Army Inflation Fighters!

| September 20, 2022

To meet the goal of an active-duty military force of ~1.3 million, the US needs to bring in roughly 150,000 new recruits across its six service branches annually. With two months left in the fiscal year, the Pentagon is still short of that goal.

The Army is facing the biggest shortfall at some 60% below its annual target. It could end the year nearly 40,000 personnel smaller than the that authorized by Congress. The Army has also announced it will boost sign-on bonuses to a maximum amount of $50,000 in an attempt to bridge the gap in its recruiting goals.

This incentive largess failed despite, or perhaps partly because of, the marketing blitz of Woke Army.

Well that didn’t exactly resonate with today’s youth. After failing to attract qualified recruits in adequate numbers, it seems reasonable to attempt to retain the troops one has. There are any number of ways to achieve this, none of which are being explored by Big Pentagon. The Perfumed Princex have a Better Idea. Let them eat cake.

US Army suggests troops get food stamps if struggling with high inflation

LIZ GEORGE

As the Biden administration celebrates the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, U.S. Army guidance quietly released last month says troops and their families can sign up for food stamps if they are struggling financially due to inflation.

The guidance from Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA) Michael Grinston states that “service members and their families may be eligible” for SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and provides information on how to apply. The SNAP program provides benefits for low-income families to purchase food.

The recommendation is part of the Army’s Financial Readiness Program.

“With inflation affecting everything from gas prices to groceries to rent, some Soldiers and their families are finding it harder to get by on the budgets they’ve set and used before,” the guidance said. “Soldiers of all ranks can seek guidance, assistance, and advice through the Army’s Financial Readiness Program.”

Food stamps are run by state agencies and eligibility varies by state.

American Military News

Welcome back to the hallowed days of yester-year in Carter’s Hollow Military where retention is a fantasy and readiness a myth. Worse, as the Progs seek to hasten military demise through social indoctrination as well as allowing it to wither on the vine.

It took a Desert One to showcase how far our military had fallen then, and a Ron Reagan to fix it. We’ve had our Afghan debacle thanks to Medicated Joe, and the Perfumed Princex at the helm refused honorable resignation. 48 and a wake-up.

Thanks, Rod.

For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An’ Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool — you bet that Tommy sees!

I work in Food Stamps…in a military town. All the increased numbers of servicemembers do is create MORE work for us. They fail to realize we count ALL income with the app (base pay, BAH, AND BAS). The USDA sets the income guidelines per state and counting all three sources of income, a military HH with a junior servicemember, spouse, and 2 children are WELL over the income guidelines…..but I still have to call, do the interview, and work the application. There goes an hour out of my 8 hour day….and in that time I got 2 more applications.

But hey: free sex changes and tackling “white rage” will definitely increase the recruiting numbers.

Angry white males are the biggest threat to America, per General Thoroughly Modern Millie. Ironically, the military was primarily made up of angry white males. America doesn’t want toxic masculinity in their armed forces, until they need toxic masculinity in their armed forces. By the time they realize that, it will be too late.

I wonder when General Thoroughly Modern Millie will have the troops issued ballet shoes and tu tu’s.

Increase military applications. I’ve done this job 5 years and I can count on one hand how many servicemembers applications I’ve actually APPROVED. Usually its the worthless E-4 who gets busted down to E-2/E-3 and now has to contend with the lose in income.

While troops aboard Fort Bragg are residing in barracks that have mold contamination enough to present a “clear and present danger” to their short term and long term health, illegal immigrants are flowing across the border unchecked and are being housed in high end hotels at taxpayer expense. Throw in the culture war that the current senior military are waging against the toxic masculinity of “angry white males”, prioritizing training in celebrating the rich tapestry of transgender members, and the flustercuck of the Afghan withdrawal last year, and why would anyone want to serve in today’s military?

Plenty of the Ultra-Maga Adorable Deplorables have come to the same conclusion as Hack, and decided that now way woud they encourage any friend or family member to serve under this boondoggle. Stone family members have served this country in WWI, WWII, Korea and Desert Shield/GWOT. No more, it ain’t worth it.

Nailed it, Hack Stone. “…fundamentally change the face of America.” The JEF grins.

My folks have served this Country since the F&I war, in every conflict, and we still have a few serving now. When their current term is up, early next year, they’re beating feet. Over the last 40+ years I have probably sent an average of 20 qualified applicants a year to recruiters. Since January of ’21, there’s been only 1. I’m sending my mentored youth now into the skilled trades contacts I have that offer apprenticeships, paid tech schools, and OJT.

