Paulians: This is what you sound like

| September 13, 2011

Bev Perlson sent us this video from Right Scoop of a Ron Paulian who was stopped by police for drunk driving. Apparently, drunk or sober, they still cling to their talking points honed after years of basement dwelling keyboard assaults on the national dialogue.

I tried to embed the National Geographic video with some success so click the link below or the go watch it on Right Scoop if this player doesn’t work. It’s really worth the watch;

Drunk Paulian

He sounds a bit like the Obamabots – when Ron Paul is president, I guess the drunks will cruise the streets hassle-free, like Obama was going to pay our mortgages and make our car payments for us.

its like a stoned hippie. . . but he’s talking about the constitution. . . so weird

UpNorth

I wonder, was he really drunk, or just Ronpaul unhinged? And, yeah, that IS what they sound like.

NHSparky

Full retard Tuesdays. This could work.

Ben

If I were on his jury, I wouldn’t be able to convict him in good conscience.

Yes, he appears to be a rambling drunkard, talking aimlessly without seeming to come to a point. But then again, sober Paulbots sound pretty much the same exact same way. It’s a tough call.

The constitutional right to drunk driving is right there next to all of the other constitutional rights that we’ve invented over the years.

He’s not “hurting” anybody, so he should be let go.

NHSparky

Ben, problem is, all the libertarian types are all hot-cock about “contracts”. Well, a driver’s license IS a contract which allows you to drive on public roads, in return you agree to abide by the law and drive in a safe manner. You can’t do that, you lose your license.

Swear to Christ, most libertarians I know sounds more like 15-year old kids than adults.

DaveO

NHSparky,

Most libertarians can not come to grips with consequences. Reduce their arguments to the absurd, and every offense comes out a capital offense.

Dude was driving drunk. Upon failing the sobriety tests, impound his wheels, notify his insurance, and take his driver’s license. Had he killed or injured someone, give him the option of a lifetime of financial indenture to the victim or its family, or hang him from the nearest lightpost.

Touche’….though many Libertarians I know feel the same way about Republicans…you know, liberty sounds good in theory and all…..

That said…if this guy is a Libertarian, and not just someone infatuated with Ron Paul [let’s not forget Paul is an elected representative of a majority Republican district], he’s an awful one. Libertarian theory rests primarily on the tenets of not stealing from others, not harming others, nor infringing on the rights of others who do likewise.

He voided an agreed upon contract to abide by laws of safety on the road, and when caught, abdicated his responsibility to be accountable for his actions.

He was drunk, stupid and deserves the full scope of punishment to be meted out for his behavior.

UpNorth

CI, good points. To paraphrase Dean Wormer, in Animal House, fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

That’s what they say. But believe it not, I’ve read libertarians defend drunk driving on Jasonpye.com

Jason is a douchey redneck blogger who’s very belligerent and ill-informed. He lives and dies by the straw man argument. But he’s also a registered member of the Libertarian party and it’s pretty much the defining fact of his existence.

Libertarians think that the government should get involved only when someone is “hurting” someone else, but then their definition of “hurting” becomes more slippery and ridiculous until you realize that it means nothing. They don’t even think that abortion is hurting someone! You’ve got to be kidding–that’s a clear cut case of lethal violence being used against an innocent child. If abortion is not hurting another human being, then I don’t know what is.

Even this clown in the video thinks he isn’t hurting anyone. And in fact, he isn’t. The cops are going to arrest him BEFORE he has the opportunity to inadvertently hurt someone, but so far he hasn’t hurt anyone.

I’m sorry, but I’ve met too many Ron Paul lunatics in my life. This guy is typical. He is the rule, not the exception.

That’s what happens when you base an opinion on a political party, a blogger to boot.

I could base my opinion of the GOP on personalities such as Pamela Gellar or Cindy Jacobs…but I don’t.
