Republicans announce ‘Commitment to America’ package

| September 23, 2022

Republicans rolled out their “Commitment to America” package. Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader, argued that issues important to Americans have been ignored, such as restrictions on parental rights, rising crime, and the expansion of the Internal Revenue Service. One of the things that this policy is looking to do is to focus on making the economy stronger.

From Fox News:

The agenda includes a slate of general policy recommendations in four broad categories: “An Economy That’s Strong;” “A Nation That’s Safe;” “A Future That’s Built on Freedom;” and “A Government That’s Accountable.”

“We want an economy that is strong. That means you can fill up your tank. You can buy the groceries. You have enough money left over to go to Disneyland and save for a future — that the paychecks grow, they no longer shrink,” McCarthy told the crowd, laying out what Republicans say they will do if they gain the House majority.

He continued, “We have a plan for a nation that’s safe. That means your community will be protected, your law enforcement will be respected. Your criminals will be prosecuted. We believe in a future that’s built on freedom — that your children come first.”

The GOP leaders say the agenda was formed with input from Republicans across the country with the explicit purpose of avoiding “top-down” party politics.

The agenda follows the playbook of the “Contract With America” that helped former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., win a GOP majority in the 1990s.

Additional details, and photos, are available on this Fox News article.

I want to see them walk the walk before I believe the talk.
YMMV

Testify, Graybeard. Shades of the ’90s indeed. What goes comes around, goes around. Very similar now to what we had then. A self centered, corrupt, grifting, career politician, imbecile, enabled by a power mad wife at the helm with a bunch of self serving wannabe despots virtue signaling that they are serving the Citizens. When all they really want is to make Servants out of the Citizens.

I’m sick and tired of the whole lot of them, more so the repugnantcan’ts than the demonrats. Those bastards had a full 2 years to really work on improving the lot of Citizens from ’16 – ’18 and didn’t do a damn thing other than to enrich themselves or decide they had enough to jump out and turn it over to, what is now obvious to even Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, the avowed domestic enemies of our Republic and continue the March to “…fundamentally change the face of America.” The Founders weep.

More; harder; get angry, RINOs!

At least their 4 points are in opposition to the less safe, weak economy, enslaving government run amuck and accountable to no one of the Democrats. So there is that.

Those “4 points” are the same non-specific blather they have been promising for (at least) the last 20 years.

Exactly what I was thinking. Republicans are big pussies that talk tons of shit and don’t produce. Unfortunately they are the only game in town and they know it, the fossils in charge are more concerned with keeping the gravy train going than making our country great again. Do you really think that even if they win the woke crap in school and the military will stop? Will they really have a real investigation in the Biden family and their corruption? They will put on a show for the public and nothing will change because they have been raiding the cookie jar also. They hate Trump because he isn’t part of the club and he actually might try to stop the graft and corruption.

Needed: More ballz, less pussification.

I just flat out don’t believe them. Particularly on illegal immigration. Just more campaign “promises”. I tried to find the text of this so-called “commitment”, but it doesn’t seem to be available.

Let’s hope that they can get this done and people are on board with it as well as clean house at a LOT of absolute SHIT agencies, like the FEEBS, Dept of Jerkoffs, IrScams, HUD, Dept of EDUH and a few others. Feel free to pile on if I missed any. Oh and DoDuds. Wipe this WOKE progressive shit off the map.

If we get invaded by China or Russia or whoever, it’s Ukraine, II, Redneck Boogaloo. How many of us have guns and are just chomping to use them? (OK not chomping, but willing)
I don’t care if the quote about a gun behind every blade of grass is bullshit, it’s true.

Chipster said, “OK not chomping…”

I’m Ivan and/or Chan’s huckleberry (read: speak for thyself, Chip! 😉 )

“The trees al’sudden started singing Merle Haggard!”, said by some very unfortunate son of a despotic sociopath’s army.

Buy more ammo! Better to have and not need, and you can never have too much.

Guy makes it very clear. Awesome thread.

Although the DemocRATS may not be running the House after the midterms, they may well still be running the Senate. Even if the GOP by some miracle takes the Senate too, they certainly won’t have a majority of 60 votes to get past the filibuster/cloture. So, what it boils down to is that this is all just politicking and an electioneering show.

The Rhinos haven’t done shit the last time when they had both houses so I don’t think they will get anything done next time around.

RINOs… not that they’ll actually get that reach-around from Dems:

When Newt Gingrich introduced his “Contract with America” in 1995(?) it was clear, concise, and specific. And available. I can’t find this new thing.

The text of the “Contract with America”–just over 2 pages
https://global.oup.com/us/companion.websites/9780195385168/resources/chapter6/contract/america.pdf

Compare the two, IF you can find a text of this so-called “commitment”.
