Florida deputy fired after telling inmate he looked like George Floyd, asking him to say ‘I can’t breathe’

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been fired after telling an inmate he resembled George Floyd and asking him to say “I can’t breathe,” words Floyd spoke before dying under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer in 2020.

Internal affairs reports released Wednesday showed appointments being withdrawn for Deputy First Class Rodney Payne for the Floyd comments. Payne’s firing came Aug. 26.

Allegations against Payne included two claims of improper conduct in July 2021 while he worked in corrections at the Core Facility Community Programs Unit.

An internal affairs investigation found Payne had made a remark to a specific inmate that he looked like George Floyd and asked him to say “I can’t breathe.”

Payne made the comment in the presence of his immediate supervisor.

Guard soldier caught in uniform trying to transport cocaine, complaint says

An Alabama National Guard soldier was arrested Sept. 13 for attempting to transport a kilogram of cocaine in Hidalgo, Texas, a city that straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Spc. Derrick Sankey, a 21-year-old assigned to the 2025th Transportation Company, was picked up during an undercover operation by Homeland Security Investigations agents based in nearby McAllen, the complaint stated.

He was in uniform and driving a marked Border Patrol vehicle when he took possession of the cocaine, the complaint added. Sankey was deployed to Texas as part of the Defense Department’s border support mission, military officials said.

Sankey told law enforcement that he thought he would be paid $1,000 for the pickup and transport of the narcotics, HSI special agent David Racca wrote in the complaint.

Doctor Wants To Be ‘Scary To The Public’ And Inflate COVID Numbers, ‘If You Don’t Get Vaccinated, You Know You’re Going To Die’

National File has obtained a recording of a Zoom video conference call between physicians and a marketing director at Novant Heath New Hanover Regional Medical Center, a group of 20 hospitals, clinics, and offices that treat patients in North Carolina and South Carolina.

In the recording, Mary Rudyk, MD tells Director of Marketing Carolyn Fisher and another hospital employee that she wants the hospitals to become more “scary to the public” by inflating the number of COVID-19 patients, and by using messaging that falsely tells individuals “If you don’t get vaccinated, you know you’re going to die.”

In the clip, Fisher seems confused by questions raised by Rudyk regarding how COVID-19 patients are counted. After Fisher explains this process, Rudyk asserts that the hospitals should become “scary” in their messaging about COVID-19, inflate their total number of COVID-19 patients by counting those who have recovered, and suggest that people will die without taking one of the controversial COVID-19 vaccines.

The video was obtained from an internal source at Novant Health, and was recorded earlier this week. The clip features three speakers: Rudyk, Fisher, and Shelbourn Stevens, president of who promises to speak with MacDonald about inflating the count of COVID-19 patients “offline.”

After the first speaker seems to answer a question about how COVID-19 patient counts are determined and shared with the public, MacDonald responds, “I guess my feeling at this point in time is, maybe we need to be completely a little bit more scary to the public.” She then introduces her idea to inflate the total number of COVID-19 patients by counting patients who recovered. “There are many people still hospitalized that we’re considering post-COVID, but they’re not counted in those numbers,” Rudyk explains, “So how do we include those post-COVID people in the numbers of the patients we have in the hospital?”

At this point Fisher, apparently confused, asks Rudyk to clarify if she is suggesting the hospital release the total number of patients treated at the hospital “since the beginning of COVID,” which Rudyk says is an even better idea.

“That’s better still, and that’s something that I can take to someone else, but I think those are important numbers. The patients that are still in the hospital, that are off the COVID floor, but still are occupying the hospital for a variety of reasons,” said Rudyk, before a male doctor interrupted to inform her that those patients are considered “recovered.”

Still she persists: “I think that that needs to be highlighted as well, because once you’re off isolation you drop from the COVID numbers, that’s exactly right.” The male doctor agreed, “Carolyn, we can talk offline about how we run that up to marketing,” before being cut off by Rudyk.

“So I just want to say we have to be more blunt, we have to be more forceful, we have to see something coming out: ‘If you don’t get vaccinated, you know you’re going to die,’” Rudyk said, laughing. “I mean let’s just be really blunt with these people.”

Drunk man crashes SUV, calls wife, who crashes into his vehicle on way to pick him up

An Indiana husband and wife were involved in separate crashes at the same location, just minutes apart, and both would later fail field-sobriety tests, investigators said.

According to a statement from the Indiana State Police, Donald Ricketts was driving north on State Route 165 in Posey County when he crossed the center line and side-swiped a tractor-trailer that was heading the other direction.

The collision happened a short distance from Ricketts’ Poseyville home, so the 56-year-old man called his wife, 55-year-old Cheral Ricketts, and asked her to come to the scene and pick him up, the ISP report said.

When Cheral Ricketts arrived, she collided into her husband’s vehicle, “which was still in the roadway from the previous crash,” according to the ISP statement.

Donald Ricketts registered a blood-alcohol level of .28 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08 in Indiana. His wife registered a BAC of .22 percent.

