SCOTUS to hear Affirmative Action Cases against Harvard, UNC

| August 11, 2022

That word you use…

SCOTUS has agreed to consider once again the role of race in college admissions. In a brief order, the justices will hear two cases seeking an overrule of the landmark 2003 decision in Grutter v. Bollinger, finding the University of Michigan could consider race as part of its efforts to create a diverse student body.

The cases are Students for Fair Admissions v. President & Fellows of Harvard College, and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina. The court has consolidated them for oral arguments, and they likely will be heard early in the 2022-23 term, starting in October.

Six years ago, the sharply divided court upheld the University of Texas’ consideration of race in its undergraduate admissions process. Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the 4-3 majority in Fisher v. University of Texas, joined by Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, and Sonia Sotomayor. The composition of the court has changed significantly since then.

Supreme Court to hear case that could end 40 years of race-based affirmative action in university admissions

Students for Fair Admissions argue Harvard is violating the Civil Rights Act through its discrimination of Asian-American students

By Haley Chi-Sing | Fox News

The U.S. Supreme Court announced it would hear one of two cases on October 31 that could dismantle the 40-year precedent of race-based affirmative action in university admissions, with universities now urging the Court to preserve the decision despite some expert opinion to the contrary.

Students for Fair Admissions Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College is one of two cases to come before the U.S. Supreme Court urging the Court to eliminate race as an admissions factor and, as a result, overturn the precedent case, Grutter v. Bollinger. The case also seeks to answer whether Harvard College violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act through its alleged discrimination against Asian-American students, stemming from the initial lawsuit.

“It’s very clear to me that Harvard University was engaging in blatant discrimination. And what they were doing was they did not like the fact that Asian-Americans – if they were simply admitted based on their credentials, qualifications – would have such a huge percentage of the student body,” Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News Digital.

The SFFA initially sued Harvard College in 2014 for violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, which “prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives Federal funds or other Federal financial assistance.” Despite lower court rulings siding with SFFA, a Boston district court ruled in Harvard’s favor in 2019, stating that the evidence against Harvard was inconclusive and “the observed discrimination” affected only a small pool of Asian-American students. It ruled that SFFA did not have standing in the case.

Striking at the Diversity Myth in the Ivory Towers of Academia, with the hearings in October, surprise! I’m reserving seats now, ’cause this is going to get good.

I watched a good video on The Team House on YT, the guest was a retired CIA (boogie man) and explained the CHINA spy folks are pissed if they can’t all their moles into a good U.S school. It makes sense.

Equality before the law doesn’t mean Racism is okay when left/libtards do it.

Forcing relationships is akin to State-mandated slavery.

It was wrong from 1794-1865, it’s wrong today.

Figured all the RAAAYYYCCCIIISSSM was gone when Silent Sam (the model for him was a Bahstoon MA young man) was removed from the UNC Campus. And how could Harrhvarrd be RAAAYYYYCCCIIISSS when they never had a Johnny Reb Statue…that was made by and in the image of…a damyanky?

Now let’s all sing Dixie and The Battle Hymn of The Republic with equal enthusiasim.

The Stranger

If it’s this version of Dixie, I’m all in!🤣🍺

KoB

I’ll see that version and raise you a Black and Tan from the Old Keystone State. Hell, that’s where them barefoot Johnny Rebs was heading to when they stopped to get some shoes. Iffen Buford and Reynolds hadn’t got in the way, them boys woulda been knocking down some frosty ones to celebrate the 4th of July. Ol’ Frank hisself woulda uncorked some kegs at his place. 🍻

Many folks forget that a lot of the units trace their history back to before the F & I War and served in every conflict since then. What’s next, do away with the Battle Streamers from the Viet of the Nam Times “Conflict”? That, too, was an unpopular war. Let it be, let me be. History is history and it should all be taught…warts and all.

The Stranger

So you’re saying that Lee’s incursion into Pennsylvania was a beer run?🍺😂
And, if they hadn’t stopped in Gettysburg to get shoes, it would have been the Battle of Pottsville? Ok, then. 🍺

KoB

Yep, even then Franks rep for his brew was known far and wide. ‘sides that, the Skull Lee Kill river was cold and refreshing and the boys wanted to get cleaned up to woo, court, and charm them Amish girls with their ways.

Battle of Pottsville? Naw, man, wouldn’ta been no battle. Frank woulda just tapped a few more kegs, them bought and paid for hawgs, beeves, and ears of corn (no foraging liberally upon the countryside was allowed) woulda been cooked up and ready by the time Meade’s boys arrived. Arms stacked, Southern Hospitality woulda kicked in and the troops woulda chowed down celebrating the common interest All American Birthday Holiday. Keep in mind, Southerners considered themselves American too. And hot dogs hadn’t been invented yet and BBQ was a proper noun, not a verb. 🍻 🐖

Apparently, Harvard is all about politics when it comes to some admissions, let’s not forget they admitted little David Hogg, the human Bony Eared Assfish!

David

Hell, even I had higher SATs than he did!

Harvard is a great big bowl of clusterfuck containing equal parts arrogance, stupidity, failure, and moral turpitude.

Wait they are saying if people study and prepare they can earn a way ahead? What kind of example does that set? If everybody in America thought that then everybody in the country would have to apply themselves and gain their place in life through merit.

That is just plain crazy talk. We could potentially have the smartest and brightest people running the place in a couple of decades again. What will all the dumb lazy people do?

This is so unfair, that’s it I’m leaving forever.

Please don’t advocate for the smartest to run things… how many ultra-smart folks you ever meet who couldn’t lead their way out of a paper bag?

5JC

Ok I’m back. Even among smart people there are people who can lead and they migrate to the top of the pile. In the military college grads get shoved into leadership without regard to ability.

I’ve come across PhD’s who graduated with top honors that couldn’t pour warm piss out of a boot even with written instructions!
