ND:tBF – the Tantrums Continue
Kim Jong-Un – designated by Jonn as ND:tBF here at TAH – is at it again. He’s throwing yet another temper tantrum.
This time, per the official state news agency KCNA he’s put his artillery and rocket units on “combat-ready posture”. He also says they’re ready to strike targets in “South Korea, Japan, Guam, Hawaii and the continental US”. And he’s also warning South Korea that they should “be mindful that everything will be reduced to ashes and flames the moment the first attack is unleashed.”
(yawn) Just another episode of “Norks being Norks”, IMO.
The Pentagon’s reaction? The KNCA remarks were characterized as “bellicose rhetoric” by a spokesman. The spokesman also indicated that US was prepared “to respond to any contingency.”
No word on whether or not the Pentagon spokesman yawned, belched, or farted before or while making his remarks. (smile)

Kim Jong-Un reminds me of a school shooter before he goes on his rampage. Everyone knows something just aint right about him, but take his threats and rants as just harmless temper tantrums from the odd kid in the back of the classroom….
Must be some long range artillary to be able to his Hawaii and CONUS.
Ba. Where’s Jihad Gene when we need a good KJU story…Dear Leader come out to play!!
I hear the Boy Scouts are gearing up to meet this threat head on.
My wife is freaking out over this, since my brother and his wife are stationed in Guam. I had to explain to her how hard it is to hit an island in the middle of the ocean from more than 2000 statute miles away.
Why doesn’ the US just go ahead and send some ICBM’s over there and get rid of the threat once and for all?
This morning, Lil Kim said he would hit US bases in South Korea. I keep checking to see if he’s done that yet.
Nothing so far.
He’s such a liar.
I want to get on the PA system near the DMZ and speak obscenities in Korean at the Norks. I just don’t know any Korean.
People would cry about the forced labor camp survivors who would have no work after an attack…
People would cry about forced labor camp survivors not having any work after the attack.
…sry bout the double posting, this thing is acting weird
@ #1 – as always, the problem is that if you take the little turd seriously and they wind up doing nothing, you get crucified for wasting time and resources. If you ignore him and they DO do something silly, it’s even worse. It’s a no-win situation, and internally he winds up looking like either a) the guy who stood up to the big bad US or b) the victim of “unprovoked aggression” if we attack/retaliate. This is pretty much a win-win from their point of view, even though it looks silly as hell to us.
Ex-PH2: it’s been years, and if I recall correctly “Kim Jong-Un kaesaekki!” isn’t exactly obscene. But I’m guessing calling ND:tBF the “son of a dog” over the DMZ PA system would be somewhat satisfying. (smile)
@11 I do agree with that.
The guy is hopefully just trying to blow smoke up everyones butts so that they will cave and give in on some sanctions. Or he is serious..
maybe he will just shell that island again, or maybe just sink another South Korean Navy Patrol Boat… maybe he will do something even more dumb.
Our responses to him have been weak in my opinion, though I am not so sure what more can possibly be done against a country whose citizens have had to revert to cannabalism to survive in the not so distant past.
China created this monster, and they do not want to deal with the disaster that will come if their puppet collapses on itself. Though, they aren’t so much a puppet, but that drunken inbred cousin they tolerate, because it keeps us from being on their border.
The locals said that until he closes off Kaesong, no worries.
The locals said until he closes Kaesong, no worries.
This might be a double post.
The last attempt seems to have increased entropy.
The locals said unless he closes Kaesong, no worries.
Had the cookies blocked.
Oops.
Even if ‘lil Kim DID have a missile capable of hitting Wetern CONUS and used it, maybe he could get SF and LA out of our hair?
I was in a bad mood so I went to McD’s and had the doublecheese quarter pouncer and frights and a large DT soda, and saw the news crawler on the Cockeyed News Network (CNN), which said (and I quote) The White House is aware of the threats by North Korea and is taking them seriously.
The translation for that sentence is: We’ll issue a statement using harsh words so that I can go play goof with Tiger again.
Dunno, Ex-PH2. I hear Tiger has a new blond girlfriend and is kinda busy these days.
‘Course based on what we’ve seen in the past, maybe she’s the one playing “goof”. (smile)
Don’t change the subject, Hondo. >:)
Ex-PH2: don’t look at me. You’re the one who brought up Tiger. I just observed he might be too busy to play golf with the POTUS right now. (smile)
We may be getting ready to repeat history. In an on-line history, “Japanese Preparations for the Attack on Pearl Harbor,” the author writes:
“…In the last week of November 1941,…Japan’s militarist Prime Minister, General Hideki Tojo, issued a blunt warning to Britain and the United States that Japan would ‘purge East Asia of US-British power with a vengeance’…Despite the clear threat of war contained in Tojo’s warning,…no steps were taken…to bring the United States Pacific Fleet…to a state of war alert.”
I wouldn’t ignore this moron. Unless we want part of our territory heavily irradiated.

