Images of leadership
I was watching the Tour de France this morning…the endurance of the athletes and the precision and fragility of the equipment fascinates me. The excitement is sort of gone since Lance Armstrong retired, but it’s still watchable nonetheless. But it (and this post from Ace of Spades) reminded me of these contrasting images. Which one of these bicyclists look like a leader you can respect?

It looks like to me that Obama has a nearly flat rear tire, and his rear fender is all jacked up. Looks unaware of anything being wrong with his fragile bike as he sits on the seat.
On the other photo, it looks like McCain is about to pop a wheelie, and is ready for anything in his path. He chose a bike that can handle the job, and is standing on the pedals.
I’ll vote for McCain and stand ready to take any heat for that choice.
If anyone seriously thinks 71 yr old John McCain can compete with 47 yr old Barack Obama in any sport from bike riding to basketball to track you are dreaming. The same holds true when matching their intellectual capacities.Dems lost last two very close contests. It won’t happen this year.Obama will win by more than “W” in 00 and 04,and expect large Dem gains in House+40 and Senate+7.TSO said he was looking to 2010.
McCain looks fit to take on the world, where Obama is just going with the flow.
Somehow, I don’t see Obama sweeping the WH. The House and Senate are still in play, I don’t see a clear consensus on what will happpen there.
I believe that Bush in the second photo.
That might be Beltsville.
I believe that is President Bush. Did you know that up until 2003, President Bush would run 3 miles, four times per week with a pace of 7-8 minutes per mile. He tore his meniscus and that’s when his doctors recommended that he take up biking.
Ha!! That’s actually pretty funny man! But I don’t know Jonn, they both look like wimpy stiffs. I mean, what’s with the helmets, fancy bikes, sunglasses, gloves, etc.? When I was a kid we didn’t have any of that stuff. We rode around construction sites and dirt tracks with no protection and old beer cans filled with pebbles stuck in the axle to make an engine sound effect. Show me a candidate with no helmet on a dirt bike sporting bloody knees and elbows and then I’ll say- “that looks like a leader!” LOL!!
