Weekend Open Thread

They have no problems setting up a fence to keep Americans out of the Capitol Building. However, they resisted Trump’s efforts to set up a wall to keep illegal aliens out of the country. Actions speak louder than words. Enjoy your weekend.

What? Silver going down? Then now is the time to buy more.
I usually pay attention to Ag spot (https://www.kitco.com/charts/livesilver.html) at the end of the month after paying all the bills & seeing what’s left over that I can splurge on 1 oz rounds.
At this point in the US/world economy, I’m surprised silver spot isn’t more. But I’m just thankful that it’s not (as I continue to stack more).

I don’t have any clue wtf is wrong with the metals market. Inflation is everywhere. This isn’t a bull case per se, but I’m finding few places that offer value these days.

My main concern is moving enough paper wealth to physical jic there’s a little oopies in fiscal policy. I fully understand thats a doomsday situation but I like to hedge when/if theres an opportunity.

If my state didn’t require a purchase of over $1000/order to be sales tax free I’d be in the same boat… and yet New Hampshire is 2 hours away.

ChipNASA

Got DAMN Dawg….how many is that in a Row? 3??
Nice jerb. I totally spaced 3 PM today. I was sitting here at the desk working on warehousing some launch and engineering hardware and ZOOM…right past 3.
Well FUCKTARDS!! I’m here.
Best to all of you, even the “challenged” ones and I don’t mean you crayon eating Marines.

My Main Man! Way to keep the Coveted (EARNED never Awarded) Title of FIRST Post in the TAH Weekend Open Thread in the hands of (GO) Army (BEAT NAVY…and everybody else). Maybe you should use about 30 pieces of your Silver to buy a Last Supper for these hungry deplorables.

Tried to make it easier for you my Brother, did not post a comment with a reminder that it was Friday, and was not in contention myself. Had to do a recon run and check the perimeter of FOB Hawkins Hill. All was well, Outpost was manned and ready…all systems operating within established parameters. Too bad I can’t make any distance runs alone anymore, we could meet up in Plainfield Illy noise and give Denise a hug.

Rule well and wisely My Liege, I remain, your obedient knave.

Hack Stone would like to Make This Ain’t Hell Great Again, and in order to accomplish that worthy goal, he would like to lay claim to First Post To The TAH Weekend Open Thread for Friday, October 22, 2021. In 1836, Sam Houston was inaugurated as the first constitutionally elected president of the Republic of Texas. In 1934, bank robber Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd was shot to death by federal agents and local police at a farm near East Liverpool, Ohio. In 1962, in a nationally broadcast address, President John F. In 1968, Apollo 7 returned safely from Earth orbit, splashing down in the Atlantic Ocean. In 1979, the U.S. government allowed the deposed Shah of Iran to travel to New York for medical treatment — a decision that precipitated the Iran hostage crisis. On Oct. 22, 2014, a gunman shot and killed a soldier standing guard at a war memorial in Ottawa, then stormed the Canadian Parliament before he was shot and killed by the usually ceremonial sergeant-at-arms. Baldwin will be treated as the victim.
Blame will be placed on the gun, 2nd amendment and Trump.

NDHoosier

I have no sympathy for Alec Baldwin.

He should have to eat his own medicine now. Anyone with a gun is bad, and if anyone is hurt, it is the fault of the gun user (even if you shoot in self-defense) – in the logic of the gun control crowd. In this case, an innocent woman died.

As far as I am concerned, Baldwin was responsible for the safe operation of the gun the moment he picked it up. That means he should have checked the ammunition to make sure they were really blanks, checking the barrel to make sure there were no foreign objects, etc. If he was unwilling or unable to do this a firearms-trained stunt double should have done the scene.

Sgt K

Yep, he aimed what he knew was a real firearm at someone he didn’t intend to kill. Then the moron pulls the trigger. AYFKM??? And as one of the movies producers, he is ultimately responsible. This ugly, hateful troll deserves all the shit headed his way.