I second what PN said: I wouldn’t ignore Lil Kim. Make fun of him, yes, because he’s presenting himself as a dipstick, but ignore him: NO.
He’s on a bender to get attention. He’s also banging his cage doors a lot more often than his daddy did. The attack on the South Korean island last year was a sortie.
This morning, Lil Kim cut the final military hotline to the south. http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Global-News/2013/0327/North-Korea-turns-up-volume-by-silencing-final-military-hotline
The boy who cried “wolf!” did that because he wanted company. This popinjay is crying “wolf!” for a different reason. I would not take my eyes off him for one second, unless the Chinese can put a choke chain on him real soon.
Here’s my letter to Lil Kim:
Dear Powderpants:
Okay, you got my attention. Whaddaya want, huh?
You’re biting off more than you can possibly chew, you spudafong.
Didn’t your daddy tell you if you yank the tiger’s tail, it will turn on you and rip you to shreds?
No? Well, keep it up, Short Round. Keep it up. My eyes do glow in the dark.
It’s still good news week. The US sent Stealth bombers on a practice run over the Norks.

Just keeping you all up to date on Nork-related stuff. Here’s some stuff on the Navy’s newest fast surface-warfare agile combat ship, USS Freedom:

This is the latest from Lil Kim’s corner of the room.

It’s 11:25PM my time (CDT) and this just came in on KITV (Hawaii) news:
http://t.co/tfgyuiOXKG
Awwwww, ain’t he cute?
Yes, he is Sparky. And we are told by our own higher ups that Norkdom is ‘no paper tiger’:

Which brings up that popular song by Sue Thompson from the 1970s:

I just wish we could shoot it over to NorkTV.
It’s just too much fun keeping up with the Norks.

Russia is even putting in their 2 rubles’ worth.

Gotta go. I’m taking bets on who jumps the gun first: Short
Round Lil Kim or the Chinese. They don’t want him to start something.
Just to keep you all up to date on how far the Nork missiles can go, this link is to a graphic showing a map and the missiles themselves.

Some analyst said that a real war is unlikely because one of the few sources of cash is the paychecks that Nork workers at the plant in Kaesong get from the South. Starting a war means shutting down that plant, which would be the first signal that Lil Kim is SERIOUS. So far it has not shut down.
Yeah, that makes sense on the surface, but if you really want to start something, keeping people working there until, say, Friday or Saturday, and then shutting the plant down for the weekend while setting up launch coordinates is a way of diverting attention from a planned attack.
Or just not shutting it down at all and launching an attack while people are watching the Kaesong factory works, too.
Not, mind you, that I’m saying this is anything more than the usual Nork theater.
BBC video report on Norks:

Apologies for ads. They’re like ants in your kitchen – you can get rid of them if you’re patient.
Latest news on Short Round Lil Kim’s side of the DMZ includes a full copy of his ‘declaration of war’ on the US.

There is an internal link in the above article that will take you to his stated intention to close the factory complex at Kaesong.
Is it time to play “Paper Tiger” again?
Here’s a BBC article on the Russian point of view.

