Intruder shot by resident at home in Jackson County
Wayne Ford
An intruder was shot at a home in Jackson County early Monday and hospitalized, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting occurred about 3:40 a.m. at a home just over the Clarke County line on Old Commerce Road Extension, according to the report.
Sheriff Janis Mangum said Wednesday that the suspect, who was shot in the abdomen and right arm, was transported to a hospital where he remains after surgery.
A deputy responding to the location interviewed a woman in the home who said she and her male companion were awakened by knocking at the door and the door knob being moved. The woman told the officer that the man in the house opened the door “then backed up shooting.”
What the resident saw upon seeing the suspect was not in the report as the man was not immediately questioned.
Neither the man nor woman residing in the home knew the suspect, according to Mangum.
The suspect, whose personal information such as age and residence, was not available, will be charged in the case, which the deputy described as a criminal attempt to commit burglary.
The same couple reported an incident at the home hours prior to the shooting, according to another report.
Around 6 p.m. a deputy was called to the home after the couple reported hearing banging on a back door. The man reported he called 911 because his home had been burglarized the previous night.

The car owner returned fire, injuring the suspect, police said.

Woman shoots, kills intruder at SW Houston home, HPD says
Houston police said a man was shot and killed by a woman after he entered her house on the southwest side on Wednesday afternoon.
Cory McCord (KHOU)
HOUSTON — A man was shot and killed Wednesday in southwest Houston, according to police.
It happened at a home on Heatherbloom Drive, which is in a neighborhood just north of Sims Bayou and just southwest of the intersection of West Orem Drive and South Post Oak Road.
According to Houston police, the shooting happened around 3 p.m. and investigators said a man and his daughter were home at the time. Houston Police Department Lt. Bryan Bui said they were in a room together when they heard someone come in the front door.
The daughter thought it was someone breaking in, so she pulled out her pistol and shot the 50-year-old man several times after he came in the front door. Investigators said he was shot several times in the abdomen and more than a half dozen shell casings were found at the scene.
Investigators said it didn’t appear that the man forced his way inside the house and he was found about 5 feet inside the front door. Police said he wasn’t armed and it didn’t appear that any words were exchanged once he got inside.
It’s unknown if anyone will be charged in connection with the incident.
After the shooting, authorities said, the woman who opened fire was shaken up. She also told them she had never seen the man before and didn’t know who he was.

KHOU!
Wrong house and KHOU is there! Thanks, Gun Bunny.
I would like to electrocute everyone who uses the word ‘fair’ in connection with income tax policies.

Ya done good today, KoB.
Two WRTs and a DRT.
Either the FGS business is picking up, or ya done scoured the web to within an inch of its life finding those three.
And you can never go wrong with a William Buckley Jr quote. I’ll get the TA312 ringer generator set up with some heavy guage wires and clamps.
Aw shucks (kicks rock), Tox, Thanks. Won’t say I got lucky, per se, but it does play into the hunt. I have several bookmarks on sites that (supposedly) track self defense stories, but between the reporting delay and many of the links hiding behind paywalls…well…you know. Almost like it’s famine to feast sometimes. I also have a number of various news feeds bookmarked and do some serious scrolling thru the chaff to get to the wheat. Another trick is to click “Local News” then input a city where the “usual suspects” will be doing the “usual things”.
Jackson County GA was a quiet, sleepy, little backwater area full of “Mountain Folk” and good ol’ boys. Lotsa trash going up and down the I-85 corridor and many of the more well to do fleeing The ATL has brought an explosion of real estate prices and the accompanying crime. The local LEOs give free reign to folks defending their homes and selves. I know a number of those guys and you won’t see too many cases being brought against the locals for “taking out the trash”.
Two (2) more examples of that “Don’t Mess with Texas” thing. Graybeard…grins. Stealing a man’s truck ranks right up there with kicking his dogs and putting beans in his chili. And the Baby Girls will protect their Daddies just as their Daddies used to protect them. Gut shot several times? You know that had to hurt…until the hurting was over.
Until 1913, citizens kept all of their earnings, yet we still had a military, schools, roads, and other infrastructure. And now we are $35+ trillion in debt. Not a collecting problem, we have a spending problem.
“…although it’s massively fun, there’s still some flaws you need to know.” Yep, it’s also fugly as all hell. Been a long week of it, huh. Still not as fugly as what (GO) Army gonna do tomorrow to (BEAT) Navy. Be a long afternoon for the Middies.
Yeah, I caught the KHOU story a couple of days ago, and figured you’d pick up on that so I didn’t bother AW1Ed with it – besides being sick with this bronchitis crap making the rounds.
Don’t mess with a Texan’s truck or kinfolk or they’re liable to plug you.
The inherwebz news feed for KHOU runs a day or so behind their local broadcast. IF they even put the story on their site.

It’s been four+ years, almost 5 years since the TS12 review. One has to wonder if IWI has improved their three tube shottie by now.
I fell under William F. Buckley’s spell while still in high school, back in the sixties. His command of language and syntax was enough to entice me to read just about anything he wrote, just for the fun of reading the words.
Houston lady obviously believes in ” don’t shoot till you think he’s dead, shoot till HE thinks he’s dead.