Having lost out on the coveted, always-earned, never-given FIRST on the WOT to Roh-Dog by mere fractions of a second, I console myself with offering to my fellow ‘weeds and ‘weedettes the following weekly trivia column, which appears in at least seven weekly newspapers in Georgia and South Carolina. If you’d like to see my silly stuff in your newspaper, let me know and I’ll pitch it to them, too. In the meantime, here ’tis … DID YOU KNOW…? Did pirates really make captives “walk the plank”? By Commissioner Wretched didyouknowcolumn@gmail.com To continue with the theme of Halloween costumes, I have found a costume source that might be of some enjoyment. The shop I discovered offers “themed” ideas based in the last few decades of the 20th Century. Out of curiosity, I checked out the 1970s, since that was when I graduated from high school. The “costumes” would bring guffaws from today’s teens … that was what we were actually wearing back then! Hairstyles that were “mod” or “poofy” for men … thick, wide sideburns … mustaches … and the disco styles … my eyes rolled back into my head as I realized I had actually worn clothes like that to school. Maybe I should scope some of the other decades out instead. In the meantime, you should scope out some of this week’s trivia! Did you know … … the first time a cow flew in an airplane was in 1930? On February 17th of that year, a cow was placed aboard an airplane, and the milk that was produced by the cow in flight was put into containers and parachuted over the city of St. Louis, Missouri. (Now that’s udder-ly ridiculous.) … the world’s oldest profession isn’t what you think it is? For a long time, prostitution has been referred to that way. But anthropologists say that the world’s real oldest profession is toolmaker. Humans and their ancestors have been crafting tools for 2.6 million years. … fingerprints serve a function? I mean besides identification. The fingertip ridges provide traction for the fingers to be able to grasp… Read more »

Denise Williams

To anyone who may be in the area, you are cordially invited and will be most welcome-

Sunday, October 24th at 12 noon, at the intersection of Route 59 and Caton Farm Roads, in accordance with the Hero’s Way Act of 2016, Route 59 in Plainfield Illinois, from Rte. 126 in the north to Caton Farm Road in the south, will be officially unveiled and forever known as PFC Andrew Meari Memorial Highway.

A celebration will follow at the Plainfield American Legion where bagpipes and a dj will accompany food and beverages.

This is a Rain or Shine event. If it rains, the sign will be unveiled, quickly, with immediate departure for the Plainfield American Legion where the Ceremony and Celebration will commence.

If any of you curmudgeonly deplorables are able, please make yourself known. I’ll be the one crying. A lot.

KoB

His Blessing Be Upon You, Denise, as you have been a blessing to all of us. We will be Present in Spirit, Ma’am, crying along with you…alot. Andrew and his Compatriots will be present also, beaming with pride at the way you have been their Witness…and said their names. Maybe someone will video the event and make a posting in the inherwebz so that us more distant deplorables can see the unveiling.

If I left right now, I could be there in time for us to hit the Waffle House for the All Star Breakfast. It’s only 852 miles and estimated 13.5 hours. Might take a tad bit longer, need to stop at the Class VI Store and load the cooler up with Guinesses and Yuenglings. I would love to be with you and yours to offer that shoulder to lean and/or cry on. I could even beat that damned ol’ Space Cowboy Chippy, even tho he’s closer (730 mi/11.11 hrs). He’d get Lost somewhere twixt PA and IN. If he does show up, watch his hands. The boy is prone to get all grabby/touchy/feely.

We Salute you and those like you, Dear Lady, for who you are, what you do, and what you mean to us all. The Gun Bunny sends…

ChipNASA

I would never embarrass myself by being gropy.
I have the utmost respect for Denise.
I too will be there in spirit.
You make me proud and are a shining example.
I too hope someone is able to document this event so we can share it with you after the fact.
I am right now putting a reminder for 11:55 Sunday to block out 10 minutes to pray 🙏 for you, your family, and all advocates involved.
I don’t have any special words or eloquent things to say but from my heart, just to reiterate, dear woman and mother, you are very much loved and supported. I know you know that, but you need to hear it often and feel it deeply.
If I didn’t have my own kids to manage and if I weren’t 700+ miles away, I’d drop everything and walk out that front door.
🤗🥰☹️🙂

I believe since the Jan6 people were riotous and criminal, they were blocked out of the House. And now they are being charged with Federal crimes. As for those immigrants under that bridge/road in Texas a few weeks ago, they were very peaceful and orderly…a big difference here. BTW, wall are useless, they do not do the job as they are supposed to. Consider all these WALL failures: Great China Wall, failure to keep the Mongols out of China. The Iron Curtain, the Berlin wall, the Bamboo Curtain…all of them are long gone. I say, “Mr. Biden, tear down that southern wall…it’s a shame unto our country!”

A Proud Infidel®™

HEY shit-for-brains, how about all of those leftwing maggots rioting in major cities looting and burning many a family-owned business that are labeled by your liberal mass media handlers and herders as “Peaceful protests”?

You lose, little idiot.

5JC

Most of what you wrote isn’t true or really dumb. The Great Wall held off the Mongols into the 14th Century. It wasn’t until an internal rebellion and the invasion of Manchus that the Ming Dynasty fell. The Qing Dynasty then went on to repair and maintain the wall resulting in the annexation of Mongolia by China when it became obsolete.

