Karzai wants Taliban released from Gitmo

| July 10, 2012

Kevin sends us links from TOLONews the first of which reports that Karzai is urging the US to release all of the Taliban prisoners who are held at Guantanamo into the wild so they can get on with their pathetic lives;

“On the issue of the release of the Taliban prisoners from Guantanamo, we are fully in support of that. We actually sent a delegation three months ago to Guantanamo prison where Taliban prisoners were interviewed. We want the release of those Taliban figures and we want them to have the freedom to settle where they want,” Karzai said.

Hopefully, they’ll decide to settle in the back of a Ryder rental truck with a few tons of explosives outside of Karzai’s residence. Karzai went on to claim that his government was deep in negotiations with the Taliban to reach a peace agreement. The Taliban responded “Yeah, no we’re not”;

Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahed denied the claim, saying that a delegation of the Taliban had attended a research conference on Afghanistan at Doshisha University of Japan’s Kyoto city, but never negotiated with the Afghan government nor agreed to do so.

“The Islamic Emirate of Taliban was officially invited to a research conference at Japan’s Doshisha University in Kyoto city on June 27. The Emirate’s delegation attended the conference but there were no negotiations or agreement between us and a delegation from the government. We strongly reject the false and irresponsible statements of Karzai,” the statement said.

Of course, that’s because of the contentious nature of negotiating with terrorists. As we mentioned the other day, the Taliban is splintering into groups who are bombing each other. So even if the Karzai government reaches an agreement with the Taliban, what would the agreement be worth, since, obviously, not all of the Taliban would abide by such an agreement – reinforced by some wackos freshly released from Guantanamo.

Karzai is in no position to want or urge anything. This prick needs to shut his trap and focus on running some semblance of a functional gov’t. How about also developing an economy beyond poppy plants processed to heroin and receiving/living off foreign aid – if thats even possible. Perhaps even treating women with dignity – maybe?

So what are these Gitmo prisoners supposed to do “if” they get released? Become gentleman farmers? There is a story about a frog carrying a scorpion across a river and the scorpion stings frog dooming both? Why? Because that is what scorpions do – its his nature doncha know.

Green Thumb

Fuck that noise.

CI Rollder Dude

I think it’s time to let them all go…point them east and let em’ swim. Any of the rat bastards that makes it home can praise Allah.

This should really come as no surprise to anyone. Afghanistan will be Taliban controlled within months of a US exit. If anyone didn’t know that before we went there, they hadn’t done their homework. A thousand years of feudal, tribal elder, stone age government is unlikely to become a hotbed of independent thought and freedom of expression.

These folks practice a religion where killing those outside the religion is acceptable, and dying in the process makes you a religious martyr to the cause. Due to the wondrous daily living conditions and lack of any populace wide educational structure murder while committing suicide is a viable option for many.

When you invade a sh1thole like Afghanistan your plan should include about 50 years of occupation strategy (and some way to fund that occupation)so you at least have the option to spend those decades educating a couple generations of the populace, otherwise leaving an ignorant population to its’ own devices after a decade of occupation has never in the history of man resulted in the sudden ascension of personal freedoms, a democratic republic, or a manufacturing powerhouse.

If you’re not prepared for that level of commitment there are a limited amount of other options…none of them particularly pleasant either.

I’d simply rig an older 747 with remote flight controls, making it into a QC-747 type. then load all the Taliban (and everyone else incarcerated at Guantanamo) into it, let it take off, and have some unfortunate accident half-way over the deep, cold, Atlantic.

Problem solved.

Have a quiet, 1v1 talk with Karzai and let him know that the same thing can be arranged for him and his family if he doesn’t toe the frikkin’ line.

comrade obanana should tell carseye to kiss our collective azzes but the gutless wonder will probably bend over and kiss HIS azz…again.

AW1 Tim, why waste a 747? I say take a C-130 from the “boneyard” in Tucson, make it operational and send them home in that. Forget about “air worthiness” or “SAFE to fly”, just make sure it’ll get off the ground. No in flight refueling, no escorts, no NOTHING! Let them crash and go straight to hell!

SFC Holland

@5-6. If you plan on killing them, then don’t waste either aircraft, just line them up and do it. Then tell the world that they were terrorists, and we executed them. Honestly, will the rest of the world hate America any more/less than they do now?

Yat Yas 1833

SFC, with due respect, what fun would that be? Let them think they’re gonna go home to their 3rd world sh1t holes only to have them crash land somewhere and either drown or go up in a ball of flames?!

B Woodman

I was thinking similar thoughts. Just fly them home and release them, . . . . . Sans parachute, at 1000 feet.

DLM

@7 You are right. What will the rest of the world do? Hate us more?
