Pentagon: Iran’s military capabilities have been destroyed
The Pentagon provided a briefing on the extent of the damage that Iran took regarding its military and defense industrial base. Specific areas that were damaged included more than 1,500 air defense systems, more than 450 ballistic missile storage facilities, 800 one-way attack drones’ storage facilities, etc. The military also reported that Iran’s command and control and logistical networks have been destroyed. Iran’s abilities to reconstitute what had been destroyed will end up taking years.
From Newsmax:
The U.S. and Israeli militaries have “clearly accomplished” their goal of dismantling the Iranian regime’s military capabilities, according to Adm. Brad Cooper, chief of U.S. Central Command.
“We set out to dismantle the Iranian regime’s ability to project power beyond its own borders, and we clearly accomplished this task,” Cooper said in a video statement posted to X on Thursday.
“Iran has suffered a generational military defeat,” he added. “The United States and Israel systematically destroyed Iran’s ability to conduct large-scale military operations for years to come.”
This means, Cooper said, that “Iran’s conventional military capability, built over 40 years at the cost of billions of dollars, has been eliminated.”
Still, Cooper said that the United States must remain present and vigilant, and “we remain ready if called.”
“After successfully conducting more than 13,000 strikes on Iranian military targets and flying thousands upon thousands of combat flights, U.S. forces have paused offensive operations in accordance with the ongoing ceasefire,” he said.

So if Iranian missiles strike they really aren’t Iranian? Remember what Mattis said – they have a vote too.
Not sure I understand your question.
Well, speaking of Mattis, the mullahfukkas need to hear something like what he said:

If an Iranian backed terrorist organization fires an Iran provided missile, is it still an Iranian missile?
Will iran recall any, some or all of the missiles they have sold to their proxies?
It is likely they have spent well over a trillion dollars in the last 40 years on hardware. We have pretty much done in six weeks what Iraq couldn’t do in ten years.
I am a Trump supporter! However, hearing say daily, or every other day that we had “destroyed or decimated” their military was probably not a good choice. How many times were we going to “decimate” them? Also, where the hell are all drones and missiles coming from? I have no doubt we have spanked their military’s asses, but it seems like too much bragging to me.
Not that i suspect hes using it in the correct context ( that is truly rare, hell, most people.dont even know the meaning of the word), but ” decimate” refers to the practice of killing 10% of the members of a Roman legion that failed the emperor. So theoretically, you could ” decimate” a formation repeatedly, at least until there were less than 10 people left…
That being said, I otherwise agree completely.
“Decimate” is one of those words that is regularly overused and misused.
The definition is right there in the beginning word. “Deci”.
Kinda like when someone refers to some variety of dirtbag as a “gentleman” or “lady”, when they are quite obviously anything but..
So that’s one-tenth of a mate?
Decimate was a Roman legion concept. When a Roman army unit failed on the battle field or ran from the enemy, the unit was ordered to kill every tenth member by their own comrades as punishment.
Why are we stopping?
Before we start planning the Victory party, we should remember a little history—
Bomb damage assessment (BDA) has historically been just a tad overly optimistic.
Germany suffered a “generational defeat” in WWI, and was effectively disarmed and we “systematically destroyed
Iran’sGermany’s ability to conduct large-scale military operations for years to come”. So, to quote one of my favorite song writers—-“Once all the Germans were warlike and mean
But that couldn’t happen again
We taught them a lesson in 1918
And they’ve hardly bothered us since then.”
Russia and China will give some more stuff so they can continue to be a pain in the azz in the region and draw our defense attention away from other areas.
This seems, in the discussion posts I’ve seen here, to be a bit of a semantics issue.
Most of you, so far as I can see, are equating decimation with obliteration of all military capabilities. That’s not what the article above said. It says they decimated their conventional armed forces. That’s the Army, Air Force and Navy’s ability to wage war. That is not the same thing as their missile / drone forces. Yes they can do destructive acts via those but they now lack the ability to express conventional armed forces across the area.
The iranians have used proxies to do their work more than any of their conventional forces and as long as they have any money left to send to their minions and or their minions still exist, terror activities like random missile and drone attacks will continue. Hence why Israel is going after hezbola and iran is now threatening to renegue on the cease fire agreement. Iran leadership knows that is really all they have left outside of controlling the strait.
Same thing with the verbiage regarding the strait and this concerns me because I doubt they will really capitulate as long as any of the irgc can draw breath they will not really do what Trump is demanding. Trump and the rest of the West wants unrestricted commercial flow of traffic through the strait. The iranians are playing word games by saying they complied because traffic can move, but only with their permission, supervision and payment of fees. Not at all the same thing as unrestricted navigation of the strait.