Donald Ricketts was admitted to Deaconess Gibson Hospital for treatment of a minor medical issue, while Cheral Ricketts was booked into the Posey County Jail.

Both of the Ricketts’ vehicles were totaled. The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt.

Seattle judge sets shockingly low bail on drive-by shooting of cop

King County District Judge pro tem David O set shockingly low bail for two suspects accused in a drive-by shooting against a Renton officer. Police officers are livid, and the judge won’t return requests for comment.

According to police documents, Frankie Taijon Robertson is accused of firing 15 rounds at a Renton police officer as she was idling at a stoplight just about a block away from the precinct. Lamonta Joseph Steward was allegedly driving the vehicle. Police say this was a targeted shooting.

Prosecutors asked for $1 million for Robertson and $250,000 for Steward. While O found probable cause, he lowered the bail to just $50,000 each.

It’s hard to understand what David O thought when he offered such low bail. (O is his full last name).

The shooting was caught on surveillance video, which was noted in the police documents submitted during the suspects’ first appearances. A Glock with an extended, high-capacity magazine was found in the car. It even noted that Robertson, a convicted felon, is a suspect in another shooting at a police officer.

“At Mr. Robertson’s first appearance, we asked the first appearance judge to set bail at $1 million,” King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Casey McNerthney said. “We believe that the bail set Thursday afternoon by a District Court judge ($50,000) was not appropriate given Mr. Robertson’s dangerous actions posed to multiple people.”

Somehow, the Renton officer was not injured in the shooting.

At a charging hearing in front of a separate judge, Robertson’s bail was increased to $500,000, fixing Judge O’s error. Steward’s bail remained the same.

So what could motivate O to go so easy on these two suspects? You need to look at his background.

Like so many King County judges who tend to offer light sentences, O has a background as a defense attorney. In this case, he’s currently a defense attorney.

As a judge pro tempore, he doesn’t sit on the bench full-time; he’s a substitute judge called in when necessary. His full-time job is to defend criminals. Indeed, he brags that he focuses all of his time on criminal law instead of diversifying his legal offerings. Who needs to focus on constitutional or family law when you can devote your life to defending suspects accused of domestic violence, sex crimes, and hit and run?

Judges are supposed to leave their bias outside of the courtroom. But in this case, it doesn’t seem like O was willing to betray his loyalty to criminal suspects.

I spoke with O briefly on Friday morning. After he confirmed he was the judge on the case, he said he was driving and that he would speak to me later in the afternoon. He didn’t pick up the phone when I called several times a few hours later. He didn’t respond to a voicemail either.

Renton officers were understandably livid. So, too, were Seattle officers who have been working on several open cases where they suspect Steward’s involvement.

Renton Police Chief Jon Schuldt released a statement thanking the community for its support, but chided the judge for lowering the bail from what the prosecutor recommended.

“They do deserve their due justice afforded them by our just system, but a high bail ensures that they would stay incarcerated pending that process. Both, through their actions, have clearly demonstrated a disregard or concern for the rights and safety of others,” Schuldt wrote.

This was just the latest slap in the face for police in a region that doesn’t take their safety seriously. Officers routinely work hard, long hours, putting their lives on the line, only to see suspects walk with low bails or no charges. This time, one of their own was nearly gunned down, and a judge doesn’t care?

Something tells me the Alabama guardsman took the E-4 Mafia just a little too far.

He was framed.
No self respecting E-4 would mule a kilo of coke for a lousey grand.

I had a genius E4 that got 7 years in Leavenworth after getting busted with 300 lbs of weed in his car, in uniform, outside of Douglas AZ. Border Patrol snatched him up.

I’ll bet the judge would care about bail levels if it was HIS ass being shot at.
With a two tier (in)justice system, sounds like another tier needs to be set up to level the field…..an extrajudicial tier (otherwise known as a vigilante committee).

To all the fear mongering doctors, hospitals, and other medical admin. Yes, we’re all gong to die. Eventually. Such is the fate of all that live. BUT….most of us are not going to die today, and many of us are not going to die of the WuFlu or The Toxic Jab.

Any chance that the inmate was 6’6″ and dumb as a rock?

that 4th story reminds me of some time ago i got t-boned by a woman blowing a stop sign. fortunately nobody was moving too fast, and injuries were minimal. she gets out of her car, stumbling around like she’d hit her head and starts moaning and groaning about being injured. no shit she’s got an ankle monitor on, and the spilled remains of a bottle in the passenger seat. she limps back to her car, grabs her cell phone, and calls her husband and son to come and help her

turns out she lives 300yds away, is on electronic monitoring for a previous DUI, and her husband walks over to the scene also drunk! her high school aged kid is drinking a can of beer that he slides into his pocket when the cops come and the drunk old bag turns on the tears and (terrible) theatrics. and the oscar goes to….

you had me at “blowing a stop sign”

Prior Service

With that low of a bail, maybe the good citizen will try another police shooting and find himself killed when the cop assaults through the near ambush, thus saving incalculable lives and money. Hey; We can dream.

And this is the world that we live in today. Kinda sad, ain’t it?
