Good Samaritan Stops Attack on Elderly Man in SF’s Chinatown

Robert Handa
A good Samaritan is being called a “hero” after he held a suspect until police arrived in an attack against an elderly man in San Francisco’s Chinatown Wednesday.

Due to other recent attacks, San Francisco police have made it a point to have a presence in Chinatown. But officers can’t be everywhere all the time.

Fortunately for the victim, there was a good Samaritan, who was ready to respond.

24-year-old Darren Mark Stallcup, who calls himself a “cowboy living in Chinatown,” told NBC Bay Area Thursday that he rushed out of his apartment after he heard some people screaming in fear.

“I see a very young guy beating up a very old man in the middle of the street and a bunch of people watching,” he said.

At first, Stallcup said the attacker fled as people tried to help the bloodied victim. But then, the man came back.

“Before I could even pull out my phone, the guy came back around a second time. This time in a full sprint with the craziest look in his eye,” he said. “I remember screaming at him during the fight. While I was bear-hugging him, I was yelling at him. I was telling him that the old man he was attacking was actually his brother and that ‘love was the answer.'”

Police: Man dies after exchanging gunfire with Texas cops

A man was fatally shot by Amarillo, Texas, police after opening fire on officers who approached him while looking for a different man on felony drug charges, police said Saturday.

George Michael Mireles, 34, died at a hospital where he was taken following Friday’s shooting at an apartment complex, Police Chief Martin Birkenfeld said in a statement.

Officers had approached Mireles because he resembled the man they were searching for, police say. Birkenfeld said police later learned Mireles was wanted on a felony drug charge.

NEW ORLEANS — Two men wearing ski masks tried to take a 58-year-old man’s car at gunpoint Friday morning in New Orleans’ Central Business District, but they ended up running away because they couldn’t drive a car with a manual transmission, reports to police said.

Two men wearing ski masks approached their victim in the 600 block of Loyola Avenue, near the Hyatt Regency Hotel around 9:43 a.m., reports to police said.

One of the masked men was armed and told the victim to hand over his wallet and keys, according to the New Orleans Police Department’s Major Offense Log, a list of crimes reported to police that are pending confirmation via investigation.

The masked men got in the car and tried to drive away, but they were stopped by the car’s manual transmission.

The men couldn’t navigate the stick shifter, so they ran away — taking nothing more than the victim’s wallet.

Loved that movie “Chinatown” with Jack Nicholson.
Actually, any movie with Nicholson

Betcha you loved Nurse Ratched too. 😀

Gotta love a Good Citizen that comes to the rescue instead of standing back and using their cell phone to record the dirtbag beating up on an old man.

Gotta love the popo taking out a dumbass dirtbag that is not the dirtbag they are actually looking for.

Gotta love the fact that many of us were blessed with growing older driving stick shifts, or as I sometimes refer to it as my “…vehicle anti-theft system.” Shorely do love my 6 speed turbo charged Nismo.

Now let’s address the gunz pr0n v the gunz girl. Which is the more erotic piece? Reading into the article on the Dragoon gives the answer. .69 caliber (and who amongst us doesn’t get aroused by that number), smooth bore (and who doesn’t like some smoothness during the boring) “bulbous butt” (heh heh need we say more). And it’s real…made of tested metal. It has smelled the smoke and knows what works and don’t work.

Ms Thang? Prolly still gonna have a nasty attitude when she’s 69. Too sharp and angular, get poked constantly. Seems to be suffering from a case of noassatall. AND has more silicon/plastic than a Lego Factory, tho if my boats had floatation devices like that, my gunz wouldn’t be at the bottom of that flooded quicksand filled lake. Work? Nope, very high maintenance…and you pay.

Love may be the answer, but I’m convinced a 230 gr slug solves more problems. And if properly applied, solves them permanently.

That just pure out SUCKS when you’re a man wanted on a drug felony, and you look like ANOTHER man wanted on a drug felony. And the kops are looking for the second dude, but they find you instead. Sucks!

I guess this is one meme with more than a grain of truth, that manual shifts are a millennial auto anti-theft device.
