By Louis Casiano

A Texas man was shot and killed by police officers Wednesday, hours after he opened fire on code enforcement personnel and authorities attempting to do lawn maintenance at his home. The man barricaded himself inside his home before the house caught fire, authorities said.

The unidentified suspect was shot by an Austin police SWAT officer after he exited his garage holding weapons, police Chief Joseph Chacon told reporters. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police and city code enforcement officers arrived at the home in the 10600 block of Pinkney Lane around 9:15 a.m. to serve a nuisance abatement search warrant for overgrown grass in the front and back of the home.

South Loop Peet’s Coffee customers tackle tip jar thief who attacked employee

CHICAGO (WLS) — A passerby captured the brave actions of South Loop Peet’s Coffee customers, who tackled and held down a would-be tip jar thief who attacked an employee.

The cell phone video was captured just moments after customers were able to stop the man.

“This guy they have pinned on the ground was acting real erratic,” says someone in the video.

The incident happened Wednesday morning at Peet’s Coffee and Tea in the South Loop.

“The South Loop is going crazy right now,” said Ciana Bell, who picks up a latte from that location every morning. “There have been so many incidents in this area.”

Witnesses said around 9:30 a.m., the suspect wandered into the business after first banging on the shops’ glass windows. Once inside, police said the man then took a glass tip jar with money in it from the counter.

“South Loop” is about as messed up as the “South Water Produce Market”.
Citizens doing what citizens should do.
If more citizens put time into building, maintaining, and using a “Home Range”, crime would begin to decrease.

Homeboy was serious about that whole “…and get off my lawn” thing wasn’t he? Had a place with an HOA oncet. Sold it at a profit when I got tired of their dick-tater ways. So did others. Some folks waited too long to sell and move out and lost their azz when what was one of the nicest neighborhoods on that side of the little big town turned into a Section 8 ‘hood. SiL the lawer pokes the HOA of their high dollar community in the eye every chance he gets.

Ah, yes, Ruger’s clone of the Keltec… while .380 is not a “best” round, like the man sez, a .380 in hand beats hell out of the .45 on your dresser. Best shooting? Obviously has never shot a mid-size .380 like a PPK, Makarov, CZ, or Bersa. Overall, though, the LCPII is a solid choice. Just understand its limitations.

In the vein of Little Cute Pistols:

The Remington 380 is very nice, also. Fun to shoot. Doesn’t bite your finger like some others.

Pewpewpew!

I wonder why Ruger didn’t make the .380 a .9MM which is the same size as my Rohrbaugh .9MM.