How odd. In my four years on three continents I never came across any mold. Not even in the WWII “temporary” barracks or the pre-WWII permanent barracks at Benning. Then again, I never saw an air-conditioned private private room, either.

But it is certain that if any mold had been detected we would have spent as long as it took, nights and weekends included, to clean it up.

Not a whole lot of sympathy in this corner.

Rudyard Kipling put his finger on a problem the “genteel” have with the military – demonstrating that there is nothing new under the sun, as Solomon wrote.

Mr. Kipling may have overlooked the “noblesse oblige” contingent of the gentility. It is no accident that both Princes have seen “active service” in the British armed forces.

Prior Service

One day the DOD might wake up and realize that bending over backwards to entice mostly small (like decimal-point small) alphabet demographics into the service (despite their unwillingness and, in many cases, their lack of suitability to serve), combined with other woke behaviors, has driven off most of those that actually did want to serve. Wait. What do you meant by “it already did”???

That ship has left the train station.

Did you also notice that “minorities” constituted the overwhelming majority in that cartoon?

“With two months left in the fiscal year,”???

Nope, Sorry, try 10 days. / smile

End of the fiscal year leftover funds spending begins in 3,2,1!!

My favorite time of year when I was still in: “Gunny, take the Servemart card and go.”

“What am I buying?”

“Whatever you want.”

Claw

Yep. Most popular items at this time of the year were floor buffers, 550 cord and medium black ink pens.

Ah hell, a few weeks before the Fisical Year close out, for us it was here’s $50,000.00 order parts and equipment and have it gone by days end.

Then the next day, here’s $75,000.00 repeat from yesterday.

Here’s money on your impact card spend it. Here’s money to use for COTs (Commercial Off the Shelf) procurements, here’s money on your Chem Warfare account, Equipment account, and so on.

Our boss would buy everyone new uniforms, goretex cold weather gear, boots. Then a ton of survival equipment and parts for our job. Then there was the what yall called “Servemart” forgot what we called it. But they would get a ton of paper, note pads, gel pens, P-Touch tape,, etc.

My boss could justify just about anything and everything you could think of when spending Fisical Year Fallout Money. We would normally end up with several $100,000.00s in funds every year spread out over our accounts in just our shop alone.

And yet black vinyl electrical tape was still unavailable.

I remember the Supply Room suddenly having giveaway things like thermoses, extra boots, you name it come that time of year.

Stagflation, hollow army, humiliation from central Asia, high oil prices, rising out of control crime…. If only he could give away the Panama canal a second time. Then, not only would it be the seventies all over again but he could pass for Carter’s clone

Young Soldiers would probably benefit more from financial planning and fiscal responsibility training and counseling than food stamps. What’s the biggest cause of broke Soldiers? Irresponsible spending. Hey, I’m qualified to say that. I used to spend 80% of my pay on women and booze. The rest I spent foolishly.

timactual

Amen, brother! On all counts.

Teach the troops how to budget and how to balance a checkbook, perhaps slow the reproduction down?

It’s funny because it’s true.

I have always thought it amusing that the US is the only country in the world that has a shortage of parking spaces for its high school students. I wonder how much of the school budget goes towards that.

Stacy0311

The Army’s having problem recruiting new soldiers? What?!?
I thought repealing DADT and letting the rest of the alphabet mafia in was going to create a stampede to the recruiting stations 🙄

Graduated UC Davis and becomes a CPL? What am I missing? In my day you went to BCT than OCS.

There is no reason for a kid to join this mess unless they truly have no other option. That’s why they complain about an unfit pool of fat bodies and dumb asses that don’t meet minimum standards, the quality recruits are not going to choose the new military. Frankly our military isn’t very impressive anymore and it’s far from a prestigious career choice. They have intentionally made it unappealing to the traditional recruit because they tend to not buy into the new American ideals, most are either conservative or centrists. They want reliable indoctrinated puppets that wouldn’t have a problem if god forbid we have massive civil unrest and American citizens have to be controlled by force. The old school military was beholden to values our betters don’t believe in.

timactual

Tsk, tsk. My deepest sympathies to a generation whose parents and grandparents were drafted into a wartime (or even peacetime) military before food stamps and had to rely on themselves to keep their families from starving.

There seems to be a lack of old codgers pointing out how good today’s youts have it compared to the bad old days.

Av8or33

The majority of youths are doing fine and will make something of themselves. The problem is a vocal minority is amplified through social media and coddled by members of the previous generations. What ever the state of the youth is, it’s our generations that raised them. Too many parents abrogated their responsibilities and that’s why we have so many fucked up kids.
