US Government gives millions to fight US Government

| September 30, 2022

The Biden administration just awarded $41,000,000 to a newly minted non-profit called the Acacia Group to help illegals fight immigration battles. So the government is paying taxpayer money to help people fight the cases the government is bringing (presumably also paid for with taxpayer money!)

The Acacia Center for Justice, a Washington, D.C.,-based nonprofit born from a partnership between the Vera Institute of Justice and Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR), has received six “legal services” contracts from the Department of Justice that carried start dates of Sept. 1, according to records.

The Vera Institute, which views immigration enforcement agencies as a “threat” to civil liberties, hauled in a massive $171 million government contract in March to help unaccompanied minors avoid deportation, Fox News Digital previously reported.

Taxpayer-backed government grants and contracts propel the Vera Institute. Between July 1, 2020, and June 30, 2021, $152 million of the group’s $191 million in revenue came from government sources, its most recent financial audit shows.

Think we mentioned that $171 mill before? With extensions etc. Fox reports the total Vera contracts could hit $983 million – guess this $41 mill puts them over that wonderful billion mark.

That arrangement lasts until March 2023 but can reach as high as $983 million if renewed until March 2027, according to the agreement. It appears to be the largest federal contract Vera has secured for immigration-related services for any single year dating back to the mid-2000s.

For what it’s worth, the conservative blogoshere loves to call Vera “Soros-backed” and there is some truth in that – his Open Society Foundation gave them $10,000,000 over several years. But they’ve been around since 1961 and that $10 million over several years represents less than 5% of their budget, so for once he gets a bit of a free pass. He is as “linked” as many of those “Trump met someone once who a decade later became a pedophile, Trump linked to child molestation” stories.

I know I am not real smart, but it sure seems to me that using taxpayer money to fund anti-deportation suits brought with taxpayer money is just a bit counterproductive. Maybe we could save money all the way around just by telling them to stay the hell out or immigrate legally?

Is this an example of a government funded self licking ice cream cone?

The way the Biden administration looks at laws (or rules), “It’s only a law if you obey it.”

They refuse to enforce immigration laws because they don’t recognize them – or something…

Abbott take note where to send the next bus.

Ditto for DeSantis. Soros ought to fund that himself, but he owns so many politicians…

Another reason we can’t have nice things. Everytime we asked “How stoopid can the grubermint get?”, they seem to take it as a challenge. When will it end? Oh…NEVER.

I have no problem with legal immigration, some of my way back ancestors came here from other places. Some were already here. The immigrants were a mix of yeoman farmers, mechanics, adventurers, indentured servants, military, and a few stowaways. They all became Americans and have worked for the betterment of the Country and themselves. Seems as if the immigrants that’s been coming in for the last several decades are just here to become members of the FSA.

I just love it, as I’ve worn out my favorite saying “This Shit Can’t Get Any Better”

There is nothing quite like having we, the taxpayers, pay for both sets of lawers litigating something in the courts. It makes the whole exercise a scam and a fraud on the public.
