Man with pistol orders thieves to return his stuff: Report
by: Laurel Stone
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Two would-be theft suspects fled the scene of a crime, but not before unloading their haul when the person whose items they were trying to steal returned home with a pistol in his hand.Police were called to an Atlantic Street NE home after a man was alerted to an active burglary at his residence while he was next door.
According to an incident report, a man was next door to his house when he got an alert on his phone that someone was at his residence. The man went over to his house, where reports state he found a man loading items into the trunk of a Silver Honda, along with a woman sitting in the passenger’s seat.
The man said he had his pistol in his hand and told the burglars to take his stuff out of the vehicle, and the male thief complied due to fear that he would be shot.
The homeowner told police the culprits had taken things from his garage — which had a garage door that didn’t lock — and inside his actual home, which he had left unlocked.
The suspects unloaded their haul back into the man’s driveway and told him they had permission to come get items out of the house, claiming an unknown third party told them it was OK, according to reports.
The pair fled when the man went next door to call police. However, reports state he got the license plate number of the vehicle and video footage of the incident.
The man also noted he found an electric chainsaw in the front yard that did not belong to him.