Note: China is also getting anxious about its pesky peninsular neighbor.
Word on the street is that the North Koreans make some pretty good Kimchi…
… ah, but do you REALLY want to eat Nork kimchi?
In honor of Ex-PH2: Conspiracy Easter Sunday – and a happy Easter to all. This all about Russian money. This is a grand game, and the latest Kim is going to extremes to make Westerners, specifically Americans, believe he is a true threat. This will permit Obama to keep his promise to Putin to strip Europe, and Afghanistan, of protective resources. This opens up Europe to extortion on a grand scale from Russia (part of Bush’s “Coalition of the Willing” in 2002 for war in Afghanistan and Iraq were European nations who were at the time being blackmailed by Russia). The Norks act badly because they get rewarded for acting badly. The Norks know that, should they go to war with South Korea and the US, any damage they do to South Korea will be quickly repaired, while North Korea will be destroyed utterly and rebuilding would take an excessive number of decades. Whenever one of the Kims ruling North Korea forgot that, either the USSR/Russia and/or the PRC would tap them on the shoulder and remind the ruling Kim who exactly protected North Korea. North Korea has been promised a reward from 2 of 3 powers, if not all 3, for doing this. Recall that Obama promised Medvedev, Putin’s deputy, that Obama would guarantee Europe would be left defenseless after reelection. But, Obama has to have a reason to remove the ballistic missile defenses. Up pops Kim! How convenient! So, North Korea’s bad behavior is a game of brinksmanship – and if the Norks start something, Kim and his generals will be lined up in either Red Square or Tiananmen Square and shot. The other half of the equation is what is Russia going to do now that the EU robbed the Russian Oligarchs? I’m expecting to see Russia… Read more »
@39 – Aww, you remembered Conspiracy Sundays.
What a nice thing to do! Thank you!!! I’m going to go looking for pond ice circles and odd lights in the sky now.
#40: take blurry photos of the lights – best way to know they’re UFO.
@41 – Roger that!
@41 – I sometimes wonder if the people who think aliens are landing here actually want them to do so. Don’t you think they’re in the mindset that will have them sacrificing a goat to the aliens (or maybe a goat cheese with a nice crusty bread and a good wine)?
Hmm… I still have a half bottle of Chilean Casillero del Diablo in the fridge and some seriously good pepper jack, smoked sliced ham, and wheat crackers — no crusty bread — plus carrots, a cucumber that I could put into a vinaigrette with onions, and one remaining tomato, garlic-stuffed olives and pickled mushrooms.
Time for lunch!!!
Nork-in-Chief Lil Kim has made a statement:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/03/31/north-korea-nukes/2039783/
“Nukes are our life.”
What? Don’t da peeples count, too? Oh, that’s right! They’re expandable.
The latest news from DuLoc – I mean North Korea:
http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/04/01/uk-korea-north-war-idUKBRE92T00320130401
Now I saw a news reports that say the F22 is too slow to be effective. I’ll see if I can find that.
Meantime, for amusement, check the Reuters video link about Iran’s new attack helicopters, homegrown, has an eye-in-the-sky cam up front.
I did not know that AOL actually still existed in interspace any more, but I did find this bit about UFOs.
http://main.aol.com/2013/03/27/fbi-ufo-document_n_2971838.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000058
I will say that sundogs are harder to find, but the sea ice around Antarctica is increasing and polar scientists are trying to figure out why. Could it possibly be because meltwater is fresh water and freezes faster than sea water? Stay tuned to DuLoc’s — I mean, THIS station for further furtive updates.
And this just in, from the Navy. Well, from a newspaper story about the Navy, anyway.
http://www.wxii12.com/news/national/US-moves-warship-radar-to-watch-N-Korea/-/9677834/19548372/-/cmxypq/-/index.html?absolute=true
Whatever is going on over there is now coming under the heading of DoD knows more than it’s letting on. It’s not that I’m worried up here in my small, but happy, Kingdom of Mikey and Me. I’m more concerned that Short Round Lil Kim will take it upon himself to engage in a complete lack of common sense and shoot off something besides his mouth. And I have yet to see anything that says he won’t actually fire a few rounds.
Let us not forget that his daddy, Dear Leader Medium Kim, torpedoed a South Korean ship in South Korean waters, resulting in the deaths of 46 people, and denied the entire thing. He did that to get attention.
My take on Lil Kim is less about wanting attention than it is about being like Glorious Leader Grandpa Big Kim. Maybe I’m overreacting. But whatever is going on over there, Lil Kim is plowing ahead and has threatened to close the factory complex at Kaesong — although it has not yet happened. It would not surprise me to see that place closed without warning.
I do not have a good feeling about this.
Is it me, or is there less in the news than would be normal on something like this?
I think less actual information in whatever news is handed out.
Drips and drabs of news items released almost daily, without a lot of substance, just ‘we’re doing this’, ‘we feel that’, says (to me) that something is going on.
This Reuters story indicates that both China and Russia are less concerned about what the US is doing than they are about what Lil Kim is doing.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/04/01/us-korea-north-china-idUSBRE9300JO20130401?feedType=RSS
Note that the Chinese are slamming Lil Kim with names like Fatty Kim and Fatty the Third, among other things.
Also, the recent landslide in Tibet, in which 20 miners were lost, involves one of China’s sources of revenue, a gold mine. China is more interested in keeping its gold mining operation going than in having a war erupt with its obstreperous peninsular neighbor.
