Top Pentagon officials think we’re 6-12 months away from ISIS-K having the ability to attack the US

The Biden Administration keeps on winning. Just when you thought the threat of ISIS had been eliminated, Biden’s poorly executed Afghanistan evacuation has not only emboldened them but given them a new base of operations. Terrorism is returning just in time for high gas prices, empty shelves, and inflation. A broken clock is right twice a day. Statistically speaking, Biden’s got to make at least one choice here.

While Undersecretary of Defense for Policy was testifying to Congress yesterday he talked about our intelligence community’s assessment of ISIS-K. The Undersecretary also said, after being asked about the Americans we abandoned in Afghanistan, “We did not leave Americans behind. They continue to get out.” This doublespeak is straight out of the “What the meaning of ‘is’ is.”

Fox News reports;

U.S. intelligence shows that ISIS-K, the Islamic State group’s Afghanistan affiliate, could potentially have the ability to strike American targets in as little as six months, while al Qaeda can also increase its capabilities, a top Pentagon official said.

Colin Kahl, undersecretary of Defense for policy, told the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday that neither terror group poses an imminent threat, but that they still must be taken seriously as that could change in a fairly short amount of time.

“I think the intelligence community currently assesses that both ISIS-K and al Qaeda have the intent to conduct external operations, including against the United States. But neither currently has the capability to do so,” Kahl said. “We could see ISIS-K generate that capability in somewhere between six or 12 months. I think the current assessments by the intelligence community is that al Qaeda would take a year or two to reconstitute that capability.”

Kahl warned the U.S. must “remain vigilant against that possibility.

Lt. Gen. James Mingus, who also testified at the hearing, agreed with Kahl. The two men faced questions related to security in Afghanistan.

This was a confirmation of what Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told the committee about a possible uptick in international terror despite al Qaeda and other groups being weakened in the 20 years since the U.S. first went into Afghanistan.

Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, later asked Kahl how the U.S. would know if ISIS-K or al Qaeda intend to strike, should they develop the capability to do so. Kahl did not mince words with his response.

“Well, I think we are actually fairly certain that they have the intention to do so,” he said, citing “considerable evidence.” Kahl said he could go into this further after the hearing shifts to a closed session.

Top officials within the Department Of Defense are not too concerned, as Intelligence assessments show that ISIS-K and Al Qaeda only have 17% completion rate for mandatory Diversity Training and Recognizing White Supremacy Within The Ranks Training. No way could they ever succeed with those numbers.

ferrying Taliban fighters to rural America. Then they have to re group
and network the attacks. I think it will be more like 12-18 months.

We need an administration to clearly and believably say “you attack our ship, we sink your fleet. If only the United States had a special force, you know, well trained mature soldiers skilled in the mission of training, organizing and directing indigenous forces in the conduct of unconventional warfare.

That special force could have issued weapons to 20,000 Afghans (that’s a fucking infantry division!) as the United States conventional forces were ordered to leave by “Let’s Go Brandon.”

And damn it, if only we had a military leader, perhaps a Four Star General Officer (you know, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of something or other) who knew something about such a special force, [maybe if that long tab on his left shoulder meant anything] and was in a leadership position where he could have instituted what we Special Forces officers call a “stay behind” infiltration.

Those Taliban soldiers — (“but not recognized as such by the United States”) — would be a lot less hesitant to walk around with weapons cradled in their arms if they knew other Afghans — including women, (how’s that for a novel idea) — also had access to weapons.

DAMN IT!, I have great idea:

Let’s have such a Chairman of the Joint Chief’s of (whatever) and “Let’s Go Brandon” openly declare something totally radical, like:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”

and say “Fuck the United Nations Treaty on Small Arms” and give weapons to THE PEOPLE!
