Driver hits several cars, threatens woman with knives before cop kills him, police say

Michelle Marchante, Charles Rabin
A disoriented driver spooked by an ordinary traffic detail, ran a red light, slammed into several cars and threatened a woman with a pair of kitchen knives before being shot and killed Friday morning by a Miami-Dade police officer, police said.

The shooting death was at least the fourth time a local police officer has fired his weapon in less than a month. The first two deadly shootings were by Miami police. A Miami Gardens officer got into a shootout on a busy roadway Wednesday, but no one was injured.

Friday’s fatal encounter in Miami Lakes was unprompted, police said. The man was never approached by an officer or told to pull over and police never turned on sirens or chased him before he was gunned down in a strip mall parking lot.

“There was a pedestrian within a few feet [of the suspect] and the sergeant tried to de-escalate the situation,” said Interim Miami-Dade Police Director George Perez, at the scene. “From what I’ve seen, there was not a pursuit and there was never a chance to pull him over.”

One person fatally shot by police after pursuit and crash in Independence

Bill Lukitsch
A man was fatally shot Friday night by Independence police officers when they saw him display an AR-style rifle following a police pursuit and crash, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which is investigating the shooting.

Sgt. Bill Lowe, a patrol spokesman, said Independence police responded to a disturbance just before 8 p.m. on Friday. Officers responding to the 800 block of East College Street saw a white sedan speeding away from the residence and began to pursue.

The police pursuit ended shortly after, Lowe said. But the suspect vehicle continued to flee and struck another vehicle near the intersection of U.S. 24 Highway and Noland Road, Lowe said.

“Officers approached the suspect. He had a rifle in the vehicle. And at that point in time, the officers shot the suspect,” Lowe said.

No charges in Bradfordville road rage shooting

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – State Attorney Jack Campbell says the case is closed and charges will not be filed in the deadly shooting after a road rage incident in Bradfordville on Jan. 6.

Investigators reviewed multiple surveillance videos of the shooting between two drivers outside the Circle K on the corner of Thomasville Road and Bannerman Road, according to Campbell.

The state attorney says the videos showed 53-year-old John Kuczwanski fired first at the other driver, before that driver returned fire, killing Kuczwanski. Campbell calls it a “clear case of self-defense.”

The other driver, who authorities have not identified publicly, was taken into custody at the scene but was released after questioning.

Tough week for bad actors. I’m good with that.

You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence. —CHARLES A. BEARD

Never bring a Mauser 98 to a war where we had the M-1 Garand.

I’m good with that too, Good Sir! Also good with the DAs starting to NOT press charges when Citizens defend themselves against dirtbags and ne’er do wells. Then again, better to be judged by 12 than toted by 6.

Had a 98 that I got on Blue Light Special at K Mart back in ’65. There were original wooden crates of them, still packed with the cosmoline. IIRC they were $12 a piece. Fine shooting iron.

Ask not who the speach police are coming for. They’re coming for you.

Ms Thang? Meh. Never been a fan of tramp stamps. If you paint body parts, do the nails, adds a little class. Fake hair color to go along with the fake boobs. No scary black rifle to match your black roots? Wonder if the carpet matches the drapes? Oh well, better than hardware mounted everywhere. I’ll leave that one for IDC SARC; He’d hit it.

Yep $12 apiece then, $45 apiece in 1993/94. An elder in my church then bought 25 of them and resold them to us for $50.
I passed, preferring to wait for an ’03 Springfield.