So you are saying we should annex the rest of Mexico? Hard pass says I.

The Berlin Wall and Iron Curtain were of course built to imprison it’s citizens to keep them from escaping to the West, not to keep invaders out. It worked admirably for that purpose until their governments fell for reasons unrelated to the workings of the walls.

Absolutely no one is trying to run away to Mexico unless they are trying to avoid capture by law enforcement.

MarineDad61

So, I take a lady friend out today at 5pm for Sunday dinner.
We decide on Golden Corral,
since she’s hungry for a buffet,
and I like giving back to the restaurant that puts out once a year
for Veterans Day free meals for veterans.

I haven’t taken the Veterans Day freebie in about 4 years
(I’d rather drive by and watch the lines
(and spot the phonies)),
and with virus and all,
I haven’t eaten at Golden Corral in about 2 years.

So we go.
5 minutes after sitting down, after getting our first plates,
it happened.
Golden Corral’s worst nightmare.

Sitting behind her, taking two tables, and now blocking two aisles (our way out), is…
The MEGAGRAM FAMILY.
Yes, 1 TON of family. Only 7 of them, and 2 are kids.
I am being generous when I guess the three young adult sons at
600, 500, and 300 pounds.
The adult daughter weighs more than me, too (>245).
The barely teenage boy is already on his way,
with round pudge head and three necks.

And the MOM, barely 50, for some reason requires a 4 wheel walker with hand brakes.

A family of 7, weighing in OVER 1 TON,
digging in at Golden Corral,
and totally killing my appetite,
with the noises they make eating,
and their sitting posture,
as 4 of the 7 can’t even slide their chairs in to sit and eat like normal people,
chairs out, leaned to the side,
fat legs blocking the aisles.

Why am I fat shaming this fat family?
It’s obvious that between the 7 of them,
NO ONE is fit to hold or keep a full time job.
More likely, ALL 5 of the adults are pulling down freebie welfare and food stamps, and then going out and eating like Jabba the Glut.

Golden Corral’s worst nightmare today,
and it happened about 6 feet away
from my plates of pulled pork, meat loaf, shrimp, and chicken & dumplings.

BTW, the food was excellent,
a great recovery from 2020-2021 virus shutdown.
But the view (and the access blockage) sucked today.
Ugh.

Roh-Dog

Damn sad in myriad of ways. I don’t care if adults harm themselves (preferably leaving me and my money tf out of it) but kids?!

Not to mention we’ve known for over a year at this point that over 3/4 of all covAIDS victims have been overweight/obese.

Yet, here we are.

I’m not claiming to be perfect, not by a looooonnnng shot, but folks like you describe are an extreme of the stupidity this system permits. Obesity as a disability?

Fk no.

(Sorry it was a rough outing for y’all)

MarineDad61

Roh-Dog,
Thanks.
when the local Chinese Buffet (just down the same road)
kicked out a morbidly obese 60ish couple,
who pigged out on only meats and seafoods for over an hour,
the angry fat couple went to the city/county newspaper,
who then ran a story,
trying to shame the Chinese Buffet family
for fat shaming the fat couple.

It backfired, on the newspaper and the fat couple.
Local (and FakeBook/Twitter) support
was with the Chinese Buffet restaurant family,
that enough was enough,
of the local fat loads going in there
and cleaning them out of the expensive meats and seafoods.

I didn’t stick around Golden Corral long enough
to see the Megagram Family finish off
the supply of shrimp, steaks, and cheesecakes.

I would expect some of the 7 would have trouble walking out the doors,
not to mention the likely rest room trips,
where they can barely fit through the door,
no less fit and sit on the (elongated) pot.

rgr769

What you observed is why I stopped going to the nearby Golden Corral. There is a significant percentage of the clientele like the ones you experienced. Even the Veterans Day free meal is not worth it for me.

I myself haven’t eaten at a Golden Trough in at least twelve years, my appetite for their greasings was permanently terminated at my last visit to one of their micro-stockyards when I saw a Dependatee version of Fatassasaurus reach her hand down the back of her sweatpants in the serving line, take a good and deep scratch in the lard canyon of her lower hindquarters and afterward help herself to the “Greasins” via her bare hand. A complaint to their so-called management got NO results, so thus I cut my losses and exited that place to never patronize any of their franchises again .

26Limabeans

Many decades ago I worked at a place where there was a very large woman whose
husband was serving in Thailand. During his absence she grew even larger.
When the husband returned he surprised her at work with a new camper he
purchased for them to go on vacation. Everyone went outside duing break to watch.
Unfortunately, she could not fit through the camper door. Tough homecoming.
