to be snorting and pawing the ground on the part of the Norks, but the belligerence level is rising, so I’m keeping a weather eye on this business.

Stay tuned to this station for further updates.

Ex-PH2

One more article, with a rather prosaic viewpoint of the Kims and their Cult of Self.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/timstanley/100209722/north-korea-is-funny-thats-why-we-have-to-take-it-so-seriously/

Note the last paragraph, which holds more weight than anything anyone else has said: it’s all about ‘honor’.

PintoNag

I would think the solution would be easy. If China backs the US in this situation, Kim must know that he will lose. If Kim knew that he would be immediately crushed between the might of China and the US, that there was nothing to gain and everything to lose by provoking war, he would stop this nonsense. It’s not as implausible as it seems; we were allies with China during WWII. It’s not impossible that we could ally with them again. The important thing would be to make Kim see that he, and his nation, would be destroyed.

Ex-PH2

PN, yes, but to you and me, that makes sense.

We’re talking about a crazy man who was raised to think that he is a god and can do no wrong. The Kims have developed a cult that borders on pure nuttiness to you and me, but it is what drives Li’l Kim. Should he take this too far, he will have no choice but to engage in offensive acts.

Well, most of what he does is offensive, but you get the drift. If he crosses the line in the sand, he has to follow through. While I don’t know how dumb or smart he is, he has the generals behind him and they may be what is pushing him to do these things.

The Kim family has lived in a fantasy world of their own creation for decades now. The generals, and Li’l Kim, may be completely convinced that they are invulnverable and need only defend their honor. It’s more important to protect all the artwork depicting the Kims, including 35,000 statues of various sizes and shapes, than it is to provide North Korean people with food and clothing. They personify the term ‘batshit crazy’.

I agree with you. I think China and Russia both would ally with the US because they have something at stake in this, too. We must all, therefore, be vigilant. Like my high school history teacher said ‘Don’t assume anything.’

Ex-PH2
Ex-PH2

And this editorial reflects my viewpoint, that Li’l Kim might start a war by mistake.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/davidblair/100210376/could-north-korea-start-a-war-by-mistake/

PintoNag

There is a frightening resemblance to the Nazi war rallies in that video clip in #79. Now I wonder if this little putz isn’t our next Hitler.

Ex-PH2

I was thinking that, too.

Ex-PH2

I took a second look at the ‘rally’ video, and it really is downright creepy in its resemblance to Hitler’s rallies.

Eeew!

Ex-PH2

I was concerned that I might see what is written in the next to last paragraph, in this article from Fox Business.

http://www.foxbusiness.com/investing/2013/04/03/north-korea-just-another-hissy-fit-or-looming-geopolitical-crisis/

The South wants to revive its own nuclear-fuel producing program.

Perhaps Li’l Kim Fatty da T’ird haas bitten off more than he can chew, but on the other hand, since he’s an unknown quanity and the generals are behind him, possibly pushing him, this all makes it difficult to come to a conclusion. This is not following the previous patterns set by Medium Kim Fatty Daddy da 2nd.

Ex-PH2

Just keeping up the good work on my end, as I continue to dig deeper and deeper into the psyche of the Norks of Norkland.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/9970346/North-Korea-US-sends-missile-defence-system-to-Guam.html

How long did you guys say it would take to get those missiles up to Ft. Greer? Whatever happened to the Minuteman missile system? Didn’t I tell you NOT to toss out old technology everytime some new toy comes along?

Geez! Nobody listens any more. It’s like dealing with a bunch of kindergartners.

Ex-PH2

And this is a summary article that also includes the newest update, the deployment of a US missile defense to Guam.

http://themoderatevoice.com/179960/deployment-of-missile-system-to-guam-other-north-korea-updates/

Nice ship photos, too.

PintoNag

Here’s a question for you: when does our government pack up and go underground? Do they do that before or after a nuke strike?

Ex-PH2

Ah! I wondered that myself. I was kind of hoping that they’d go some place where we could just weld the door shut from the outside and pile rocks on the entrance so they can’t get out and bother us any more.

