Pelosi extends proxy voting so Dems can party, campaign, and call in their votes

| August 11, 2022

Everybody’s favorite Speaker of the House has extended the ability of House members to vote by proxy until late September due to the “public health emergency” (read: “We might have to show up at our jobs!)

“In light of the attached notification by the Sergeant-at-Arms, in consultation with the Office of Attending Physician, that a public health emergency is in effect due to a novel coronavirus, I am hereby extending the “covered period” designated on January 4, 2021, pursuant to section 3(s) of House Resolution 8, until September 26, 2022,” Pelosi wrote.

A host of representatives were caught misusing the pandemic rule to go on vacation or to campaign for reelection while Congress was in session. Some of the lawmakers have used proxy votes several hundred times since its been enacted, including Pelosi’s fellow Californian, Eric Swalwell, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

Swallowswell must be a bit of a slow learner…the above chart shows the top proxy users in 2021 and he isn’t listed. Guess he is making up for lost time. He’ll have to go some – Rep. Wilson (D, FL) lead the pack with 400+ last year of the 5,658 proxy requests filed. I may as well have left the D off… ALL the top abusers were Ds. Guess the Rs just don’t party the same – see some examples:
Democratic New York Representative Mondaire Jones was spotted partying in the French Riviera for a wedding, potentially proxy voting on 17 pieces of legislation, according to the New York Post.

Carolyn Maloney, another Democratic New York Representative was caught using the pandemic excuse to proxy vote on the “assault weapons” ban, instead using her time to campaign for reelection, the New York Post reported.

Democratic Ohio Representative Tim Ryan also used the pandemic rule to campaign for reelection, according to Spectrum News 1.

Ro Khanna, a Democrat from California, used a proxy vote to go sit in his car right outside of Congress to do an online interview about his new book, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Five members of Georgia’s delegation also used a proxy vote in January, citing the pandemic, but were seen attending an even  (sic) with President Joe Biden instead, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

So Congress can now “work from home”?

5JC

Woah, easy on the “W” word. This is a forum of vets and you need to watch your language.

Old tanker

The terms congress and the “W” word are contradictory. Everyone knows, as president dementia stated on video, they don’t “W” for us.

CONgress is the polar opposite of PROgress. They just stopped hiding that fact.

Poli = Many, Tics = Bloodsuckers

Politics make sense when real language is used.

My apologies to all. I posted early and apparently my fingers worked faster than my brain at that hour. Now I know to engage brain before either fingers or mouth.

I’m sure it will happen again.

What? Getting paid even though you don’t actually work? The Democrats would never advocate such a thing.

Maybe this is why we haven’t had a pissed off JAL Widebody Driver show up yet. With all of the partying instead of working(?/s/) going on, the Target Environment in not rich enough.

Rules for thee…not for me.
