Taking the fight to Hamas

| November 14, 2012

Blackfive‘s Uncle Jimbo says that 83 rockets have fallen on Israel in the last three days from Gaza. Fox News says that Israel responded by killing the military leader of Hamas. (Video of Ahmad Jabari’s demise is at the Blackfive link) So, since retaliation actually means an initial attack to Hamas, they have declared war on Israel, like those 83 missiles never happened;

“The occupation has opened the gates of hell,” the armed wing of Hamas reportedly said.

“Israel has declared war on Gaza and they will bear the responsibility for the consequences,” Islamic Jihad reportedly said.

Israel says that it has destroyed at least 20 facilities which used for storage of more missiles. And they’re sitting under their “Iron Dome” defensive shield which they claim has stopped 13 missiles from landing in Israel in their intended form.

So, the word on the street is that Israel is preparing to cross into Gaza with ground forces, once again. The Washington Post reports that the handwringers in academia and think tanks are contemplating the far-reaching effects of an Israeli invasion of Gaza;

The New York Times’s Tehran-based Thomas Erdbrink warned on Twitter; “While Iran and Hamas have been estranged over Syria, Iran’s leaders will be highly upset over Jabari’s assassination today in Gaza,” he wrote. “Forget ANY Iran-US talks if conflict in Gaza escalates. … Iran leaders can never be seen as talking to US, while its ‘eternal’ ally Israel assassinates Iran’s ideological allies.”

Yeah, so Israel should just let the rockets fall on them so Obama can have talks with Iran. If you’re wonder how the Huffington Post is covering the whole Israel/Gaza thing, Huff-Watch says it’s their typical Hamas-centric view.

Meh. Typical. I’m not at all surprised the Times’ reporter classified an act of war, declared or not, as an assassination.

“Forget ANY Iran-US talks if conflict in Gaza escalates.”

Talks? What talks? What talks are realistically considered possible?

“Stop your plan to make nukes.”

“Screw you, Infidel.”

“Now now, that’s not very nice. How about if we say ‘pretty please’ and promise to take you to ice cream after?”

“Screw you, Infidel.”

“We’ll enact stricter sanctions.”

“Screw you, Infidel.”

The Israeli people should let themselves get bombed for this?

Wonder what this Iron Dome they speak of consists of. I am going to take a wild guess but go with some form of Land based CWIS and Patriots if not better upgraded missiles. Any takers?

Is Israel going to give Gaza back again after Hamas demonstrates the vibrant valour in sacrificing other peoples’ children?

@2… I believe Iron Dome is an Israeli designed and produced land-based interceptor that tracks the firing and trajectory of projectiles and calculates whether the projectile will hit a populated area. If so, it fires a projectile to slam into the enemy object. Israel and the US also are developing a system called Arrow that is a modern Patriot type interceptor for missiles. Iron Dome intercepts less sophisticated projectiles.

Yeah, I saw the rocket hit that detonated right smack in the middle of al-Jabari’s vehicle. ABC thoughtfully ran it at least two times. I guess we just aren’t bloodthirsty enough. It was followed in rapid succession by nasty tweets between Hamas and Israel.

I’d like to leave the room before the pinching and eye-gouging begin…or the rockets start getting bigger and more frequent.

Thanks.

Nik

“ABC thoughtfully ran it at least two times.”

Y’know…the press was all over a here-to-fore unknown movie producer for a trailer for a movie only ~300 people even saw. They called it provocative and helped carry the narrative that it caused the 9/11/12 violence.

Then they show this clip multiple times? Sounds a lot like hypocrasy to me.

Common Sense

I loved the Twitter war! Someone said it reminded them of those early turn-based war games. Someone else said to imagine what a Twitter war between Churchill and Hitler would have been like.

I would make a terrible politician or diplomat because MY response would be to round up every single one of them from Gaza, dump them in Syria or someplace, then take back the land. Since it’s actually inside Israel, it should be their’s anyway. Then they would no longer have to worry about missiles from that direction. Oh, and the Golan Heights too. Since all of their “neighbors” are gunning for their destruction anyway, may as well be in for a pound instead of a penny.

Here’s a shortcut to a really nice shot of a rockete launch from Hamas’s side of the fence:

I don’t have a working TV any more, so I didn’t get to count how many times CNN or MSNBC or whatever ran the direct hit video, but I thought it was awfully decent of ABC to run it twice last night. It was particularly awesome to see the hood of the vehicle flying up into the air from the viewpoint of the camera getting the aerial shot of the hit. Just awesome!

The next thing they can do to show us their awesomeness is give us an up-to-date body count from the Syrian uprising, with lots of bloody, sheet-covered bodies lying in the streets, while they ignore the US/allied troops still living under the gun in Afghanistan.

I just love reporters and news networks. They really know how to annoy people like me. I don’t think they’ve had the intestinal fortitude to tell the truth since Walter Cronkite spent a few days in Vietnam and came home, shocked out of his mind at what warfare is really like.

The news of the killing of the hamas guy surprised me.

And then I realized, it was the mainstream media’s usual method of trying to stir up anger among the average citizen. Because the mainstream media sure did not mention anything that I know of about all the rockets that fell on Israel.

BK

That was exactly my gripe. A young lady from our synagogue has been sending updates from where she is teaching Israel for the better part of a month, and that month-long narrative has included “rocket fire from Gaza.”

On the other hand, I think the release of al-Jabari’s death by the IDF and the gov’t achieved exactly what they had hoped…exposing President Morsi of Egypt as an extremist ideologue. Look how quickly Egypt’s response has been buried in our media, and I can only suspect that’s for fear of further disrupting the administration’s story on the region.

Ex-PH2

Well, if you can find the response by Egypt, please post it here. I’d like to see it.