However, in the days of the Cold War, there is supposed to be a complete underground war room in the Pentagon that is bunker-bomb proof and there was a bunker complex disgused as a hotel resort some place in Maryland. It’s no longer hidden and secret, saw it on H2 channel a while back, don’t remember when. The assumption is that they’d have a warning. The reality is that they would not.

PintoNag

There are two that I am aware of (being a sort of bunker enthusiast, I ramble around on this stuff.) One is Cheyenne Mountain, and the other is Mount Weather. I’m not sure what their official names are.

Ex-PH2

I think Mount Weather may be the one in Maryland, but I’m not sure.

It used to be that a SAC base somewhere in Nebraska was the destination, but things have changed.

Ex-PH2

In regard to bunkers, have you see the Deep Earth Bunkers by Scott Bales? He’ll send someone to build it onsite, instead of making you wait for his welders to build one and ship it.

But this came in this evening. China is moving tanks to the Nork border. I don’t want this. No one does, but China knows something we don’t, so I accept their actions.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/03/us-officials-say-military-buildup-in-china-related-to-n-korea-tensions-tanks/

Ex-PH2

I swear, that pudgy little penguin squatty Li’l Kim Fatty da T’ird won’t even let me get some dinner and read a book. Now he’s pounding his chunky little fists on the table. He’s just about to start throwing things.

http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04/03/17580610-north-korea-warns-us-its-military-allowed-to-wage-nuke-strikes?lite

I’ll be keeping an eye on what China is doing, also.

Ex-PH2

This is from a February issue of the Daily Telegraph, and makes some interesting points.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/concoughlin/100202556/north-koreas-nuclear-test-will-boost-iran/

Ex-PH2

And in reading this written in March, about the relationship between China and Japan, you do wonder what the possibilities are, and what might trigger a conflict.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/comment/ambroseevans_pritchard/9950791/The-dangerous-drift-towards-world-war-in-Asia.html

Ex-PH2

I will not only not give up the ship, I will stand my ground.

Latest from Norkland, via South Korean observers and Reuters:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nation-world/sns-rt-us-korea-north-missilebre93301s-20130403,0,6720083.story

Ex-PH2

Whatever the Norks are up to, it’s late and I need to get some sleep. If they’re going to blow the place up, it will have to wait until tomorrow for my full attention.

To Li’l Kim Fatty da T’ird: Nighty, night, sleep tight, don’t let the South Koreans or China bite. Nuttin’ but love for ya, man… you dimwitted penguin mimic.

Ex-PH2

Oh, all right, one last story. This one is short, like its source.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/north-korea-tells-south-firms-kaesong-pullout-april-020506793.html

It’s plain that Li’l Kim is consolidating his … oh, crap, it can wait until morning. It ain’t like Napoleon is coming to town, is it? Does anyone else think he has a Boney complex? That’s Boney, not boner. Get your minds out of the gutter.

If this squatty little penguin mimic tries to pull a fast one overnight, I will hang him up by his toes and torture him with bizarre household products.

Ex-PH2

I’m annoyed that the penguin somehow woke me up, but he does have a supporter… somewhere….

http://feeds.nbcnews.com/c/35002/f/653378/s/2a52c11e/l/0Lworldnews0Bnbcnews0N0C0Inews0C20A130C0A40C0A40C175843110Enorth0Ekoreas0Eoverseas0Eapologists0Edismiss0Epropaganda0Eabout0Etorture0Erepression0Dlite/story01.htm

Note that the usual invitation to “go live there, no one is stopping you” is always ignored, as pointed out in this article.

Ex-PH2

So there’s this summary, with links to the latest moves.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/9970859/North-Korea-missile-threat-latest-live.html

Here’s a bit more. The report that the Norks demanded that the South leave the Kaesong complex by April 10 was apparently an error by the South. Still….

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/9970631/North-Korea-moves-missile-to-east-coast-amid-threats-of-attack-on-US-bases.html

It’s too early for this stuff.
